Rb25Det Vacuum Leak? Idling Low, Rev Hunting
Mattgr replied to Mattgr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No, i gasket good the iacv trying to fix the problem and it hasent changed -
So recently ive fitted a new front facing manifold on my rb25 and since then my car has been idling very low, ive adjusted the throttle to idle at 1k revs but i started it this morning and it stalled straight away, its very jumpy when im sitting still, ive checked the vacuum hoses coming off the manifold and the only one that seems to not affect the engine when i squeeze it is the hose connected to the fuel pressure regulator, im not sure if this is normal or not. Also i reset the ecu after fitting the manifold and that seemed to fix it a little bit. Ive gasket goo'd the IAC valve and the throttle body to the manifold. So the obvious questions are. Does this sound like a vacuum leak? and how do i fix it?

So i bought a front facing plenum which i was hoping to fit this weekend and i have all the parts, but i just realised the throttle cable is too short by about 50mm. Does anyone know in the perth area where i can get a throttle cable (preferably south the river)

Now we're getting somewhere. Thanks for the input Looks like i shall research alot more before i make any rash decisions then.

Here, ill help.

I think ill go with the power fc to be honest, it has a MAP sensor so i dont need an afm. Definately want to go internal wastegate but ill do some more research already have 3" exhaust, intercooler and i have added 840cc injectors to my list and a 040 bosch pump, ill do some research about a clutch, any recommendations? Cheers.

Actually i was told that the stock turbo in my car was a piece of shit and that i should throw it out and get a new one by multiple people. Thus why the thread started, i came here for advice. So if you dont have any useful advice other than your amazing sarcasm, simply click the 'next thread' button. Thanks.

So PFC is an ECU, sorry i thought it was a boost controller. so confused.. E80 afm 3-3.5" exhaust unknown brand coilovers. Atmosphere BOV Im heading off to work now so i wont be able to reply for a few hours.
-
So the haltech HT055001 isnt compatible with PFC and boost control? If so, which one should i be going for that is? Also, i have an apexi actuator valve controller in my glove-box, not sure if that's the same thing. What's a flex fuel setup? Some Kuhmo tyres which were $215 each, not sure which model The guy i bought my car off had less knowledge than i do about it, he told me the old owner put in a heavy duty clutch, but i have my doubts, it doesnt feel like a heavy duty one to me.
-
Boost control, power fc? i dont know what a wastegate is, ill do some research on that one. 3037 because ive heard good things about it, can you suggest anything better in the same price range? running 98 Why would i have to rebuild my engine? Which parts? ive upgraded suspension, brakes, clutch and tyres already. Dont know what a pivot is either.
-
Yeah ive looked through many threads, which is how i came to the conclusion of getting a 3037. I dont know which mods i need to make it work, so far this is what ive come to, HT055001 ECU, 840cc injectors and a 040 bosch fuel pump. Am i able to upgrade to this turbo before i upgrade my ecu or should i do them all at the same time (will probably be a few months apart as i try to make up the money to buy these mods)
-
Hi guys, i will be getting a new Turbo to replace the stock one in my rb25, i have been looking at a GT3037, anyone have one/ used one, Whats your opinion + Suggestions for other turbos are more than welcome. Cheers
-
I was just going off what someone else has told me, thanks for clearing that up.
-
Apparently
-
Yes, i was thinking about upgrading the stock turbo, however if i run 18psi ill have to upgrade my valves, any idea how much new valves cost + turbo? I have been told anymore than 14psi will destroy my valves
-
Already got one of those mate
-
Thanks for the advice guys, will ponder the thoughts and decide what i want to do. Cheers
-
Ok, ive done a bit of research and have a few questions. 1. How much difference performance-wise is there between stock injectors, 850cc injectors and 1000cc injectors. 2. if i was to upgrade my injectors would my valves also need upgrading, due to them working harder. 3. What is the difference between stock afm and the z32, i see that there is no point getting a z32 unless i also upgrade my ecu. So i am wondering, for the effort and money required for the upgrade will it actually be worth it? Cheers.
-
Thanks mate, very helpful
-
front mount cooler = intercooler? what benefit are higher cc injectors? where is the ecu + what exactly does it do? z32 afm? Sorry, i dont really know much mate. Cheers.
-
I actually read this thread earlier, the only thing is i have no idea what half of the mods mean, like i said i'm not very knowledgable, so if someone could tell me the basic mods and their uses or somewhere i could learn this info, would be great, Cheers.
-
Hi, i am fairly new to cars, not very knowledgable. I bought a 1998 R33 gts-t about 3 weeks ago, and am wondering what mods i can add to it to increase performance and looks. I already have a rear strut brace (no front), adjustable coilovers, pod air filter, BOV, stock intercooler, Apexi actuator valve controller (which i've got no idea how to use, so i left it alone) stock turbo and 3 inch exhaust. I don't really know much about my car, however id definately like to learn alot more and add some mods to it. It's done 173,000km's, recently new tyres and wheel alignment. Cheers, Matt.
