Event: Happy Laps - Lakeside Park Description: A chance to get out on track for a fun cruise and have some om nom noms! Bit of spirited driving is allowed but it is still an event on a race track so a few rules need to be followed (see below). Breakfast will be served with bacon, eggs, beans and toast. Location: Lakeside Park Link To Map. Date: Saturday the 23rd of April. Time: 7:00 AM Arrival 7:30 AM Breakfast 8:00 AM On Track Cost: $35 for members $50 for non members Please note that this is a per person cost, any passengers are required to pay as well. If you wish to come along to watch and not have breakfast it is free. Requirements: 1. Participants must meet minimum age requirements for being on track. 2. The overtaking car is responsible for completing the overtaking move safely. 3. Overtaking is only permitted on straights, unless clearly waved passed by the car in front. 4. Overtaking move must be completed well before the end of the straight, and the car being overtaken must be given plenty of room. 5. Cars should not be more than 2 abreast at any point on the track. 6. Be aware of cars around you, in front and behind (and beside when being overtaken). 7. Do not assume that the car in front of you knows you are there. 8. Please pay cash on the day, no EFTPOS is available. Lakeside Specific Rules: 9. No overtaking or cars side by side on the kink. Event: SAU's Easter Cruise. Description: It's time again for an SAU cruise, this time a repeat of our very popular Easter cruise from 2014. We will be leaving from the Yatala BP and heading up Mt Tamborine then down around the Hinze Dam and up Gold Coast Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd. From there we will head out to the across the tweed to the Tumbulgum Pub for lunch. Route map HERE. Location: We will be meeting up at the BP just off the Pacific Motorway at Yatala MAP HERE. Date: Sunday the 27th of March. Time: Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:30 am departure. Cost: Fuel and lunch. Requirements: CB Radios if you have them. Hey Mike, SAU Qld is still active but only just. Sadly the forum's are, for all intend and purposes, dead. We have a Facebook page (sauqld) but it is also fairly quiet. The honest truth is that there is little interest in a club up here any more. We currently have 40 financial members on the books and maybe half of them are active in events. I've tried many things to get attendance up but I'm running out of options. We try to hold events semi regularly but it's a lot of work for 1 or 2 people and not very rewarding when 5 cars show up. There is a fair few JDM and general meets and the odd cruise but I personally don't like associating with many of the people that attend them. I'm from the north side of Brisbane so I don't know any rwc or decent mechanics on the Gold Coast. Most of the serious enthusiasts up here do all the servicing themselves but I do know a few decent workshops in Brisbane and a good rwc guy of you're willing to travel. As for your wife's car, that will depend on the place you take it. There's nothing in the rules about fault codes failing you but some guys still might. Generally of you're getting a rwc for your own car they're more relaxed than if you're selling it. Hold this helps Mike. Michael.
