  1. Our 35 crash was better than your 35 crash Ben & Russ I can report that Kel is bloody sore this morning, though the only physical damage is a tonne of scratches earned scrambling back up the bank through the brambles. Well that and a very sore head from the very stiff drinks last night Will post proper when I'm home but as the pics show we basically hit a very average piece of road - ripped up surface and a splash of oil- and ended up sliding 12ft down a very steep bank. i still have no idea how we didn't: (a) roll (b) hit some bloody big trees © slide another 12ft down into a creek, or (d) all of the above! The car looks surprisingly good for what it went through but i'm sure there will be some serious work needed underneath. Ben, Tash is all good though the car was a mess- she is another girl who should be buying a lotto ticket today!
  2. too tired to post properly but it was an awesome day out - even with all the stage changes shame some of the stages downgraded or cancelled were ones better suited to the skylines Very sad to see Snowy parked at the side of what turned out to be our first competitive stage hope you guys get back out tomorrow Will be interesting to see how tomorrows adventures on the goat tracks go
  3. Doh cygnet is my fave stage! Nice change from some of those goat tracks you have us running on Pete is joking that we will need to take an angle grinder to the car to get through some of the stages!
  4. Ha ha always safe, no comment on legal will have to see about joes we still have to do some set up including seeing if i can sqeeze my arse into petes tiny seats!
  5. nice work on rally tas Tim! Shame we wont see you this weekend? Just spotted Snowman out on reccy - that crew car is definitely hard to miss we were in the navara with the smoking brakes going the opposite direction Looks like we are in for some bloody quick stages going to be awesome fun in the 35 Anyway back to work for me gee this nav thing is a tough gig
  6. See everyone competing @wrestpoint down there - I'm up at sparrows tomorrow morning to help get the DK cars onto the Tuesday night boat!
  7. Change of plans sadly & no convoy- looks like we are booked for the Tuesday night boat. Will see everyone at scruitineering or Friday evening at the briefing no doubt, if not before. I'll be the one in the pink car
  8. well it is with huge relief i give my latest update..... i have somehow managed to fit back into the race suit that and i think we are on the wednesday night boat, so may catch up with some of you blokes for a quiet shandy on the crossing.
  9. ...if it rains i put the roof up on the zed i guess or wear a raincoat seriously though- this is not the same as a sprint or a track day it's the closest you will get to door to door racing in a relatively tame environment - but like everything that happens on the track there is a risk and this is still racing, so unless you're prepared to be up close and personal with other cars you might want to look at other events
  10. Missing the Hawkins fambily already
  11. Cheers Not sure of travel arrangements and duties just yet - the Donut King guys are just back from racing the 24-hour in Dubai.
  12. well- I'm officially entered in Wrestpoint with an officially bad profile pic! Car 425 2008 Nissan GT-R
  13. Not sure if they sell them anymore but Just Jeans used to have these webbed belts for about 10 bucks which were perfect for the second fastner
  14. ... yeah and he's almost finished with the therapy needed as a result I'm thinking about entering the 350 for laughs- should have some decent brakes on it by then.
  15. Yeah it's looking likely Just sorting out details with the guys now.
  16. Yep one stage and changes to some others according to the quote on the event website... With entry numbers not as high as we would have liked, it has meant that some alterations to the course will be required. Unfortunately due to the massive logistics required, the Saturday evening street stage will have to be dropped, but will hopefully make a triumphant return in 2010” said Event Manager Scott Spedding. “We are also considering some minor changes to other sections of the course, but will ensure that the effect on competitive kilometres is as minimal as possible. Further details will be announced in the coming week, but changes are most likely to affect the Friday Stages only”.
  17. Duncan and I were looking to do this in the 32 for a bit of fun but it looks like I will be Tassie bound around the same time. Getting everyone together to organise a calendar of events sounds far too organised for motorsport
  18. Department of Gaming and Racing in each state issues permits. You may find some of what has been committed would not need be covered by a permit as it would be considered a 'game of skill' with judged criteria to determine a winner- i.e. drive the quickest and win lots of money. However, the Unique Cars prize entry may need one depending on what you need to do to enter. If it's a "tell us why you want to win in 25 words or less" comp, again, it's a game of skill with no permit needed. However if it's "call this number to enter the draw to win"- it's considered a game of chance and permit numbers for most states definitely needed, including in NSW and VIC. It was the Unique Cars link in the original post that had me thinking this was believeable. Plus the fact we've seen quite a few people try to run this kind of competition (mostly legitimately!) previously with decent prize values - Mopro ran something years ago with a supported season drive in a Konica Car, with lots of other prizes.
  19. Email received today from Mountain Motorsports... Dear Competitor Here is the real situation regarding the 2009 January Australia Day long weekend Lake Mountain Classic. Currently we have insufficient entries to make the event work. But we're doing everything we can to make it happen but we need your help by your committing to the event. With that in mind the price has been reduced $500, making the entry fee now only $1500. That's deluxe value for two days of solid tarmac action. Additionally we have a fantastic incentive package for competitors attending the 2009 Lake Mountain Classic. It's based on total number of competitors at the 2009 Lake Mountain Classic. We have a sliding scale, which provides you with a credit for the any Mountain Motorsports event. What that really means is that if you commit to the 2009 Lake Mountain Classic and we get: 40+ entries you receive a $ 150.00 credit 50+ entries you receive a $ 250.00 credit 60+ entries you receive a $ 350.00 credit If you compete in the Lake Mountain Classic and Lake Mountain Sprint a $500.00 credit toward Mt Buller Sprint is applied. So, as an example, if 50 entries come in for Lake Mountain Classic, you get a $250 discount on any Mountain Motorsport event. But if you then do Lake Mountain Sprint, which you can apply your $250 discount to, you'll get a further $500 discount for completing the two LM events. That makes Mt Buller Sprint becomes $500 cheaper. And we'll keep the sliding scale going from here on at every event. Got it? Oh, and as a response to competitor input a new tyre rule limiting the quantity of tyres allowed is now in the supp regs, as well as a pure showroom class. NB: We absolutely need to confirm final numbers before 31st December 2008 to ensure everything is in place for the January event. What can you do? Go to the MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS website and download the entry form. Now fax it back to (03) 98172152 straight away confirming your entry and secure the future of the event. And if any of you received Mr Rudd's $1000 stimulus package, you've only got to cough up another $500. Easy! So have a great Christmas from all of us at Mountain Motorsports and we wish you a Happy New Year. But send your entries in before 31 December so we can as have one as well and relax for a bit instead of sweating it out. Here's the link to the website: MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS
  20. I need another suit (6 days straight in one equals smelly) Hope i can work out how to get there, and to the SAU Chrissie Cruise tomorrow! Bloody good prices by all acounts it seems?
  21. Looks like you boys have been given a deadline March 29, 2009
  22. wow- that crystal ball works SMH.com.au: Skaife hands Holden team back to Walkinshaw to clear millions in debt
  23. It does seem that Walkinshonk stands to pick up HRT at a VERY cheap price if this plays out the way some pundits are tipping, and Skaife goes the *give him all the assets* route. Funny how the assets include an HRT licence that the Shonky bloke would have never had a chance at given past performance. Convienient, lucky or planned??? Anyway, this sad situation once again goes to prove you can be a great sportsperson, and believe the best in people, but that defintely doesn't give you the business smarts.
  24. He should have stuck to racing Nissans
  25. well.... my mum thinks it's cool a pic i took at the arc round in coffs a few weeks back
