No - is great idea! I think Ash is working something with the Fangartist guys - where we even get trophies and stuff. This is good to gauge interest... then the dynamic duo can plan the nitty gritty part of the event. Maybe even another Lada competition...
-
OK - that one a bit out of town, found another one in town for $89 a night... but I'm sure as soon as we tell them there are 20 odd people wanting to stay, we'll get a good rate So... any ideas on numbers? Might be worth starting an 'open poll' thread to get an idea of who wants to come to compete and/or spectate. Will make accomodation logistics much much easier.

It was visually stunning, acting was on par - hell, even as a stand-alone movie it was OK, but... I felt they spoilt the whole story with this film. The overiding premise of the Matrix is that we are humans in stasis - being stimulated by machines to believe we live in the world we do - whilst serving as a renewable power source. Some of us humans become 'aware' of this existance, and fight against the controlling machines in the 'real' world - and become 1337 in teh computer h4X0r world - as it is just a simulation, physical rules do not apply. What a cool idea. Trinity is hot, but Lawrence sure does crap on a bit. The second film began to stretch this a bit - and made it seem that the 'real' world was also a simulation and that Colonel Sanders was simply an overworked IT guy running a debugging loop - that no matter if the real world was another facet of the Matrix, what was real is our ability to choose a direction and course of action whether indide the Matrix or no. Kinda mushy and Scarecrow, I'm going to miss you most of all type crap, but there was a cool car chase. I like hot chicks in patent-leather catsuits, I want a Ducatti, but geeze, Lawrence - OK, we get it, now shut the hell up. The third film - well perhaps I, personnaly, wanted closure to the story. A mass realisation by the trapped human hordes, a dawning of the Zion citizens that they too were 'simulated' - or even a human vs machines battle that left a small number of people alive to start a brave new world and tell stories of the warrior of the wasteland.. oops, wrong film. Instead... we got Lawrence 'I simply wont shut my preachin' mouth' Fishburne prattling on the entire movie, a facelifted oracle, a rip off of the General Zod vs Superman fight, a rip off of Tron in the MCCR neon city, Neo crying - with no f*cking eyes - and then the whole Jesus matyr thing with Keanu being taken away by a giant tentacle raping robot in the end. No closure. No cool car chase. I was disappointed. What the hell was all that train station crap? Ruined the original premise of the first film - by trying to be too epic and mindf*cky. Just my 5c (is longer than a 2c post)

Oh - boo to you Rosco. Death Race and AOD? Did you see we had DR on the TV at AutoSalon David Carradine is the B-grade of D-grade. Stalone's best work in my book. But not Army of Darkness - say it ain't so So much quality, so many notable quotes - where would a generation of Duke Nukem players be without that movie? I even have the rare director's cut on VHS somewhere with the crappy 'I slept too long' ending rather than the 'yo she-bitch... let's go' bit Shop smart. Shop S-Mart.

Visit http://www.street-weapons.net - forum user who runs it is Memphis Nice URL and stove-top decals posted express to your door.

Rigga: Haha - nice reviews. Speaking of Paulie Shore... his TV version, Screech from Saved By The Bell, was on celebrity boxing the other night. Absolute gold
-
Comfort Inn - 'Peppermill' 3.5 star Off the cuff: 3x bed room = $76 - so $25 each And I'm sure we can get a better rate for lots of people.
-
Indeedy. Will speak to Shep tourism people and see about group-rate hotels.

Top day! Thanks to everyone who came along. I think it's fair to say that the citizens of inner-northwest country Victoria now know what Skylines are Here is the photo from the winery - i've put a couple of names in already... but PM/email/post who you are, who others are - or if you're not in the photo. Again - thanks Great work to the group-leaders for (mostly) not getting people separated or lost - 50 cars is a helluva logistics exercise Very pleased there were no speeding tix or 'incidents'. Can't wait for the next one. James

Dreamcatcher: It was just plain f*cked Robin Hood, Men In Tights: Dragged along to this against my will - and it sucked. Matrix 3 (Revawhatever): Obvioisly no-one at Warner Bros knows the 'aint broke, don't fix' mantra
-
Ah - Fight Club. I think that should be a given for everyone. Fantastic film - book is excellent and worth a read. If anyone wants to borrow - let me know
-
Oooh - yes please!

My favourite: Re: Hit and run damage on parked cars: What isn't mentioned is the damage inflicted by Ash's car on the neighbours as it is backed out of said driveway.
-
Haha - Vidiot. I need to see that again. Any movie that has Kramer turning a fire-hose on a small child is good in my book. Also, golden moment: Door with sign 'Supplies' Bad guy opens door Ninja jumps out and kicks his ass Ninja says 'Supplies!' Leewah: I just got CBR 1 on DVD - CBR 2 on its way Love that Lambo.
-
That would be awesome Shan - $130 clams is a bit rich if you ask me... but I guess Missy gots to pay for her Lambo somehow...

Rob: Yep. It took me 15mins from my front door - so I think 25 from Chaddy is reasonable. -
Yeah - a club photo would be better than individual feature articles.
-
Haha - top stuff! I bought that on DVD last week - I hadn't seen it since 1988 or so. Jack Burton still rocks as a suburban hero. My brother and I used to watch it at least twice a week - in fact, I think it was the first movie we 'pirated' with mum's VCR and granny's VCR and some stolen BNC cables. Ah - memories.
-
Would like 2 if possible. Just not keen on $130 retail - I gots clutches to buy... Email me if you can help: Thanks James

A little bit more PG than Ash's deep dicking thread - what are your top 5 favourite movies? You may have liked Police Acadamy 1-5 the best (6 just plain sucked) - but try to vary the genres - and even provide some rationale for your responses. Give us all a bit of an insight oh why you like these films. Maybe we can pool the results and have an SAU DVD night... Anyhoo: 1. Aliens - Sci Fi The movie that taught me to hate Paul Riser. A timeless classic of the space hero vs space monster story. A-grade acting from B-grade stars. The last great sci-fi adventure to be made with sets rather then green-screen CGI - thus giving it's endeering realism and the fact it is still watchable 18-years from its release. Ripley! 2. North by Northwest - Classic Thriller Hitchc*ck at his finest. Funny, glamorous and exciting - with all the class of the 60's. Cary Grant is excellent as the accidental-hero. Always keen to mak the chicks, and stop for a dry martini. Fantasitc chase down Mt Rushmore - and that Frank Lloyd Wright house... mmmm. 3. American Psycho - Thriller/Arthouse Every cinematographic element of this film is flawless. A good 'thinking' film - very dark humor lets you look past the implied violence for a more interesting story. Christian Bale is the best 'love to hate' character - and the business card scene always cracks me up. 4. A Life Less Ordinary - Romantic/Comedy Under-rated. Bizzare 'angels on earth' love story - with awsome acting/dialogue from everyone involved. Top soundtrack too - Karaoke scene proves Cameron Diaz can't sing for sh*t 5. Akira - Animation Manga benchmark. Fantasic animation, cool characters - and a bizarre WTF story that could never make it in the live-action world. The 'remastered' version is even better with full 5.1 audio.

Just a reminder for anyone who wants to donate stuff to the SAU VIC raffle - to bring your stuff on Saturday to the cruise. We have a few things already - brake pads, gear knobs, DVD - etc If you have anything that might be a worthy (or fun) prize to kick in - please bring The more stuff we have, the more draws we'll have - and the more chance of winning something.
