  1. those manifolds suck. one of my buddies here got one for his rb20 and had to fix alot of stuff wrong with it before it was usable. iirc the runners wernt welded straight, so it was causing intake turbulance and restriction.
  2. i have a tomei r32 gtr pump in my s14 and it came with that little pressre relief valve as well. i believe its for a stock car to buffer the pressure and to keep it consistent with stock bits, but i have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator sooooooo i opeted to leave it out, hasnt caused any problems yet.
  3. my gt30r will spin for a minute after shutdown. course it is a dual steel BB unit so its to be expected.
  4. where exactly are these plugs located on the rb20?
  5. im currently sorting issues with my rb20, have to fab up a real intake as the old girl doesnt like sucking in air right off of the manifold. rb20 + gt30r seems to be the mint way to go, but i have yet to get a proper dyno as im still chasing problems related to power....... i will post pics of my latest setup as it should be fun when all is said and done.....
  6. stock TB, rob at RIPS said that it should be good to 450bhp and if i needed more the manifold is set up for an overbore TB. as for the filter setup, its nothing more than some wire mesh i got at the craft store (1/4" spacing i believe) and a 'detailers pad' i got at the local parts store with the foam removed. filter gets dirty quick so it requires frequent changing, lucily its cheap to replace (bout 3$usd for a pack of 4).
  7. haha, yeah we wernt lucky enought to have the sr in our cars over here, altho with the money ive spent on the rb i could have had a right nasty ka24de. its got its ups and downs but ive almost got her running right, once i sort out the strange boost problem (boost isnt constant, always changes) it should be fun to sneak up on ppl with. *edit* over here in the us its about 3.5-4k usd for a good sr front clip, where as the rb20 only cost me 1.2k usd. while i may have spent alot of money on this setup it cost me less to build this than it would have cost to swap in a stock sr.
  8. well my car is nearly done with just a few minorsetbacks keeping me from drving it (radiator broke). its taken me a while to amass parts and get her in the car but she is in and running. let me know what you think. mods: rb20det swap tomei procams 260/8.8 lift greddy cam gears greddy belt hks exhaust mani and wastegate hks race bov GT30R with .63 turbine housing rc engineering 550cc injectors RIPS front facing plenum fmic (24"l 6.5"h 3.5"w) bar and plate std ecu with chip for 550's and z32 maf greddy emanage and e-01
  9. is that an rb20 in your 180? i would be keen to know what kind of mods you have done to it.
  10. well it seems that the old alternator isnt up to snuff anymore and the fact that i have electric fans isnt helping the hunk of metal out any. anyways im having troubles keeping a stable idle under a large electrical load, ie; both fans running, lights on, emanage and wideband powered up. what is the stock rating on the alternator and is it possible to have it rewound for a higher amperage so the current draw wont hit it so hard?
  11. proly the sender, on my rb20 s13 install i wired up the r32 cluster into the car. all gauges worked but my oil was always a bit weird. it would register pressure and all but if revs dipped down it would say i had no oil pressure. now in my s14 the only time that the light comes on is when the car is shut off (new pressure switch).

  13. ive the trust pullies on my rb20 and they seem to be quite a piece of kit. too bad the car hasnt moved out of my driveway in awhile, so ive no idea on the wear patterns. i do run the covers all the time for fear of a stray stone wrecking the engine.

  15. i would say yes. anything above 5v the ecu has no idea whats going on.
  16. give me about 2 weeks and my rb20 will be in my s14...... its currently got a gt30r with a .63 ar bolted to a hks manifold with the gate set at 14psi/1bar. i also threw in tomei procams (260/8.8mm lift intake/exhaust) to help it along and some greddy gears. currently the fuel rail is loaded with some 550's and gonna burn a custom chip to change redline as well as control the larger squirters. will be using a emanage to tune with a tech edge wideband....... should go quitenicely...... oh and some one on here said they used a gt30 with a .86 ar on an rb20 and they got 14psi at around 4k.

  19. roy is my hero! congrats on your succssess with the good old rb20, if done right they will hang with the big guys. i cant wait to get my rb finished and swapped into my s14, should be a treat! just have to pick up cams on monday and fit them and it goes into the car.
  20. yeah, i got an email back from them today. looks like the cam gears are supposed to be in sometime this week then shipping out to me next week. sucks waiting tho but hey ive been without boost because i was upgrading the old rb20 while it was out of the car for nearlt 7 months now, whats a few more weeks.
  21. i ordered some greddy cam gears from these guys on the 14th and its now the 30th and still no gears or any confirmation of the gears being sent. the website still says processing, but how long does it take? i was under the impression that they would let me know if it was gonna be awhile, and 15 days is quite some time. this is my first time ordering from them but so far im not impressed...... any thoughts? carl
  22. hey there all. ive got a set of 7mgte injectors bolted to my rb20 right now. ive got a question tho regarding impedence as teh rb20 are high and the supras are low. i measure 13.5ohms for the rb20 and 2.1 ohms for the 7mgte. ive got a set of 10 ohm 10watt 5% resistors to put inline with the injectors. will this be enough to prevent the injectors/ecu from burning out or will i need more?
  23. for less than 1500AUD i got a very well made intake mani by RIPS in NZ, as for power #'s ive no idea as my engine is still sitting on the stand awaiting cams to make use of the free flowing intake plenum and the hks exhaust mani i have now.
  24. i got them to fit well today, had to use the mk3 7mgte isolators that go between the mani and the injectors. cost me about 20$usd but they are nice and snug now.
  25. come on im sure some one has upgraded injectors before.
