  2. you would not buy a straight cut box if you are worried about the noise. When I had it as a street car I would just turn on the radio. It is not too bad.
  3. Sorry for the late reply, Parts are made to order by Hollinger, my box just had a full rebuild using all genuine Hollinger parts. While parts are not cheap, they rarely break. Some parts are interchangeable with other models and some are literally made to order.

  5. Ok I am selling my The gearbox has just had a complete rebuild with all genuine Holinger parts. Comes as a complete package, transfer case, triple plate clutch etc for you to bolt straight in. The box was behind by R33 GTR that as run at WTAC a few time and last dyno'd at 1027hp. Box never missed a beat until I had a not so great driver behind her. On holingers website it is as follows - The HKS-GTR was developed for tuning company HKS, and was effectively a double-overdrive ratio version of the GRA-6N, GTR Skyline transmission. Will also run 2wd if you swap out the transfer case. To buy a replacement with the extras u need to run it you are looking at over 20k. Pic is for reference $10500 located in Rydalmere

  8. I am from JLM and yes the guys are right the blueslip is only an inspection. What John P is doing is trying to save you a little grief at the RTA that is all (he's being helpful) as many RTA / RMS staff are not aware of the rules on imports. The argument is this - The car will already be in the RTA / RMS system as they as almost completely linked now so the majority of the details will already be in the AIS online system. If it is already there the slip is very easy to do. Unless the car is a 15 year rule car with no "compliance plate" it does not need an engineers report & if you go to the right RTA office who understands the import system they will just process the car through for you. Not all RTA / RMS offices understand the rules, I even have trouble registering cars sometimes at the local office and have to tell the person behind the counter how to process the paperwork. Honestly the RTA / RMS system and it's rules contradict themselves on a daily basis and that is why many shops have different opinions on how to get an import registered. If we can help just pop in with what you have got and we will sort it out for you on the day.
  9. Ok just to let you in a on a little hint - Adam has a Stagea in our shop that we lodged a very long time ago with Dotars. He has just had a new baby and needed a station wagon so we bought one and shipped it - now this is for him personally and his wife is a very tough woman (being nice here). He has been getting no end of grief about the time it has taken to comply the car from his wife - so he especially understands your frustration. The worst thing that anyone can do is call DOTARS and give them the vin on their car and say it is taking too long, as this makes them look at your vin and if they are visiting Sydney or wherever the compliance shop is they will stop in and check the car. Now if they find one thing that does not comply on the car (it could be a missing seatbelt tag or say Nismo taillights) they will hold the car up for at least 6 weeks while they go through the paperwork response from the RAWS shop (this is referred to as DI - discussion item). Other things cause DI's such as using a fullstop in the wrong place (yes that simple) and some VIS (vehicle inspection certificates) are 8 + pages long it is more than frustrating for me personally as I do 80% of our paperwork. I often spend more time fixing up a DI that actually complying a car - just to make DOTARS happy. We all know minor things make ZERO difference in the real world but these guys are like Highway Patrol cops and seem to get off on slowing things down. I prefer to get cars in and out quick as that is how we make money - the longer a car sits the less space we have to work and in practice the less money we make. If one of the DOTARS staff goes on Holidays his / her work just piles up. Perfect example - we had 13 cars sitting in bonded storage @$20 per day due to the fact we were unable to get VIA's from the second week of Dec to the 1st week of Feb. Why might you ask ? Well they had the majority of their staff off on annual leave and ran a skeleton staff just to get the VICS processed. By the way we paid the $260 per day not the clients as we try to be fair with everybody. Yes I called to ask what was happening and was told "the rules state you can't ship the car until you get the VIA", which is correct but if you sit a car on the wharf in Japan you will also accumulate storage fees. It is a calculated risk if you ship prior to getting the VIA but 90% of the time it works ok. I hope this explains things a little better.

OK I am one of the owners of JLM and just to let you all know what we have been up to with Compliance - An R32 GTR was delivered to our shop approx. 5 weeks ago now before you jump up and down and say IT IS TAKING TOO LONG - READ ON. I personally watched the car arrive on the truck while chatting to a SAU forum member had dropped into our shop for a chat. To start with the car was running on the truck when it pulled up, the driver damaged both front & rear bumpers getting it off the truck. The people who know me will understand why I flipped it at the driver - who casually said 'I did not damage the car 'and drove off. Upon opening the bonnet the car dropped all of it's coolant on my driveway and on closer inspection the temp guage was of the scale. I called Iron Chef (Kristian) to advise him of the issues and sent pics. The car was that hot it took over an hour to cool down far enough to get the temp guage to drop below H. We let the car cool completely and added coolant, upon starting we heard the worst news any Skyline owner can hear "bearing knock". On the phone again to Iron Chef to advise of the further issue and yes Kristian was suitably upset to say the least. Now the R32 is a really nice example - under 100k's genuine. As any importer knows the freight company covers ZERO damages generally, it is even harder when they say "must have happened in JAPAN". Now we heavily support the SAU family and Iron Chef (Kristian) apart from being a great client is a personal friend of mine, he's not a bad guy. I went to town in support of both Kristian and the R32 owner. The freight company inspected the car twice and some "expert" inspected the R32 on the freight companies behalf - all of whom denied liability. Kristian and I agreed we had to fix the R32 GTR and it could not leave the shop until it was running like it should be. Now the question was - WHO IS GOING TO PAY? We both agreed it had to be the freight company but they refused to pay upfront for a complete bottom end rebuild on an RB26. The repairs ran at over $6,000. The situation was resolved when I met with the GM and CEO of the freight company and came to a compromise - JLM will do the repair and the freight company will credit me with freight on car imports, this will take a year to recoup as I rarely import cars anymore unless it is something special. The agreement was reached approx 2 weeks ago. I am not trying to make myself or JLM look good \, I am simply explaining that we try very hard to make sure everything goes smoothly for our clients. We support our friends and extended family from SAU and will continue for many years to come. Just to make problems worse - ACL no longer make gaskets and they will stop bearing production by the end of April / May. I have ordered all genuine parts for this RB from Nissan - Gasket kit was X JAPAN.
  11. New members should read more and realise that many of us own mutliple Skylines and in some cases have had many more. The advise offered is free and should be taken into consideration when making any decision on purchase. We have all been 1st time Skyline buyers and thought the Salesman is super honest. Look I am a dealer but only do special orders and the one piece of advise that I can give you is this "Salesmen are not your friends". Most dealers are only in it for the money - see what they drive - do they race - do they go to skyline days - generally no.
  12. she has been stripped so many times - it was only after we got her that we started to add all of the goodies in. Yes we have been to Top Secret Japan several times and have purchased a couple of cars from the boys (by the way smokey is hardly ever there but his business partner is not a bad guy). The current driveline we purchased on one trip - the shipping killed me. On the first trip they checked the vin and identified the car as one of theirs but mentioned - wow it has been stripped. So from then onwards we have been buying new bits for her when the money becomes available. We have spent over $100k since we picked her up and we have just spent $45k more on her Nov - Dec. The car is actually featuring in GTR Japan (not sure of month yet) as our engine builder "Garage Yoshida" is being featured and Kozo is using our car as one of the engines he has built. He is currently building another RB26 to run at this years WTAC. Before anyone comments - yes we can build engines but I personally like my race engines built by Kozo and for the guys here that know him you know what I am talking about.
  13. I am updating the brakes on my R33 GTR so I am seeling off the brakes currently fitted. The calipers are Factroy Brembos Front Rotors are DB 5000's 324mm Front Pads EBC blue Rear rotors are DB 4000's Rear Pads are EBC Red The rotors and pads were changed less than 300k's ago so they are like new. The rotors cost me $1500 The pads cost me $ 1200 Brembos front & rear are worth ? The setup is a great upgrade for anyone Selling the entire setup $2600

  15. I am cleaning up and have a set of R32 GTR doors Both doors come as shells or can be complete (minus trims) 2 door shells - $350 2 complete doors - $400 R32 GTR rear cradle - $150 GTR Grille $80 I am located in Sydney.
  16. funny but yes you are right Kristian, you have driven more K's in it than me Especially at WTAC. I would really like to see the market reflect the actual value of the cars - such as real K GTR's like your N1, Terry's N1 and other SAU members rides. Many people do not realise that in some cases some of the cars already in Aust are cheaper than the ones in Japan. People just need to realise that we are not the only people who love GTR's - The japanese love them as much as us and they pay big dollars for great examples - The same as we do. On the otherhand if it is a high K's car they tend to be "EXPORT QUALITY" and bought often by not so nice dealers - you know the ones - the guys who say "deal with the warranty company" when something goes wrong.   17. Yes it was a compliment. On the otherhand you actually understand the the way the monkeys in Canberra work - we work to their rules but often the new staff down there make them up as they go. Tell me how many other brokers understand the system ? - VERY FEW
  18. I see a few members do not know me well. Yes I help a lot of members when I can and a few are into me for engine builds, major repairs (pay as you go jobs - things you do for friends) I will help anyone until they burn me. The R35 refered to in this thread is the best I have ever had the privilege to see let alone work on and yes I have been to AutoSalon Japan. If you get a chance to see his car you will probably agree, as the owner is like the rest of us - he loves his skylines. If he every sold the car I would be at the head of the line to buy her.
  19. Hey be nice Kristian, we both buy our personal toys privately in Japan as that is often the only way to get exactly what you want (it can take 6 months or more). It does help you lived there and my wife is Japanese. Generally only very few people can get a car privately and they are generally very special cars. As to xport certificate - the new ones have new security features to stop changes. On the otherhand - I have not seen an original in the past 10 cars I have complied. Look at my R33 - it has done 652k's in the past 5 years - more than 100ks on the dyno. (sorry just being smug)
