  1. wow - i new there was a lot and it aint easy but i think its more then i even thought. i guess thats a top price for that many hours work.. in his quote the head was - HEAD - - acid wased/ cleaned - port and polished -$660 Service head -$350 Tappet - $220 Weld oil gallery - $150 then total assembly was about 2700 - thats the best price apart from the other one wich i think something was majorly missing
  2. yeah my mate thinks he can put it togeather lol (not happening) think i might skip the low quote - clearly i want it done right - just dont wanna be ripped off - i am saving abit of time and money by stripping the head and block to pieces.
  3. fair enough... - thought assembling pistons rods cranck and the head was little over priced - will keep looking - least i no 50 grand assembled is a good ball park
  4. yeah the assembly charge was as much as all the other work..... yet another shop was 2550 including assembley - $5000 grand is becomming more common - might dig a little deeper on this one ($2550) - get it all in an email or quote
  5. got a reply - approx $5000
  6. yeah thanks dosnt hurt to ask tho cheers -
  7. still waiting for them - been a week lol - i am in sydney in a fortnight if no reply ill go see em
  8. just gonna put this out there - i have asked for a few quotes from JHH racing in qld and some recommended shops in sydney and melbourn - so far i have had a reply from - shop in melbourn - $5500 this quote had a lot of extra little things detailed in the quote which i was unsure about i also received one back from a shop in sydney for $2500 ( i have had good feed back from this shop from jap cars to 9 sec drag cars and burn out car - but this seems very cheap? - should i be looking into this more? i am waiting on more quotes i just think this is a bit low - below is what i have sent to a few shops. I am looking at having- Block - - acid washed/ cleaned - bored/ honed out for 86.5mm pistons - top flat and level - crank balanced HEAD - - acid wased/ cleaned - port and polished Pully to be re drilled and moved on the block and the VCT feed set up - and engine put back together (ie pistons rods and head all bolted up) i will be doing all external bolt ons i will be supplying all parts -
  9. how did the dyno day go? miss anything good? stuck at work so couldnt attend.. hopefully next time
  10. long shot - interested in a flush fit boot for R33 gtst (so its even with sides once rear spoiler is removed) just incase this only makes sense to me the below link takes you to some pics ( you can get em in fiber glas and normal) http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117564

  13. thanks guys - i will gonna spend some time sourcing one out around sydney i think.. might look into melbourn and qld pending on shipping.. as everyone else i am after quality work and happy to pay for good work - just wasnt sure what i would be looking at.. thanks guys - if anyone recommend anyone in sydney that would be appreciated
  14. OK LOL i think i might shop around sydney - as canberra dosnt seem to have anyone and the one i did get a quote from was $7,000+ when i mean anyone - i mean anyone that dose quality work not just basic engine stuff, and the shop i went to was "performance engines"
  15. the head and bottem will be bare - i am giving them the pistons so its bored out correctly and they are porting and polishing the head - making surfaces both flat - acid washing, re drilling/ locating the pully and vct feed - then we are putting the head and block togeather what more detail do you need?
  16. coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
  17. cool thanks that least gives me a ball park to work off - i am in sydney 18th - 21 july so might go see a few shops while up there
  18. im not fused on the price in a sense i am more working out what is the price range so if someone quotes me $2000 for the head to be done then i no its a Good or average price. so $2000 gives me a good starting point
  19. i have looked at hime seems like alot for stock internals
  20. yeah well i wasnt sure till last night i met someone had done the same sort of work to a rb25det he paid 3700, including pistons, so thought that was a massive difference - anyone know or recommend someone in canberra or sydney area for this work -
  21. i am in canberra as far as i know there is only about 3 places in canberra/ queanbeyan that doo this work - i am happy to travel to sydney
  22. THE QUOTE - rb30 block acid washed/diped clean - bored out for forged pistons - head to be ported and polished - assembley - move VCT oil feed - and re tap and move the pully.. i am supplying all the parts and then once motor is down we are assembling.
  23. morning everyone, i have started the process for my RB30/25 set up, and i am currently looking for someone to do the block and head, ie, acid wash bore, port , polish, and tap new VCT ect - so just to do that i have so far been quoted between 6 - 7 grand... dose this seem right.. im only questioning this as i met someone last night had all the same work done but on a rb25det for 3 grand. (this dose not include essembling the motor) this is my first build so i am unnsure what is a reasonable price for this type of job.. i am from canberra but i am willing to take my parts to sydney. if anyone could pass on there opinion what a rough price is for this work, and or if they can recommend a shop in sydney - canberra area. thanks
