Plumback = venting excess boosted air through the bov back into the turbo inlet pipe, a stock setup and a ' legal ' setup is plumback. When you are running no bov you get chopping of the compressed air going back over the impella, think of it like this, if you run no bov exhaust gas is trying to push the turbine blade one dirrection, and the boosted air has nowhere to escape but back through the impella pushing its way back through it going the exact opposite direction as the air is supposed to be travelling thus putting stress in the turbo, exhaust gas pushing one way, excess boost pushing the other way, something has to fail unless the access air has somewhere to go when the throttle is closed.

I was under the Impression that a bov was fitted to give the turbo longlivity, to reduce the back pressure over the impella which puts stress on the turbo, not so some old fart could drive in peace, if you where running the stock intake box then you wouldn't hear much sound with or without the stock bov....

Why is it that 99% of the time younger drives get picked on by older drivers? I feel its not allways a car thing, its an " I am older and wiser and i have been driving for blah blah years and i am better ". It's been said to me a few times by other older drivers " Let me behind the wheel and I'll show you kids how to really drive it ". Sure, more time on the road would surely mean that someone is a better driver opposed to someone who hasn't been driving for very long, but unless you're intending to do something stupid there's not a whole lot anyone could do without breaking the law, and when I hear older drays say things like that above it doesnt set a good example for younger drivers... The stupid younger drives will take it as a challenge and think now they have to drive better/faster/whatever than the older drivers. Its not allways a case of what car you're driving, although excessively loud zorsts and bovs (mmm nothing like the sound) do attract alot of attention because they're ' different ' It's comes down to this ' how big your penis is compaired to the next bloke ' There's allways someone going to try and beat you and better you no matter what car you're driving, so be a real man, and let them. mat.

I agree, I love watching it a hell of alot, love seeing it done properly, but hate doing it, my 25$k skyline isn't worth wrecking for drifting. The thing that kills it for me is every retard thinks because you have an import its a drift car. I once got into an argument with somewhen when they told me to wind up the boost of my skyline and do a drift, then I plesantly told him he was a fat ****er and to piss off and skylinea arent meant for drifting, this later got out of control and this dude went to the trouble of stalking me every time he saw me and told me he was going to shoot me with a glock, true story, but luckily everthing was sorted and things are now cool, this person's partner is on this very forum, but i wont name names. What also pisses me off is every idiot thinks that when you get sideways out of a corner its ' drifting '. Most poeple dont know what proper drift is, hell I probly dont but atleast I know you have to be sideways going into the corner rather than going out, any fool can get sideways going out of a corner... I think why its skyrocketed is because it can be and is being done anywhere, wherever there is a corner of a street a drift can be done, and thats why everyone is trying it, Unlike track racing or dragging you dont need a propper venu to do it compaired to drift. I know alot of poeople up here who ' drift ' the streets and thinks its the cool thing to do, some of these people are my friends who are on this very forum and to them I say this, when you **** your car I will do nothing but laugh at you, reality allways wins. The good thing about queensland is you dont have to display your P plate on your car at all. I think whats happens with imports is most people simply dont like them... they're mostly the people who cant/dont have them or your typical holden/ford/whatever driver who thinks they're car is better than your ricey shitty import. The trouble with you being so young in a performance car is people dont think you can handle the car and just buy it for its power so you can be stupid in it. I think you'll find that the people who will respect you are other import owners or pople who know have an interest in cars... Unfortunatly there's allways going to be some wankers that spoil it for people like yourself, and because you have a turbo/performance car you instanly are a young hoon...

NOS = Holley. Holley created the brand name ' NOS ' and has been using nos is applications since the mid 70's...

You dont need forged everything with a NOS setup, you can run a low hp shot 50 ~ 75 without harming your motor as long as its not on the edge of its peformance limit with stock internals. Most people hook nos up to give them the added power to thier stockish motor so you dont have to spend thousands to make it that powerfull 24/7.

Sure you could build a faster / better R33 for half the price, but it will never be a genuine 400R, and some people are looking for that.... Just another point of view

February 1996, the so far most potent Skyline version saw the light of day in a very limited number of only 99 pieces. The NISMO 400R was intended as a road-going version of Nissan's GT-Skylines, to celebrate the race-track-success of the NISMO GT-R LM. Different to this, the NISMO 400R does not have rear-wheel drive, but builds up on a very improved chassis of the most sporty and powerful R33 version, the R33 GT-R V-Spec. tuned version of the RB26DETT, the RBX-GT2 engine powers the NISMO 400R forward with 400hp at 6800rpm. A larger stroke of 77.7mm and bore of 87mm make for a larger displacement of 2771cc. Additionally, special pistons and con-rods, a new crankshaft and a strengthened engine-block, in connection with a NISMO intercooler are responsible for the increase in power and also boost torque to a maximum of 478Nm (346 lb-ft) at 4400rpm. The power is still delivered to all wheels via the 5-speed gearbox, although a twin-plate clutch now handles the connection between axle and transmission. Further improvements over the V-Spec include a 30mm lower suspension (in comparison to the already quite low V-Spec) with Bilstein gas shocks and 18-inch wheels with 275/35 tires. In correspondence with ATTESA-ETS and Super-HICAS these changes make for a race-car-like handling that hardly any other car is likely to match. But updated dynamics are not the only differences between the R33 and the NISMO 400R. The outward appearance of the latter already hints at the potential under hood. The front-spoiler has even bigger scoops than before, and gives the 400R an almost threatening stance on the street. The 18-inch wheels fill the wheel-housings much better than the V-Spec's 17-inch ones and the rear-wing produces even more grip than the standard one. On the passive side, NISMO brakes make sure all that forward-power is also decelerated effectively when necessary and race-style seats with harnesses keep the driver in place even during the most courageous maneuvers. Considering the racing-heritage of this car and its huge dynamic potential, the NISMO 400R is THE race-car for the street and definitely the best Skyline available so far. Nissan had been racing the Skyline in the GT1 category of the 24-hours endurance race of Le Mans in 1995 and 1996, so the GT-R LM and the 400R were intended as road-going versions of these race cars. Both got derivatives of the RB26DETT engine, the GT-R LM with 305hp and the 400R with 400hp. Unfortunately only one GT-R LM was built to homologate the car for racing, which is confined to a museum today. The 400R on the other hand, got an enlarged RB26DETT engine with 2.8l of displacement, the RBX-GT2, a twin-turbo with an astonishing 400hp at 6.800rpm. The engine was not the only similarity with the GT-R though, since both cars were based upon the R33 GT-R V-spec (Victory Specification). But where the GT-R LM only got RWD (like the race-cars), the 400R got further improved GT-R technology, like ATTESA-ETS etc. Naturally, both car’s inner potency was resembled in their design as well. Each one of them featured bigger wheels, wider spoilers and wheel-arches and lower suspension, to give them a look even more dramatic than the already not too inconspicuous standard GT-R.
