  1. *bang bang bang*...i smell gunpowder!!! LOL... GL with sale... Personally, if a potential buyer is not going to race with this brake setup and want big brakes, go for the G37 big brake upgrade kit that Riverside Infiniti is selling. I know I would if I had the dosh...
  2. Hi All, Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if a 350z radiator and piping fit a V35? I am investigating getting an aluminium radiator....or maybe changing my radiator pipes. Thanks..
  3. If you want to come over to pick it up, be my guest. I am in Caroline Springs.
  4. johnr, is yours the gen 1 or gen 2? i know the gen 1's are very very noisy....mine is the gen 2 and is $955USD plus $300USD shipping...it's made for the sedan with the twin X cross pipe design. so far, i've heard Stillen makes good stuff, so that's why i've opted to buy one...wish me luck...
  5. Well, Earl's just got back to me....they don't do street legal brake lines....so maybe the myth is true....s/s braided lines r illegal in Aust...
  6. Ok, update... Since the 1st post, this is what I have been up to... Items installed: 1. All internal bulbs changed to SMDs. 2. 350z suspension 3. Car alarm 4. Earthing kit Items not yet on: 1. HID D2R low beams (to replace to factory HID) 2. HID H4 hi/low beams 3. Angel eyes x 4 (not fluoro tubes, but SMDs) 4. Porsche 911 LED style fog lights (SMDs) 5. Double DIN SatNav/DVD/CD/MP3/Touchscreen/TV/Bluetooth/ipod stereo 6. rear LCD monitors 7. Reverse cam (to replace the factory one) 8. reverse sensors 9. low profile WRX spoiler (it looks wicked on the sedan) 10. NGK iridium Level 6 spark plugs Items in transit: 1. Stillen Front Strut Tower brace 2. Stillen dual pipe cat-back exhaust 3. Stillen sway bars 4. RDA slotted rotors and EBC Greenstuff brake pads (from rs73's GB) 5. 15 row oil cooler kit 6. D1 spec wheel nuts Other things to come/consider: 1. either 19" or 20" rims...not sure if I still wanna go 20" deep dish or monoblock, so spent the money on other stuff 2. debadging the boot lid opener (found only on Series 1) and relocating the reverse cam to the bumper 3. stainless steel braided brake lines 4. Plenum spacer Wish list: 1. Stillen headers 2. Stillen lightweight pulleys 3. Stillen camber arms 4. Stillen engine damper 5. Stillen master brake cylinder stopper This is what happens when you buy a JDM Import - you just can't stop the modding bug.... The worst bit is that I have only weekends to do stuff to the car...
  7. Hi All, I am doing some reading on s/s braided brake lines for the V35 and so far, have come across these brands: 1. Earl's (popular in Japan) ....sub $200 USD delivered 2. Stoptec ...low $200 USD delivered 3. Goodridge...low $200 USD delivered All of them are TUV, DOT, etc approved in the US. I just wanted to know if any of you have braided lines for your car, and if so, which brand? I've also heard that it is illegal to have these on your car...Anyone shed light on this? RS73 told me that he enquired about street-legal ones, but they wanted $500 for the set of 6.....(yes, V35s need 6 lines and they are all the same couplings for Brembos and Non-Brembos) The cheapest should be Earl's (since they have an office in Syd) and I have already enquired about pricing. Maybe it's time to setup a GB????
  8. Maybe this will help all those new to V35s.... V35s came in: 1. 6 speed manual 2. 5 speed tiptronic auto 3. 8 speed CVT tiptronic auto (only made for V35 sedans, Series 1) How do you know if you have a CVT? look at the shift lever surround, it will say CVT.... If you don't have a CVT, your 5 speed auto will take on the generic auto transmission oil (readily available). If you have the CVT, it needs a not-so-readily-available auto transmission oil.... My preference is for a CVT gearbox as in normal bumper-to-bumper driving and highway cruising, the CVT changes gears smoothly at under 2,000 rpms in DRIVE gear = fuel economy. But when u slap it into tiptronic mode, it changes it characteristics and can rev to almost redline....just make sure that when u do use the tiptronic, to let your foot off the accelerator, change gear, then step on the accelerator...This 'TIP' is for those who have come from a manual transmission setup....You wouldn't change gears without clutching; would u? So please, despite the way how many drive tiptronics (like Top Gear), if u wanna prolong your auto transmission, ease off the gas b4 u change gears...Obviously this doesnt apply when u r in the DRIVE gear... My 2 cents worth anyway....
  9. You took the words rite outta my mouth~~~~~ As i keep saying, if someone was to swap me a 5 spd auto (apples with apples), I would keep my CVT anyday of the week....You guys who don't own one are missing out....Yes, so what, they are expensive to maintain when it comes to the fluids, but so is your girlfriend or wife.... I rest my case...
  10. Maybe ask Jon at Carizma, Richmond. He'll be able to get some for you. Just let him know his best customer, Nelson, referred you. I am definitely going to see him when I need CVT oil. He has the network to source it for u from Japan...Even parts for the V35....
  11. Wheel alignment? Kidding, right? I spoke to the mechanic about it, he says not to even worry about it... Handling characteristics? At very slow speeds on bumpy roads, I feel it is a tad bumpy...almost feels like coil overs...so i was quite surprised by that. Turns into corners, etc with no noticeable difference. However, my Mrs says the car doesn't feel as refined now due to the bumpiness. Anyway, I have been driving it to work everyday and it is fine for me...Feels like I am in a sportscar now....hehehe...
  12. Now, i need 20" deep dish rims to complete the VIP look....
  13. Ok, Rianto wanted me to post this...so that I can share with all those considering the swap.... I bought a set of 2005 350z shocks and springs that did low kms for an inflated price due to the demand for them! These were fitted last weekend... Pics of V35 with stock suspension... Pics of V35 after the 350z suspension was installed... Thoughts... 1. Was it worth the money? A. Definitely!!!! 2. How does the 350z suspension compare with the V35's suspension? A. 350z is a tad more bouncy/bumpy, however, still very very comfortable 3. How much did it lower the sedan? A. As you can see, it's about 1 inch. 4. Which stock springs and suspension is lighter? A. The 350z ones are slightly lighter....say, maybe 500 grams lighter overall...It definitely felt a bit lighter when I carried them... 5. How difficult was it to fit the suspension? A. Well, I didn't want to dirty my hands/fingers, since I now got an office job for 3 mths, so I took it to my family mechanic and he charged me $120 (quite expensive)....It took him about 1 - 2hrs as he also gave my brakes a clean... So, it is not hard to fit....
  14. Mate, 1. You will need to do your own research. All I know is that SMD refers to 'surface mounted diode' (or thereabouts), which is a LED or light emitting diode, but the next generation, hence gives out a higher light intensity. 2. Diodes emit way less heat than the incandescant light bulbs. As a comparison, try yanking off a light bulb in the dome maplight compartment after 2 mins of it turned on - OUCH, HOT, HOT, HOT....with SMDs (and LEDS), they are warm, but can be safely handled... You will also find diodes draw less electrical load than the normal bulbs, hence, in some Euro cars (especially BMWs) with smart detection circuits, a 'light blown' indicator will turn on as it thinks the diode is a blown bulb in the car due to the very little electrical load used. Hope that helps...
  15. $500? u gotta be kididng me...anyway, it's ur money...
  16. Mate, if you are gonna buy one for $120 from eBay, make sure that they come with the antennas. dual antenna is the best. Not sure on the reception though. I was going to buy the Garmin Nav add on unit, and also the digital TV add on unit, but ended up changing my mind as I didn't want to end up with 2 remotes, plus the Nav being controlled via the remote.... Honestly, I'd save myself the $$$ and get a full upgrade...My 2 cents worth.
  17. For some owners, it may be a bit too late to look after your CVT transmissions. But as a car lover, I look after my cars, especially auto transmissions with the tiptronic/paddle shift controls...It is the manual transmissions that I go wild on and do quick shifts, etc... So to all those 'new' to tiptronic/paddle shift/CVT type of transmissions, (whilst you are in tiptronic/paddleshift mode) when you put it in a gear and rev it to the max, make sure that you step off the accelerator b4 u change up or down a gear....U wouldn't keep your foot on the accelerator whilst stepping on the clutch in a manual to change gears, would u? I know it sounds silly, but I have witnessed many drivers/friends/families do this....So i guess it's not so common-sense amongst the driving public... Hopefully my 2 cents worth alleviates all these issues with auto transmissions, especially the CVT...Very under-rated in my mind. I would not exchange my CVT for a normal 5 speed auto, even if it was offered free to me (apples with apples)....Bag me all u want, but it's a personal preference. Despite V35 CVTs being cheaper than other V35s, I deliberately went and bought a V35 with CVT!!! Anyway, if you are prepared to buy a japanese import, be prepared to fix it...the blood, sweat and tears are unavoidable in any 2nd hand car. If you want hassle-free - go buy a new Corolla or something, and get rid of it after warranty expires...
  18. Funny you guys should mention made in PRC, I just bought a cheap all-in-one 7" double din touchscreen with Nav/HDTV/Ipod Interface/DVD Player/Reverse Cam input for very cheap... I couldn't skimp on the fascia, and despite Chris's views on the Metra Unit, I went and bought it from the USA. This is the same unit that JB Hi Fi supposed tried to sell BenzLe. Apparently, everyone bags the Metra Unit due to the A/C probs, but after closer reading, the culprit lies in the pin connectors on the fascia... I then bought a chinese wide angle reverse cam to replace the factory one and also some reverse sensors. So once everythign arrives, I will start ripping out the JP Panasonic Nav Brain, Bose Headunit, Factory Reverse Cam, 7" panasonic Screen, etc.... Thanks for the website Chris. I'll try my luck, and go buy a Nissan harness adaptor like you have recommended... If the whole Bose Amp and Speaker system needs rewiring, I am prepared to do so...since a jobless person should have plenty of time up their sleeve... Even on a 'tight-ass' budget, replacing the stock unit for an aftermarket one isn't cheap at all, when you factor in all the other sundries required for a decent installation...Hopefully I can recoup some money by selling the Bose head unit with 6 stack MD Player, the fascia, Factory reverse cam, Panasonic 'add-on' system...Sometimes i scratch and wonder why I bought another imported car after the many hard and costly lessons learnt from previous experiences... Hopefully, when I am done, I can put up a DIY and confirm the harness pin IDs...
  19. Ok All, B4 I get pounced on by those who would happily tell me to go to the g35Driver.com website to find the answer, I have been there and even searched Yahoo for the wiring diagram for my 2002 V35 Sedan Bose Unit. The diagrams don't match those in our JP versions. So far, I have dismantled all the interior lining of the boot and exposed the connector plug to the Bose Amp and it is a 26 Pin connector. Does anyone have the wiring diagram to the stock Bose Head unit and the Bose Amp? And, are the Bose Amps on coupes different from the Bose Amps on the sedans? I know the coupes don't have a subwoofer, whereas the sedans do...I aslo heard the subwoofer unit has it's own amplifier, not sure if it's true though... This will save me a lot of time playing lottery with the wires. I can't afford to have this done by a professional nor can afford to buy a direct adaptor connector. FYI - I am jobless and refuse to go on the dole.... Any help will be appreciated.... Pic of Bose Amp: Pic of the connector 01: Pic of the connector 02: Pic of Bose Subwoofer:
  20. R31Nismoid - Please lock this thread... A new GB Thread has been created: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gb...te-t281566.html If you are interested, please post in the new thread... danny_tg - yes, you'll need 4 x 31mm Festoons. Apologies for the inconvenience...
  21. Hi All, As some of you have seen on the V35 VIC meet day, I was very happy getting my internal bulbs replaced with SMDs. SMDs are much brighter than LEDs and are the next generation technology in diodes for white light (equivalent to 6000K temperature). Please note that I am purely wanting to help you out on pimping your ride so I am setting up this Grup Buy for SMD White Lights (hopefully resulting in a large batch order). Obviously SMDs cost more than LEDs but it is well worth the money to get brighter lights. I previously did a few cars with LEDs and they were crappy...Do you own research. After fitting out my wife's Mazda 3, my V35, my MX5 and the rest of the family cars, I have found a very good supplier in China and will enquire about a large group buy order (depending on the amount of interest). I know for a fact, that if you have a V35 sedan, you'll need: 6 x 31mm festoons 2 x T10s 2 x T5s (depends on if you have the footwell lights installed by the dealer). Here are the pics of my bulb replacements...very bright (all 6000k white light)! 1. Map lights: 2. Front passenger door underlight: 3. Front driver door underlight: 4. Rear passenger lights (left passenger one shown only): 5. Front passenger footwell light: 6. Front driver footwell light: 7. Rear licence plate light: 8. Boot light: Please note that all the lights are the one colour - approx 6000K white light.... This order will be restricted to white SMDs of the following types only only: 31mm Festoon - containing 6 SMDs each bulb (see pics 1, 2, 3 and 4). These are $19.40 per pair. T10 - containing 4 SMDs each bulb (see pics 7 and 8). These are about $4.00 each delivered to me currently. T5 - containing 1 SMD each bulb (see pics 5 and 6). These are about $2.70 each delivered to me currently. To get the above prices, a minimum GB order of 50 x 31mm Festoons and 50 x T10s is required. I know the above prices are cheaper than eBay (and cheaper than Jaycar). To save money, they will be posted to me, and I will pack them in jiffy bags and send them off to you. The postage will vary depending on your location, but "shouldn't" cost more that $5 to most major cities within Australia (inclusive of the Jiffy bag). If you require LEDs, you will need to buy elsewhere as I refuse to arrange an order for inferior products. Please count and check you requirements as it's different for V35 Coupes and later model V35 sedans (maybe)...Obviously, this GB is open to everyone. NOTES: 1. I am not the seller. 2. These bulbs are direct from a Shanghai, CHINA factory who make heaps of LEDS, HIDs, SMDs, etc.... 3. Cut-off date is 31st Sep 2009. 4. Once they arrive, you can come to west side of Melb to pickup, or they will be posted in a jiffy bag, and postage will vary according to you location. These are pics of the SMD bulbs... 1. 31mm Festoon with 6 SMDs: 2. T10 with 4 SMDs: 3. T5 with 1 SMD: ****To make it easier, all interested members, please fill this out, post in this thread and then email me your order:***** Forum ID: 1 pair of 31mm Festoon with 6 SMDs (Quantity) @ $19.40 per pair: 1 unit T10 with 4 SMDs (Quantity) @ $4 each: 1 unit T5 (Quantity) @ $2.70 each: Total price of your order ($): Location (Suburb & State) for postage estimate: if you have an enquiry: siu_loong_bao @ hotmail.com Nel.
  22. i didn't have any in the house....i originally did my V35 with masking tape and it was too thin...so I found some duct tape..works better...just make sure that b4 u stick it on, u sitck it onto your clothes or something...
