Just read the latest Motorsport News- Steve Jones is back in a 35 for Targa West. Notice I said 'a' 35 not 'the' (Targa crashed) 35. I sensed just a little bit of spin in the story. Jones is quoted as saying the car was actual fixable, but that he had been planning to retire it after Tasmania, so it didn't set them back too much Wish I lived in that little world of racing where you plan to retire a car after it's only done a handful of events!

that would be a 1.37.8 (2nd outright) excellent time for one Mr Mark Berry? And we do have some pic of Stuart's 33 (and some better pics of all SAU-ers ) floating around on that new high tech camera... if only i could work out how to actually download them...

so does this latest change make the R32 the most *banned* car in motorsport (or had it taken that title already ) maybe it's time to start a poll to decide the car who has has the most regs changed to stop it from competing and beating the cars it was built to race against. the audi quattro and the porker 956 might give the 32 a run, but my money's still on the old girl wonder if nissan will ever stop being penalised for building a car which was 5 years ahead of it's time

Well said Benny. I have alot of respect for what Octagon does but this change is pretty disapointing. It's getting harder not to think the rules are adapted just to keep the loudest, sorest - and dare I say with my tongue in my cheek- biggest paying losers happy. God forbid we should actually have to have cars built in the same era actually compete against each other in the same class!!!

I hate saying this, but stuff like that still happens- rare as it is thankfully these days - but motorsport with all its safety measures will never be 100% safe (don't tell my dad I said that btw). I will never forgot the first time I saw firsthand someone die during a race - that will live with me forever. You tell yourself the driver went out doing what they loved but that never really makes you feel better about the loss or the tragedy of the situation.

Deposit for Mt Buller Sprint sent today. Handley & Handley to appear on the door of the old girl again!

Not to mention what's now destined to be one of the funniest race finishes ever!

I'm with you on that Ben - I've toyed with the idea of driving rookie but don't think I could having experienced the final days.

Don't forget Targa is on the telly this weekend! From Helen @ Octagon's email this morning... Australia's top tarmac rally will be on show in lounge rooms around the country this weekend, with the Seven Network broadcasting a one-hour special on Targa Tasmania on Sunday at 12 noon. Locally in Tasmania, it will show on Southern Cross TV. I'm guessing your driving skillz -particularly when it comes to field plowing - will feature prominently Benny

<sigh> rally withdrawal x 10 after watching Amazing effort especially with Lowana Ben and Timmy- you can see the committment. Funny thing is I bet you were travelling 5 times faster than that in car reflected- todays cams are very good but still don't really give a sense of how fast or how close!

Just spotted the car in the *new & improved* Auto Salon magazine. The mag is still probably not to everyones' taste, but it's got good coverage of what the boys have been up to. Congrats to Mark & Russ - great to see the interest and support the car is generating.

yeah those lights are a bit of overkill - you're not likely to miss a 35 in a field full of taxis sounds like the targa cars were well received?
