I had the same problem with mine too - check the hose that comes out of the back of the plenum, you'll probably find a small split in it- if it is that turn the engine on and open up the hood and you'll hear the air escaping from it
-
cool. yeah I certainly hope theres no problem with the engine!! it seems to run ok I would have thought if there was a pressure problem there the engine wouldnt run as well as it should.. do you think its possible that the oil pump could have a problem?? sometimes I have to give it a bit of a thrashing to get it to come back to normal again
-
when it has dropped also the car hasnt been thrashed, I can get in it to go to work and this happens in peak hour traffic
-
Hey guys I dont know if this would pose a problem or not but lately Ive noticed that the oil pressure guage in the car doesnt read right?? either that or theres a bigger problem: most of the time it will sit comfortably at 2 bar on idle - but occasionally it will drop down to 1 bar on idle (it was less than this the other day!)? when driving it sits lower also but the car runs fine, then I can turn it off and back on or keep driving and it seems to correct itself... I checked the oil and its probably slightly overfilled if anything, oil temp doesnt increase, and it doesnt seem to be eating it - any ideas?

I think probably anywhere between 145 - 160rwkw, maybe depending on oil, whether the car has been thrashed etc..

hey! :chairshot there will no kaboom! at least until I can afford new parts

Hey!!!! I think Ive fixed all the problems I had!! - Adam you were right it was definitely the tune I sat down and read the whole manual for the first time, I wish I did before! :chairshot It turns out there was some settings that I should have had adjusted but didnt know: 1. The N/E Point for the RPM was monitoring from 3000 - 6500 RPM, and the car winds out to about 6600-6700 before the gear change - so after 6500 it wasnt monitoring the boost anymore! thats why it was going crazy... I set it to monitor 3500 - 7000 and it doesnt spike anymore 2. The Feedback speed I suspect wasnt set fast enough.. it was on 3 - I set it to 5 and I already instead of spiking to 1.28 bar it wont go over .90 - i dont know if the speed being too fast can cause any damage so i dont want to turn it up too much Plus the car wasnt hitting .90 very quickly - it would only start to hit that boost at very high RPM - in the manual it also told me that 4 Speed A/T cars need to have the gear setting for 5th set to 1... I put that down and now the car hits .90 alot earlier and stays there - no spiking at all! very happy now! :uh-huh: :uh-huh: :uh-huh:

Is your car auto?? Ive got an auto and I get the same problem, in 2nd and 3rd gear I was told its either the ecu which may have some putting some flat spots on higher boost and also the auto box's clutch packs or something are gripping and slowing it a little??

hehe poor mintie you do look like a midget there!!!!
-
Cool - well hopefully I can get out there for the drag day! I havent run my car in a while
-
thanks! Yeah i dont know what it is - Im thinking of turning off the learn mode and running for a while without it.. Does it still boost and hold fine on yours? any bad spiking from it?
-

One other thing I noticed which may or may not make a difference is that one of the hoses (i think still connected - the one that bleeds off air) has a doughnut shaped piece of metal inside the hose that looks like its supposed to restrict the flow of air or something? The hole in it is very small, alot smaller than the width of the hose - have you got the same thing?

thomas! you're supposed to defend the both of us now?!?!?!? btw hows the steel underwear? comfortable? hehe

OK I got some pics of the setup of the valve and sensor:
-
haha i thought that might be the case.. Yeah any bike helmet would be good enough
-
no problem! Id just appeal to your curiosity, wait till you get close then..........bam! hehe
-
Ill have to see how I go - Ive got a helmet you can use otherwise thomas! just have to see if it fits right
-
yeah I love both your asses.... good for kickin!!!!! hehe
-
haha mod all you like mona!!! (man im going down.......calling all 34s! need assistance!!! hehe)
-
hmm.....maybe i might have to then!! I just have to see how I go - I have to go into hospital to have the rods removed from my legs at the start of June (from a previous car accident) haha so Ill have to see how my legs heal up!! Otherwise Ill at least try to get there as a spectator as for the solenoid Ive got it nice and close to the actuator - theres about 15cm (?) of hose between them - trying to get a really good response out of it! Im not sure if the hose length matters for the other 2 attached to it? and the pressure sensor was attached to the fuel reg hose by t-piece and ran to the firewall on the passenger side, but I moved this last night so now its attached to the fuse box, I havent has a good chance to test it though yet.. Ill see if I can post up some pics of it tonight
-
we'll have to see about that!!! hehe
-
?? well now when I run it at .9 it doesnt go over .92 at any point except for sometimes in peak at 2nd gear - I dont know whats causing that though The learning mode will kick in after all the settings are inputted - once the duty is adjusted to what it should be for the boost AND you drive under high load (3rd or 4th gear) with 85% throttle or more and it holds the boost it will kick into learning mode- thats when you get the ***'s - the graph you see after that is the adjustments the avcr will make to the duty to keep the boost at the level you want
-
Hey Adam! yeah Im trying to run .5 for daily driving to put the turbo under a bit less stress - I was wondering whether it might have been because Im running the boost under stock levels? As far as the spiking issue goes then Im lucky!! on .9 at the very peak rpm of second gear the boost on mine hits 1.1-1.2 bar!!! just for a split second though it seems how do you run it without the learning mode?
