  1. Saw the latest McLaren on the road in mordialloc today... a friend of mine drove one in the US as an exotic car thing and apparently you cant rest you hands on the paddles because the car readies itself for a gear change and drives differently... when today's supercars get old, it will be a nasty job keeping them functioning. I dont even know how a Porsche 959 keeps running tbh. apparently it costs around 5000 pounds for a service and some dude in the UK pays that even though it sits indoors and has only ever done 44kms. Porsches now have electronic steering, GTRs go to limp mods if you put an air freshener in it doesnt like, if a 90's Audi with quattro blows a box 30 years from now there isnt one left in the world to replace it. Where will DSG be 20 years from now? will it still function? I dont know much about R31s and their dated technologies but most other classic cars dont really have the tech redundancy issues that yesteryears cars will have to face. It seems kit cars are the only true way of the future for simple cars with simple problems. Today its not hard to remove/replace/repair power windows or mirrors or HICAS or whatever, but if your electrically controlled steering and gear stick one day cark it... what you gonna do? retrofit one from a different car? gooby please, it will be left to the patient, rich enthusiasts who wear car-branded sweaters and sports jackets and cuff links. I once was at a meeting with some higher-up bosses and I couldnt take the main dude seriously because he had BMW cuff-links. what do you drive? a 325i muthaf**ka?
  2. "its a turbo" lol. smart cars have turbos too
  3. most SAUvic endorsed track days has a driver training group where an experienced member/driver jumps in the car with you to give any pointers and safety tips or assistance. it's a great way to start out a first track day
  4. jelly? golf the new civic? SAU has been in people's faces a lot this year I think. not surprising people see what the fuss is
  5. someone should rock up in an interceptor, cause it sounds good but looks shit. that'll teach em
  6. at airport now. only here for emotional support and chauffeur. wouldn't mind so much if the mrs' mother wasn't here. would rather be seeing a musical theatre performance... oh wait, I have to do that tonight too. :| kinda wish I was at work all day.
  7. oil starvation
  8. this. Joey and the plot twist was on imdb.
  9. magic school bus?
  10. 11.6? damn. what tyres? stock engine with bolt-ons (injectors, turbo, exhaust and ECU) won't crack 200 and still I cost me $600 for a tune. I'm thinking its worthy getting work done on it now while it's out. the block still requires machining to convert to FWD got call from engine builder last night... spun 1 bearing, scoring on saddle and caps, cam lobes and springs damaged... sounds like I might have over-revved it too :S which I kinda remember doing at sandown. my shift light should get chucked in once back on the road and then get an electrical-cut rev limiter...
  11. stock parts? that's boring... and probably more expensive (for what you get).
  12. there is one in Japan that someone offered me. probs more than $3k and I can't inspect internals before importing. 2.2 introduces cooling issues and more chance of f**king up gearbox with extra torque
  13. there comes a time in everyone's life where he must choose the specs of his engine... engine is farked. new block, new cams, new rods, new oil pump...
  14. goofy please. at the movies Inception came in at No.3. it's now No.15 and on the decline. it's like last.fm, Coldplay has 150,000,000 listens, doesn't mean they're any good.
  15. if you were experienced in the art the of the internet, young one (), you'd know that all movies fresh out of the cinemas get overloaded with fans of the films and people who get hard-ons for tom cruise and 3D. Avatar was in the top 10 during its release but has since slumped to off the 250 list. I think IMDB combated this by preventing movies under 12 months old to breach the top 250 list. Give it a year or two and wait to see where it stands.
  16. I like spoilers if its a movie its gotten widely mediocre to negative reviews and I dont think it'd be worth seeing. eg. Oblivion. But you gotta go looking for them. googling spoilers is handy.
  17. Home Alone didnt have a plot twist. Lost In Translation didnt have a plot twist. Monsters Inc. didnt have a plot twist. Every Stanley Kubric probably didnt have a plot twist. Oliver Twist didnt have a plot twist. Twister didnt have a plot twist. The Plot To Kill Hitler didnt have a plot twist. Joey and the Plot Twist didnt have a plot twist.
  18. The Boss 3. a person who makes decisions, exercises authority, dominates *whip crack*
  19. haha havent seen the movie yet. The Boss wants to see a movie before she goes and its a toss-up between F&F6 and The Place Beyond The Pines. ie. packed cinema for brain-dead flick or small cinema for a drama.
  20. you're not even a club member. pfft.
  21. Ja Rule still in prison or else he probably would have made a cameo in F&F6.
  22. makes me think of Scary movie 3. I did chuckle a lot during that movie.
  23. Have you got a back-up plan for the exhaust if you get flagged for noise? If PI are running a 75db and the pipes are facing the tower.... hell people still get stung on 95db if the wind is blowing the wrong direction.
  24. Deeeeezzz nuts
  25. cant exactly have a distillery sitting next my gun rack. when theyre not pulling over skylines, theyre in people houses checking on safes/lockers.
