  1. Yes, joking. Definately. But I admire Roos, they have better target lock than an F-18 Hornet. An F-18 needs to use radar to seek and acquire, but not the Roo. A bus (or Shell's car) leaves it's home port thousands of km away and, hours later, in the middle of a flat deserted plane with nothing but dirt and no other vehicles in sight, the Roo just knows exactly where to be so it can intercept the bus grille with pin point accuracy. Impressive.
  2. You guys and gals should be ashamed! Not once have I read anything that expresses any concern whatsoever for the welfare of the ROO! What of its family???? Did you think of THAT??? Oh Nooooooo too worried about chasing replacement parts I see. You should all feel suitably chastened. Jeeeeez...... heh heh heh
  3. Sorry to differ with many of you on this but I think you can take them on to a point concerning the auto/manual thing and the neg driving. As for the Ps sorry but they gotcha on that one. Why not find out what neg driving constitutes. Who is to say (unless you were seriously hanging it out) that the rough intersection didn't cause or at least contribute to the loss of traction? Particularly if it was wet enough to bog a duck at the time? And you had a witness in the car with you? As for the auto manual licence, if it was/is supposed to be changed by the RTA and wasn't (as evidence in another thread here suggests has happened before) due to administrative oversight, the cops don't have a leg to stand on. Don't just accept this treatment. If you're caught and dead-wrong for doing something then accept it, but if not find out your rights and tackle the bastards on it. Too often they rely on bluff and intimidation and aren't well informed anyway; they need to know that if they make a call that's bad it'll come back to them. .
  4. Hi Shell; I suspect they chamfered the ends of the pad material; it's been known to work. Do you mind telling me where you took it? How is it going now?
  5. Ronin; Any feedback on this? I'm interested in these dumps too.
  6. Guys; I've read the threads on here regarding sump baffles, SBS and the RB26 engine. My engine maunual shows that the RB26 already has baffles installed in the sump. At the excuse of showing my ignorance, what is it about the standard ones that makes them unsuitable for track work. Is it a lack of anti surge baffling?
  7. Cobra; I'm not talking light squeal or squeak - I'm talking pain levels if you are next to the car when it stops slowly. Gav; Hornsby Nissan advise that there is no shim kit for Brembos listed. Interestingly they are 'allowed' to bring in pads for the R33 GTR ($880 set) but not the R32 V-Spec.
  8. Absolutely it's not a good idea.
  9. When you're going through hell, keep going.
  10. Anyway... back to trying to answer Roy's question. Remember, we don't negotiate with hijackers. Roy; If I understand your question I think the problem here is that the focus is on one thing only - power. It won't turn into an exercise in futility if you have traction sorted. At the risk of sounding simplistic, what do you want to do - go fast/sideways, have fun, be competitive in a given class etc? The beauty of being in a class that it partially minimises dilemmas like this because you're restricted. Irrespective of what your aim is, power and its delivery will only ever be one part of the equation; balancing the gearing and other issues play a huge part in achieving your aim, but what is your aim? If you have huge torque then use taller gears/diff ratio and enjoy the legs it gives you but remember you'll need good brakes to slow the thing down. And then there's the issue of what circuit you are on - to optimise things for all circuits and the road is very difficult, that why guys like Sydnkeykid were invented so they can calculate gears, tyres, susp and power curves and specify set-up. Remember the race teams don't always get it right either. Get some professional help - er, advice - build it how you want it and be happy.
  11. Dave; I've heard only good things about SARD, and Nismo aren't known for making junk. That said, make sure you need one before you spend the $.
  12. Sydneykid; That being the case, do you run a winged/baffled or just baffled sump? Can you recommend a product ie Tomei or Jun or Perf Metalcraft or perhaps just some design parameters we should look for? Are there any installation problems on an R32 GTR associated with going winged that would make it not worth while for other than serious track addicts? Anyone else care to comment? Thanks
  13. Calvin; Is this for early or late R32 ie push or pull type? Does it come with plate and flywheel (if so how much wear on the plate and is it a sprung/road centre?) Who did the reco? Thanks
  14. pic sent, I will cover price of COD postage.
  15. SK; Can the PFC maintain good a/f ratios at idle with 700 cc inj in a GTR?
  16. Guys; I'm dropping the box on my R32 GTR soon. One highly reliable source has suggested that nothing needs to be modified, just replace standard parts that are out of spec. Another equally reliable source has suggested drilling synchros to allow better oil release on take-up. Can anyone comment or suggest alternatives? Thanks
  17. SK; can you tell us what the whole engine package entailed in this case, paticularly the 'support systems and other upgrades'? Thanks
  18. Guys, does anyone have a preferred approach based on experience? i can go either way but i'm leaning towards the PFC specifically due to availability of experienced tuners. I've also heard it stated that the stock ECU won't adequately handle Z32 AFM or larger injectors and doesn't have the flexibility of the PFC; while outcomes will depend on the tuner I'm more interested in the inherent ability of the units. Thanks
  19. Absolutely. Thanks SK.
  20. Does anyone know where I can get some spherical bearings for Ohlins hard mount shock hats? Dimensions are 33mm OD/16mm height, 18 mm ID. So far tried CBC bearings and Linear bearings. CBC have 17x35 $26 ea, Linear can get some similar size but $76. Makes me wonder... I understand they might be the same as Cusco or Tein. Can't find the buggers anywhere. Thanks for any help.
  21. Guys; Has anyone actually done this and had good long term success in terms of durability and power? I'm keen to do it but a shop in Sydney who has a lot of experience with GTRs and the RB30 conversion on other cars has warned me against it, saying that RB30 blocks are too weak to continually take the torsional stresses of a high power 4wd and are prone to cracking (whereas a 2wd will just light up the rears). I'd be more than happy with 400 4wkw, which it won't see regularly and as it's a daily driver it's the torque I'm after. I understand RIPS in NZ has a strong GTS4. They don't appear to have a website so I've sent an email and will follow up with a phone call later to see if I can find out more from them. Thanks for any feedback.
