Cubes, as i said in my post, as long as a vehicle remains a reasonable ride height then i dont see why aftermarket should be a problem if its set up properly. Even australian products like peddars or whiteline suspension components are illegal because they alter the height of the vehicle. And i agree with the fact that if your car is scraping on the ground your asking for it. But, in my case, my car isnt lowered and entirely runs the standard suspension, instead i have after market arches fitted to make the car look lower, and ive still had to argue my way out of trouble without the car being properly looked at, instead of the officer just slipping his fingers inside the fibreglass arches to feel where the metal arch started i had to listen to a lecture on ride height before he finally got distracted by another vehicle doing something illegal and left in a hurry while telling me to get the car fixed before he saw it again as i wouldnt be so lucky next time. My point being that too many cops dont know what there looking at, and shooting off at the mouth giving me a lecture because im a "hoon" in an "import" is unacceptable. I also agree that there should be legislation which gives us some room to move on what can be done to make some modifications legal if they meet certain requirements. And L3enny, thanks for clearing that up for me, could never get that sort of explaination even from the guys at regency, might have to look into getting the car engineered for future reference!

i agree with Tangles on this one, modifying suspension by replacing it with a high performance brand is obviously going to improve the handling of a car if its set up properly, its why these companies spend millions of dollars putting the brain work in to make sure that there products perform like they say they will. I dont see why this should be defectable as long as a reasonable ride height is maintained. GTSTD1, Are you able to tell me why a BOV is illegal when all they do is vent air?

Hey nisskid, if your refering to my stagea being a 4 door, yes im a 4 door whore...lol, but i still have my 32 aswell! And as far as the auto box.....mine being a 260rs means it has the full GTR running gear including the 5 speed manual!
-
Hey Maxx, yeah i was at the drive ins when it came out, i assume you were one of the group of imports that rolled in behind me? Yeah its a habit reffering to it as an RS260 as thats what people seem to know it as although your right the badge on the back does say 260RS, i think it comes from people knowing what an RS4 is, so the they naturally assume its RS260, plus its what my number plates say being alpha numeric!
-
Yeah the sedan would be pretty tuff, but the wagon is so helpful, you can fold the back seats flat and.....well carry stuff....yeah thats what i was thinkn
-
Hi Maxx, an RS260 is a nissan stagea that has the rb26 and full running gear from a gtr fitted into it, they are modified by a company called autech straight from the nissan factory. There were only 200 made worldwide in my year model. And yes i own one...

R32_4door, looks good, i do agree with deluxe that i would have done the boot too, but then again if you look at my car you can see im a bit bias towards black! Keep up the good work!
-
Tangles, I could go reverse panda cos mines already black! ha ha!

After reading through the topic i cant help but agree with alot of whats said. Police have gone out of there way to specifically target imports for a few years now, but in recent times it has gotten far worse and is getting to the point where it is ridiculous. As any car enthusiast will agree, it is a labour of love that goes into modifying our cars to be something special in our own ways. The problem is just because our cars look nicer than most cars on the road why should we be jumped on for it? My 32 is now 15 years old, but i bet any money that its in better condition that alot of cars that are only a few years old. Alot of after market parts improve the performance and handling of a car that in no way make it dangerous yet are illegal. I can understand that a car that is so low that its dragging along the ground could be seen as illegal, but fitting a set of coiovers and sitting it down an inch lower than standard shouldnt be made such an issue like police do, especailly with the state of alot of other cars on the road. Im a firm believer that if your driving like a hoon and you get caught then you have to be prepared to be bent over, but when i drive around behaving speed limits and all other road rules being tagged as a hoon infuriates me. Particularly with any visual modifications, ie bodykits, i have rang and checked with regency about what is allowed and what is not, the only answer they could give me is that you have to have atleast 100mm ground clearance and items need to be securely mounted, and particularly in reference to bonnets, your not allowed to have and forward facing scoops or vents, yet i have been warned while parked that i could be defected for a bonnet that has rear facing vents and a body kit that is too close to the ground!! What i would like to see is our police being better trained to know what the rules are, ive heard to many stories of cops saying "i think thats illegal, so we'll just send you to regency to be sure". That in my opinion is crap. If you cant be sure that its illegal then rack off. Im lucky enough to have a daily driver thank god, and i have great sympathy for those guys that have to use there imports for work, cos the more driving you do the more chance you seem to have of getting picked up for something trival and end up being reamed for it. The time and money i have spent on modifying my car should be an indication to police that its obviously looked after and im sick of being picked on for it. I have a car that i adore locked in my shed that i may take the chance in driving a handful of times a year these days as im too scared to take it out anymore, wheres the justice in that?? With these new anti hoon laws and cars being impounded i fear there will be a sudden rise in high speed chases that will end in bad circumstances due to owners that love there cars not wanting to hand over there cars in a hurry....only time will tell i guess. Sorry for the long winded post, but its something i have a strong opinion on.

Thanks for the suggestion tangles, but im greedy, ill keep them all and still work on the Stagea! lol! And thanks for the idea cubes, i was thinkn of telling them the car wasnt there and how much id love to help them out but i just cant seem to think where i left it last.....damn that memory of mine!
-
Thanks Madaz, they are some fun toys thats for sure! As far as the running in im going by what the manufacturer has told me, i no from previous rebuilds on cars that to let them work is good as long as there not labouring too hard, but apparently thats not the case with a bike from what the service guys told me, but its something ill definitely look into as i dont want to end up with any problems after how much ive spent on it!

Thanks munch, i know the stock quarter times on a stock 33 gtr are 12.6, and a stock rs260 is 12.9, so there not alot slower for the weight difference, but with my exhaust mods and double the stock boost i would hope to see some improvement over stock power outputs. Any power listings for any of the high power jap cars always seems to say 206, which ive been told is an understatement even from factory, thats why i wondered what an accurate guess might be. I need to find time to get to a 4wd dyno, but as far as i know none are on my side of town. Can anyone suggest anywhere with a reliable 4wd dyno in adelaide?

Hi guys, being the owner of a heavily modified 32 i myself have received some serious unwanted attention from the boys in blue. Mine also is not the quietest of cars, and with hks cams it lumps over pretty harshly too. Ive had police come to my house when i still lived at home and my dad answered the door, they asked to speak to me in relation to driving offenses etc, dad asked them what in particular they were referring to, when they mentioned reckless driving the previous night and the car i was driving dad told them that i was asleep and wasnt going to bother waking me up for something so pathetic and told them to get there facts straight before bothering me again as i wasnt even driving the 32 the night before and it had been locked in the shed all night. They then asked if they could see the car and he said they had no reason too. He then told them to leave. Never heard anything after that either, but the point is i wasnt driving the car the night before, so where the hell did they get the idea from? After reading this thread im beginnning to think that it must have been some pathetic fool with too much spare time on there hands thats tried to get me in trouble by ringing up and making a complaint, only problem being that they stuffed up on the assumption i was driving the car the night they accused me. Im waiting for the day they try to come to my house and defect my car as you have to get through one garage, across a back yard with 2 very large and not so friendly dogs, then into a locked and alarmed shed, because i wont be showing it to them willingly thats for sure. If they ask ill say no, and i dont see that they can force you to let them in, atleast without a warrant. Sorry for the rant but im sick of being hassled by the cops when i dont do anything wrong, if im acting like a hoon ill wear it, but i havent had a speeding fine for over 2 years, so to be grouped together with all other import owners as being hoons pisses me off. I have a show quality car that im scared to take out anymore and it infuriates me!

Hey guys, i have a genuine autech RS260 that i havent had a chance to get dynoed yet, so far i have fitted a set of high flow manifolds and dump pipes and the rest of the system to go with it which has made the boost jump from 7 to 14psi with out touching anything else, i was wondering if anyone knows what sort of power these put out? I have an R32 with 220rwkw and the 260 puts you back in your seat alot harder than even that does? Any ideas?
-
I havent had my 260 dynoed yet but am hoping to get the chance soon as ive already upgraded the clutch and have fitted high flow manifolds, dump pipes and the rest of the system to go with it, so without touching anything else the boost has jumped from 7 to 14psi and has given a noticable increase. Next on the list is turbo upgrades, not sure which way to go yet as the car is my daily driver, but ive been told that a set of N1 turbos that will bolt straight on have the ability to push the power to 300 at the wheels, so thats something im looking into, as a daily i dont think id want any more than that. My 32 has 220rwkw and thats enough of a handful to drive everyday, so i think 300 at all 4 should prove fun enough! If i feel the need to go stupidly fast ill jump on the Suzuki GSXR1000 i just bought, im still running it in and cant take it over 7k revs, but for now im not worried bout going over that cos its fast enough upto 7k let alone hitting power band! lol!
-
Hey guys, not to brag but you could always go the way i did....Genuine Stagea RS260, all the usefulness of a wagon that cops dont look twice at with all the fun and power of a GTR! Awesome car, one i will never regret buying!
-
Count me in, its been ages since i been on a decent cruise, but now that im single again i can do whatever the f**k i like! :Bang: .....i feel some more modifications coming on....lol. And cheeky....you want the fast kart huh....would you like a head start too just to make it interesting?
-
I think the standard R33 has a T3 set up.. a T28 on a R33 would be quite small, thats off of a n sr20 i think, id suggest calling somewhere like tilbrooks or adelaide turbo services to ask more info.
-
Yes i did buy one, but mine is the slightly bigger one that has head light, tail light and indicators etc. They are illegal to ride on the road as supposedley they dont comply with australian design rules (this i argued as mine only need side mirrors to have the same features as my full size bike) and if you get caught cops can do you for driving an unregistered vehicle, which can mean loss of license for 6 months if they want to be pricks. They also cant be registered as they have no engine numbers. I had a lengthy discussion with a cop i know on the subject after he saw mine. Your not even allowed to ride them in bike lanes with helmets on which is bullshit. Still fun for when there not looking tho;)
-
Are you sure it was advertised for 50k cheeky? If so i might have a look at it for that price.
-
Sorry to hear Erica. Its getting beyond a joke. I agree that owning an import is starting to become less of an enjoyment as i often wont take mine out for fear of being defected, and in my case they would be making one hell of a list so it spends alot more time in the shed than id prefer it too. Its pathetic the amount of bullshit reasons cops can give to defect you for without even knowing what they are talking about. We need to some how get Victorias rules brought over here which would give us all alot more freedom without having to worry about being defected for petty bullshit. I wont be selling mine just to avoid getting defected, but i guess ill have to pick when i take it out and run the risk of getting caught. I think ill be laying low for the next few months til this current spree on imports calms down.
-
Sorry to hear about you and john, erica. I dont think he deserved all you attention anyway...now you can concentrate on the important things in life.....that is to say cruising....which is what we were talking about in the first place....hint hint....lol May 15th is my B'day so i wont mind going for a cruise since i have the day off, so if anything gets organised can someone let me know!

GRIM_R32 replied to CheekyR32's topic in South Australia
Sorry i didnt make it, spent the day learning to ride motor bikes, plus the fact i forgot to set my alarm and woke up at 12.00.....so by the time i wouldve gotten ready there was no hope to make it, or should i say i wasnt prepared to pay the speeding fines i wouldve gotten catching up! lol. Looks like it wouldve been a great day though, ill get my shit sorted next time to make the next one! Might be heading down the drift day, not totally sure yet, only in the show though cos i like my body kit too much to go nuts..lol. Its on my b'day so ill just pretend its a massive party all for me! rofl. -
Opps...late for role call again.....was busy doing burnouts out the back..... May 15th is my birthday so let me know if you orgaise it, ill come as long as theres a hottie jumping out of a cake involved at some point...rofl....seriously tho, im up for a decent run again!
