I'm in the process of running in my fresh rb26 motor and seem to have a pressure problem. I have a new electric AutoMeter oil pressure gauge installed, and after start up, it idles at aprox 75lbs. of pressure.... When I drive around, it peggs the needle at 100lbs. (max reading). I'm sure the pressure is going higher than 100lbs. Once warmed up to operating temp., the idle pressure settles at aprox 25lbs., but under boost, it stays at, or over 100lbs. I'm afraid this is to much, and I see oil coming out of my new Garrett 2540's comp housings.... Is this normal for the Jun pump to be that high of pressure? I have the Tomei oil restrictor installed in the block.

I also have the HKS ez2 EBC. Can any body sugest how to hook it up to twins? I lost the paper work that came with it, and its been a year and a half since I had it hooked up to my last single set up.... Any help would be appreciated.

yes it is...

If your crank looks like this one, its the early R32 short drive... This is the long drive
-
Thank You Mik. Everything should be ok unless the HKS cams indeed use a 31mm base circle. In that case I'd need all new shims 0.5mm thicker... correct?
-
ok, so you bought 24 new shims. Thanks, thats what I needed to know...
-
I know all that.... I keep asking the same question but get answers to something else. I ask, from someone who knows, in general, do you have to buy all new shims when you install HKS step 2 cams on a stock unmolested head? I know I should check the clearnces "after" the cam swap. I'm trying to plan ahead and know if most that have done this ended up buying all new shims. thanks again - j.
-
Reason I ask is I already installed a unknown brand of cams (264/9.7 - 256/9.7) and all the stock shims worked out perfect on that swap. I've heard of some cam makers keeping the base stock so that the stock shims do work. Just wondering if anyone has installed the HKS step 2 cams, and if so, did they need new shims....? thanks - j.

Hi, will installing a pair of HKS cams (EX280 10:01 - IN272 10:08) require all new valve tip shims (in general)? I know they need to always be checked, I'm just asking, on average, do most guys with stock heads require buying all new thicker/thinner shims to install these cams? thank you j.

Link To Picture Of Installed Crank Collar?
RB26zcar replied to ctnewman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
This pic has been floating around for awhile. I'm not sure who it belongs to, so thank you if its yours.... CLICK ON PIC -
I guess I didn't understand what you ment in that post... Of cource you can't use a short nose pinion in a long nose diff case. The pinion is part of the shaft.
-
As far as I know, you can't mix and match a pinion from another set to a ring gear of another set. They are a matched set out of the box...
-
Can you tell me please if the standard R32 diff (GT-R or which) is the "long nose" R200 ? Also, is it a clutch pack diff, or VLSD ?? I'm trying to find out which Skylines came with the long nose R200 4:11 or 4:3? CLSD. Any help is appreciated !!!

This guy sells them on Ebay for a good price... http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQfromZR9...assZtaffQ2ddawg

This one has the fitting welded to the pump.... This is why I like the Trust oil pump over the regular castings of the oem and N-1 pump. I'm making up a external pick up into a custom alum oil pan to go on my rb26 powered Z car. The standard casting oil pump does not provide enough "meat" for a tapped fitting to be used. The custom pan is needed for the rear sump placement in the Zed....
-
Thanks Blitz..... Sorry to stray off topic, but can anyone that knows from experince tell me if the Grex / Trust oil pump is as good a quality as the Jun etc. thanks again...
-
I bought a pump that was only used for mock up of the engine from a guy, but when I received it (all the way from Japan) the rear cover has GREX on it. I'm assuming this is made by the same mold because I took it apart and compared it to another pump that had JUN on the back cover. Is there one main Co. making these uprated pumps, then sourcing them out for re badging? Is my pump with GREX really a Greddy or Trust pump?? PLEASE ADVISE thanks joel
