  1. Hey, what's all this anti-squeel plates business? Do many people have experience with these? If people have actually used these before, do you guys n gals find them effective? And what's different about them compared to the stockies? (Actually, do all you other people have the same 2 backing plates that I do?) If I can find a solution to these loud brakes I'll write something up, coz it seems to be a common thing.... hmm..
  2. If any of you guys are having probs with your window electrics, it may be worth while pulling things apart and playing... My driver side window used to be a bit mental, and would work intermittently, then one day decided to stop half way, and would go down but not up. Needless to say, I had to do something about it... I pulled everything off the door that I could get off, tested all the switches and wiring, worked out it must have been the motor, because I was getting the right voltages through to the right places, but nothing was working... I didn't get very far with the motor, coz I realised i would have to get it replaced or fixed..... After all that, I started to put things back together so I could drive again, and then IT WORKED!! I haven't had a problem. Even though my wiring up to and past the switches worked, it must have been between the last connector and the motor itself... SO have a play, you may save yourself some serious cash... -al.
  3. Hey Igor, if you think you're going nuts... I was about to type up a reply saying that I have heard a similar clicking coming through the passenger window, sounding like something metal stuck on my tyre, then I remembered that just this afternoon, we found a nail stuck in my front left tyre... Before I was laughing because i'm going loopy, now i'm just thinking about the time and money it'll cost to get sorted out... dammit..
  4. Hi all, judging by the amount that came up when i did a search about squeeky brakes, I was quite amazed that so many people have the same funny problems as I do (yeah, random idling and the occasional stall or semi-stall etc). Here's what was going on: R33 Gtst stock brakes bendix ultimate pads (plenty of grip left) heaps of squeeking (making me do some funny braking patterns so as to not make any noise when I'm trying to pull up all tough at the lights... I'm sure many of you know what i'm talking about.... It kinda ruins the cool/mean ass effect if you roll up squeeking like a tram...) SO: I went to super cheap auto and bought me some of that anti squeek business that you spray onto the back of the brake pads (like pink silly string?!) then 10 mins later put back in place. WELL: It squeeked again from the moment I drove off a couple of hours later (on the way to the drift battle... those crazy bastards... so entertaining) It quitened down oh so slightly for the odd ride, but generally keeps sounding like an old vans brakes. MY QUESTION: (in a very long winded manner) Backing my brake pads are 2 metal shim thinigs, a darker one that fits snuggly, and a silver metal one that goes about half way down. With my pink silly string, can I spray in between these metal shimajigies, as to make them grip a bit better together and not rub, hence CUTTING OUT THIS RIDICULOUS SQUEEKING? I'm hoping this might be ok, since I would keep my silly string away from the brake pot things, but am i doing something which may result in me ending up in a tree? Cheers, MR SQUEEKY MOUSE... (ps. If anyone needs me to translate my dribble (yes, it's 1:40am), pls let me know and i can rephrase my question in one brief question)
  5. In regards to what JiVE said: "And if your after the 'flutter' sound this can also be acheived through the stock bov. Just get a POD and pull the vacum hose out of the BOV. Make sure you block it off real good however, or you will stall." Have any of you guys actually done that? And what is it about that that would flutter? I've heard of the fluttering before, but i don't know what causes it. And what sort of effect would this have on driving and safety of my engine and parts?
  6. I think the wiring in my car is loopy, i believe it thinks the boot is always open (int light on and boot light on, i had to remove), and the alarm believes this too. normallly that is ok, alarm ignores that one trigger point, but yesterday alarm started going off for no reason, and keeps doing it. had to turn stupdi siren off... Anyone have ideas about wiring & how to fix? This is actually REALLY annoying me....
  7. just a quick question guys, I plan on going down this same path soon, and hadn't been aware of the computer prob.. what is the "pfc" is it a new chip? I actually installed a boost controller a week ago, and aside from that it's stock, but i've noticed in the last couple of days, that my car is doing something similar, but dying at about 3-4k then kicking in again... turbo and ic are stock, could this be computer related too? My boost levels haven't changed though... It sounds and feels like something is either slipping or losing power/air then jumping back up.... This only happens after 1st gear. I'm mighty confused... any ideas???
  8. I'm kinda going through something related at the moment, except that i was given a timer by a friend. I am trying to install in manually, and i've found that my alarm actually has a turbo timer delay, but when i was asking some other friends about installing, when doing some research into this, i remember my friend saying that you could set up a relay for the turbo timer to either arm the alarm when done, or just divert power to engine and delay alarm for duration ( i can't remember which, but it was something to this effect). Anyway, i still haven't done mine, but aparently it can be done if your alarm doesn't natively support it, but one thing you can do, which i did briefly the other day, is to go into somewhere like autobarn or repco and ask to have a look at the wiring at the back of a timer to check if it's the same as your setup, and try and work it out from there, especially if you can sneak a peak at instructions... good luck with it...
