April Group Buy Special - Qfm Performance Brake Pads Half Price!
gslrallysport replied to gslrallysport's topic in Group Buys
Hi mate, I'm pretty sure all the turbo cars have the same brakes if they're not the Brembo's. Have a look, your front pads should be DB1170: http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue/images/...Inner_Outer.gif and the rears should be DB1220: http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue/images/...Inner_Outer.gif If not, we can get them, there'll just be wait for manufacture, but should be those. Regards, Greg -
You will have read about them in the users guide, but the QFM A1RM is easily better than either EBC Green Stuff or DS2500s in terms of performance, and on par with then for dust/wear etc. The Brembo A1RMs are $149 front or rear. Also the A1RM will work from cold, whereas alot of pads at this level don't. We run them in the front of the rally car, and even as our daily delivery vehicle when the other car is out is fine. A1RM specs are: Cold Co-ef 0.40 Hot Co-ef 0.48 Temp Range 0-780 Even if you only got them for the rears they still should save you a few bucks over the Project Mu etc.

April Group Buy Special - Qfm Performance Brake Pads Half Price!

Easiest way is just to PM me your details, name, delivery address (preferably business) and email and I can fire you through an invoice with direct deposit details etc. or else I can also do credit card over the phone. The Lucas are a very good pad and what we run in the rally car until last year, before moving up to the A1RM. The A1RM are definately a better pad as they're a dedicated performance pad, whereas the Lucas is just a very high volume selling pad designed for European cars that have high brake standards. But that said sometimes it comes down to dollars, and the Lucas are probably slightly cheaper for your particular car. -

Depends which one, they're a franchise. ABS I've found are OK on prices, when we've been out of stock of something and a customer needed it urgently I've run down to ABS to get it and then just pass it on at cost. We're on just about the best trade price ABS will offer, but most of the time their prices don't worry ours. Lucas (now called TRW) can be bought from any parts outlet that has an account with ATAP. -

The HPX pads are ideal for high performance street cars looking for higher working temperatures with reduced fade, and also for Four Wheel Drives or vehicles looking to enhance their towing capacity or safety. The HPX pads unlike many pads in this performance range are virtually dust free, whilst maintaining low rotor wear. QFM's second high performance street pad is the A1RM compound and provides QFM with its club sport track pad. It is ideal for high performance street cars that take to the track to test the limits, whilst still being a streetable pad. The A1RM is ideal for club level rally and hill climb where brakes are required right from the first corner! The A1RM? Should be rated to 780... Yep, tis good stuff that Lucas Grand Prix 600! -
Depends if he's got the Nissan or Brembo Brakes. If its the Brembo's, then they're $145 a set, and won't be available through the Group Buy as they're exclusive to GSL RallySport... Also $110-$120 is pretty standard for the A1RM, I really don't know why that's a group buy thread as their isn't any discount for quantities and its not being done like a group buy.
-
Yep, they would be the go! They're VERY similar to Race Brakes RB74, they're still useable on the street, whilst good for 780 degrees, which is more than enough for most track days. And cheap at $110 per set. Depends on how much you want to spend and how serious you want to be. Regularly changed Dot 4 fluid should be fine, or else this is what we use and recommends for high performance applications: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/gsl-ra...rake-fluid.html

Something that's still reasonable performance though? QFM's HPX pads are very good on dust, whilst still being the same performance as something like a Bendix Ultimate. $75 per set front or rear... Or else just normal QFM's which also are VERY good on dust are $35 per set, but they are just a normal street pad, 450 degrees, nothing high performance. -

Lucas for the Brembo'd skylines is $120 and $65 front/rear. Freight to Perth is fine. $12 on Couriers please. Regards, Greg -

Have a quick read here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Br...0&start=100 TRW Lucas pads, goof for 650 degrees, better than DS2000 or about the same as DS2500... Also 100 degrees better than Bendix Ultimate for example. A better all round street pad whilst still maintaining high performance, and Lucas is what comes OEM in most high performance European cars... $60 for the fronts, $50 for the rears... -

You haven't got the upgraded Brembo calipers have you? -

gslrallysport replied to JustinP's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Why do you want Frerodo DS2000's??? $150 is pretty steep, for an average pad. There's lots better pads out there for less than that, but it depends on what you want from your cars as to which pads to use... -
Roll Cages And Cams Approved?
gslrallysport replied to evil_weevil's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Chrome molly cages are a joke. Stupidly stiff brittle cages that don't give any flex whatsoever in the event of a crash, and due to the self-hardening properties of CM, will crack by themselves over time... CD Steel will stay joined together under a high load for a lot longer than CM. Drag cars aren't allowed to paint their tubes as the welds need to inspected every 5 mins of race time for cracks... If you value your life, don't get a CM cage. After about 2 years they start to become weak, and very easily broken in the event of an accident. The death at Bathurst a year or two ago up the top, failed CM cage, the heart piercing bar that let go in the ex-rospen WRX at Jimna couple of years ago, failed CM cage... Chris Atkinson at Rally Japan last year where the cage just fell apart... FAILED CM CAGE! There's a reason why the FIA has just banned Chrome Molly Cages in rally cars, its downright dangerous... To properly weld Chrome Molly is a very long and drawn out process, and very few can do it properly... and even when done properly it still only has a maximum useable life of 3-5 years maximum... Thanks for the plug! Appreciate it! -

GSL RallySport, among others! I've always got plenty of the Skyline and 200SX Lucas on the shelf. Most places that stock Lucas are a trade only (or retail for a stupid price) and don't tend to keep in stock Skyline pads anyway. A few places can get them (not your supercheaps or repco's etc.) but more of your specific trade outlets. They're imported by ATAP, who are very trade only... Na, Lucas pads are all the same. DB1170 and DB1220 provided you don't have the Brembo calipers... -

Yep, [without actually seeing one] all the listing we found when looking for ya had an outer ball joint, seperate, and an inner ball joint (similar to some BMW's) that was pressed into an arm... -

If dust isn't a concern, then Lucas will do that job. 650 degrees, in other words about 100 degrees better than Bendix Ultimate or about the same as Ferodo DS2500, whilst still being very much a street pad, ie. low rotor wear, cold performance etc. Lucas is what I use in my (albiet light) rally car. Also they're a very sacrificial pad, which means that they don't chew through rotors, and being such a cheap pad, are ideal for a car that gets regular (but light) track work. For an S15, $60 for the fronts, $50 for the rears. Also, make sure that you've got the best fluid available, as that's always the first weak link in any braking system. Cheers, Greg -
What Brake Pads To Get, Front Only.
gslrallysport replied to WogsRus's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Depends on the car, you hear about Ultimates ranging from a little bit of dust, to alot, whereas with the lucas, its consistently in the middle somewhere... -

What Brake Pads To Get, Front Only.
gslrallysport replied to WogsRus's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Nothing that springs to mind without the usual rubbish... Plenty use Bendix Ultimate and are happy with them, but for the dollars there's plenty of much better pads out there. You may be able to track down a set of Lucas Pads today, try ABS stores, and some of the larger parts places that aren't a supercheap/repco/autobarn...
