i speak to older folk when i go to classic car shows and they just carry on about how this car was a POS and everyone who bought one could never drive more than 200km without it breaking down... rovers, jags, alfas... i dont know if any of it is true, but car reputation back in the day was mainly word of mouth and peoples experiences. Now we have the internet to boost the hate a bit. Maybe we're returning to that era of motoring when major failures were a bit more common?

personally, after a DECA or something. give it time to get hot, time at higher rpm, foot down, aggressive steering etc. theres only so much you can do on the street. ive wasted too much money on track days where i barely get 3 sessions (if any).

I read an analysts report on 88E and seems the large rise was just from the better-than-expected results from some tests on the shale 30,000ft down. Everything from here is going to be slow progress (and expensive). They have 2 major repayments to make by end of march, so that going to hit the wallet but they have access to a lot of (loan) money. Personally, i cant imagine gaining anything too substantial for the rest of march. If it goes down noticeably, maybe jump on it. But sounds like its a long term thing (12 months or more). Read somewhere that a profitable region is around $53 a barrel, so still a bit to go. And doesnt look like a major is going to make any moves for a while. Keep in mind that work only happens on that part of Alaska during the summer, so i thought things would shut down October or so. Not sure if they were drilling in Jan/Feb this year though.

at least with Holden and Ford there is info out there online and with local mechanics about possible solutions and repairs. with Audi you are much more likely to be slapped with bills equal to the price of the car (over a period of time). lots of unhappy Q7 owners around...

Someone I know in New Zealand went through all this but his turbo kit was remains of a half-cut from a turbo Y34. There is no aftermarket turbo kit for Y34 (highly unlikely there would be one available in Japan). And there is no guarantee the engine would run well on DD injectors and ECU. There may also be issues with how many oxygen sensors the ECU monitors as well. In summary, its not worth the hassle or the money. Should have thought about this before you bought the car. Some stageas have the VQ30DD and VQ25DD, theyre not identical to the Y34 engines but there should be enough info on SAU to give you some ideas of what mods you can do for performance. Personally, I would do preventative maintenance on the car since you just got it (presumably from Japan). My car gained a lot from just changing spark plugs and coilpacks. A full exhaust system would be good, you could fit a shift kit, throw a Z33 LSD into the diff, inspect/clean the intake plenum because its going to be full of shit (theres a thread on SAU about cleaning the intake, but I cant find it)
