  1. Who knows whether those pre R35 cars drive anywhere near as well as they did when they were new. The grey import industry isn't exactly well known for pristine condition vehicles. The R33 was running on dodgy chinese made tyres versus the bespoke tyres on the R35. There is probably 2 seconds per lap in those tyres alone. I think they were particularly harsh given the age of the vehicles. I was particularly dissappointed by the article however was pleased to hear how good the R35 is.
  2. The point of the evo article was to race the best accelerating car (Corvette) in a straight line, the best road car (the Audi R8) on the road and the most track based weapon (the GT3) on the track to see how the GTR stacks up against the best of everything. It did a damn good job. When I say the "best" I mean Evo's version of the best when you exclude straight out super cars. I was actually most surprised to hear that it was faster than the Audi on bumpy Welsh roads and that the driver of the GTR needed to feather the throttle on the straight to allow the Audi to keep up, so that he could see how hard the driver was pushing to keep up. It will be interesting to see how fast the v-spec is. Just imagine if it lost even 200kg's and gained 50 horses. Nissan have done an outstanding job, as the article says it is the new benchmark. Cheers
  3. Hi, Here's a link to the R35 GT-R in testing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBifjuV_WUA&feature=user Nissan have indicated that they are taking this very serious as the GT-R's racing heritage is so important. I know very little about the series though I thought the race car had very little in common with the road car, same as the v8 supercars in Aust. Therefore it's simply a case of the biggest wallet wins, provided they can buy the right talent? Therefore the race car this year will only have progressed in a similar sort of fashion to that it would have done anyway whether it is a R35 GT-R shell or not. Am I right in my thinking? Thanks
  4. I thought the Evo WRX series was an Australian only reference. Re GTR models I have read that they intend on releasing 3 different versions. I'm no help obviously. Edit: Now that I think about it the article talking about the 3 versions referred to an Evo. not sure that anybody outside of Nissan really knows anything. I suspect it's all speculation.
  5. i didn't post the quoted times because I didn't think they were that impressive given the power output. anyway the article says 2.5 secs to 100kmh and a 10 sec flat quarter. does anyone know the quarter mile time for the veyron?
  6. The R35 and veyron were many a year in the making. I hope this one goes ahead. Assuming structural integrity and quality engineering and build, I would have thought $400,000 US to be a bargain. Does anyone know whether the Joss (spelling?) is making it to production, haven't heard anything for a while.
  7. while at a party, do you ever wonder why no one wants to talk to you?
  8. Specs came from evo magazine issue 113
  9. Reading the latest version of evo I thought to myself Vector rings a bell. Anyway here are the specs; - 10 litre twin-supercharged v8 - 1850 hp = 1425 kw - 1700 lb ft = 2305 nm - Est top speed inxs of 440kmh - Cost, a mere US$400,000 Looks ok, definitely tough. imagine sitting at the lights next to....anything really. i want one. anyway i just thought I would show this as it is leaps and bounds above everything else i have seen. www.vectormotors.com
  10. Hmmmm I'm really looking forward to seeing the v spec, mostly just to satisfy my curiosity given the many reports I have read. One or two reports have stated that the vspec will be no more powerful. In my opinion they need to increase the power or reduce weight big time. from what I have seen the gtr can only just keep with the 911 turbo in a straight line and therefore it making gains everywhere else. increasing power will just top it off. i'm sure power could be increased relatively easily by using a similar approach as porsche has taken with the 911 turbo's turbos. the gtr's turbos are relatively simple and cheap by comparison. but what would i know really. another report indicated that they may have driven the v spec when everyone else was testing the normal gtr. the reason for this relates to the fact that they were taken to a different area to all other journos. the car had a roll cage in it. the journo stated that it didn't feel any faster in a straight line. they indicated that it was much looser and the engineers were very interested in hearing their view on the drive.
  11. I would have thought TRD would be involved from the outset!?!?!?!?
  12. I would be so proud to be the owner of one of those. The look the sound the performance, wow.
  13. Oh yeah and this topic is so 2007. (I just wanted to sound like a wanker).
  14. From what I have recently read, Lexus/Toyota are struggling to get the 0-100km/h time under 4 secs. This is causing them delays however is extremely important to acheive when creating a supercar. This really interested me given that it has supposedly done the ring in under 7.30, the handling, balance and braking must be phenominal.
