My headaches with were organising repairs through their people. Repairs had to be done soon or it had to be requoted or some Shit. I was working all over the place at the time so it was super inconvenient (especially considering how much they charge for business insurance) and then I got screwed over with the hire vehicle. And then was $150 out of pocket from additional charges from the hire vehicle (which isn't RACVs fault, but pretty poor form I thought)

Interesting info. I'd heard mixed things about the HR motors and the additional complexity when going standalone ecu. Wasn't sure if it was worth the extra cost of the motor itself.

obviously you're going all out (which is great) but considering all the modifications. is going VQXXHR really worth the extra cost over going just normal DE?

so driving the astra on the weekend, going all the way down Mt Dandenong in the usual 1000 steps traffic, get down to the bottom of the hill and notice smoke coming from both front wheel wells. I drove a few hundred meters down the road to cool them a bit, then pulled over to have a look. They didnt seem that hot, and what was still smoking didnt look to be coming from the calipers. Pedal feel is fine, plenty of meat on the pads and have done less than 20,000kms same as the rotors, brakes havent been touched in at least 2-4000kms, brakes are fine before and after incident. Any reason to be concerned? could it be from excess brake dust on the wheels? (its pretty bad, but not neglected-euro bad)

I was looking into an mk5 GT sport diesel earlier this year... after digging deep into the direct injector issue that was basically affecting every car with that particular motor, VW never issued a recall and would only replace on warranty if the owner took the car to the dealership (after it had broken down). no one on the internet ever confirmed it if was injector or loom related. That plus early DSG issue... its not that these issues arent now resolved, its VW's lack of action towards addressing the issue and doing everything in its power to not do a recall.

BMW will hold price better.

I went from EBA hourly rate, 40 hour week with fortnightly RDO (paid 36 hours a week) to Salary, the worlds most complex over-time system, no RDO's and monthly pay. to finally Hourly rate salary, OT penalty rates, no RDO, fortnightly pay. (^ best). RDO fortnightly was a joke, couldnt run a site properly or finish a job as planned. I prefer the extra paid hours.

for all candidates: its BYO Donald Trump toupe. I heard it could help swing some votes.

if history teaches us anything, its that leaving your skyline or evo on the street, in clear view from the street, in a multi-story car park, in your driveway or on a trailer view-able from the street: it's seen as fair game (even if the car doesnt run). I know not everyone has access to a lock-up garage, but personally I wouldnt buy an import unless I did. I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but if it is being left on the street its only a matter of time really.
