ive got a gt30r on a rb20 with a .63ar turbine. engine also has 'low' compression (140 across the board). right now it runs tooo freeking lean under spool so it takes forever to spool up but once it does it hits like a sledge hammer and you are off.

nengun sells the block, rods, pistons and hg needed for a n1 bottom end.

heh, 240rwkw is kinda sad at 16psi as i put down 288rwkw on 17psi with a gt30r. my setup is laggy but its due to poor tuning, once i have a go at the tuning it should be spooled by 4k easy.

hehe, yeah there is a place here stateside that will test oil for whats floating around in it...... yeah im using the emanage to fork with the maf signal (which it does do well) but since the ecu has an agressive timing map (actualy on the ecu) forking around with the maf voltage makes it feel terrible if i do it too much. if i dont use the emanage to correct it runs too lean due to the timing map...... so its a catch 22 untill i can get the biki rom where i can see where i am on the maps. there isnt that much correction on the map like +10 pts which isnt too terribly much but its enough to fork with the signal enough to really make it feel weird. from what it looks like i might be able to get full boost at 4k assuming i can add fuel in the right spots (which i cant do with the emanage right now) and it should have a fairly beast/wide power curve if i can get it that way...... i will let you guys know my results tho for sure, because once the car spools its frightenly quick. -

well over here stateside we like to run ours at about 80-85%, i know some guys in japan and nz will push it up to 95% but thats just too much, the injector needs time to cycle and cool. -

yeah i think that the oilpump is culprit because when i drain oil out of the sump its free of metalic where as when i pull the filter it drains off very fine flake...... as far as turbo response its a given that since this is a large turbo on a 20 its gonna be a bit laggy but im almost postive that with more fuel on spool up and some cam tweaking i should get a better response and more power over all. right now as it stands im not making good power because of the emanage, the ecu has a hot timing map and by using the emanage it just messes it up so that its in the wrong spots on the maps........ ive got a BIKIrom on order from lucas in australia but being in the us means i get to wait for parts........however if i can enrichen the actual fuel map then i should see an even better response and more power under the curve which would make my day. as for boost when i pulled 288rwkw it was at 17psi, so moderate boost levels with room to go...... -
gt30r is teh win on the rb20, just add some cams and an agressive timing map and you can get spool earlier than 5k. i need to add more fuel on spool up so it spools faster but man when it hits it hits hard and goes to 8 like no other.

ive found that my oil pump isnt too happy with me right now, fine metalic in the filter. have been limiting trips to 8k and running 20w50 oil in the car and she seems to be doing better. -
ive a simmilar problem on my 20 right now and its due to the lack of the gasket/insulator thats normaly on the front timing cover as mine was destroyed when it got powdercoated....... if the cas securing bolts (3) are rubbing then perhaps cut the tips off with a dremmel tool. else try puting some kind of space between the bolts when you bolt the cas on and see if that helps.

dunno about who sells them in australia but they are indeed good controlers as ive one on my car...... they def work with the blue emanage but from what ive been told if you update the SD card it will also talk to a ultimate.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> well that is certianly very curious as to why its not making power because with that setup i would expect a fairly fast spool and good powerband. do you have a cat on the car? if you do perhaps it is melted shut. on my car the charge pipes are 2.5" and my exhaust is 2.5" to 3" back (turbo elbow is 2.5"). -

fuel pump, when they get old or have been run down to the bottom of the tank a few times they tend to be a bit iffy. check fuel filter first tho.... -
its cam and bucket and since the rb20 uses hydro lifters no shims to adjust. make sure to put lots of assembly lube on the cam journals to help it when it starts.

gt30r............all you need on the rb20. build the engine to rev to 8k reliably and you will have an obcenely fast and fun street car.

bah 12psi is too low on a gt30r not even on the compressor map........ boost it to 14 then tell us how it goes. also the stock bov is good for stock turbos but big tubos need some flow for the BPV. another option would be to run dual bov's to vent boost but at that point the fab work and cost would make it cheaper to buy a highflow bov/bpv

wow, full standalone and not making 260rwkw? is it just a poor tune or lack of igntion to make things happen? i made that 387rwhp pull on stock ecu that i had chipped for 550 injectors and z32 maf, other than that it just has a hot timing map and we added some fuel with an emanage (which sucks btw....). perhaps a new tuner is in the picture? -

when i had my rb20 in my old car (s13 hatch) i found it to be boat loads of fun. now the car (s14) sounds like a pissed off supra when rowing thru the gears, im glad i never did go the sr20 route its so played out and the rb20 just has so much soul to its ehxuast note and loves to be thrashed. to be honest i dont think i ever had more fun than the stock rb20 in the s13, better ic would have made it better thats for sure. -

yeah, old girl doesnt do too badly for an engine with about 160k MI on it now and low compression (140 across the engine). neeeeeee fuel tho, timing map is too agressive with this turbo and not enough fuel. -

r32 rb20det (late model) swapped into USA s14 chassis RIPS intake mani tomei 260/8.8 cams greddy cam gears (currently zeroed out) gt30r turbo with .63ar turbine 550 supra injectors fmic 24x3.5x6 hks exh mani and gate retuned ecu for injectors and z32 maf with tweaked timing map from the looks of it the lag is proly caused by the lean condition on spool up, once i get my biki rom from bad biki life should be much better. -
