  1. I have it on my car. It is all stock apart from exhaust. When they were tuning it they said that the boost was spiking and the computer momentarily cut power. They didn't suggest a fix. Does anyone have this on their GTR or is just GTST's?

    I think it looks great. Plus most cars look better in the flesh IMO. It certainly is different from the R34 et al though it had to be in order to move with the times. I think it is original and very nissan (in a good way).
  3. I take your point. Of the cars in my price range I would be buying probably number 3 or 4 of my top 10 so I would still be quite happy. It's partly about what people think but also my preference as well. In my circumstances I have clients with $50 million plus so a car that those people will either respect or be neutral to will be helpful. It sounds like a bit of a wank but my preference is to go well in my job than have a car with super, braking, acceleration or cornering etc. Also, I think the V35 Skyline Coupe is a good compromise and probably would put a smile on my face. The C200 Merc would be a comfortable cruiser. I like your idea of a 68 Monary with a 427. Just amazing engines. 7 litres of power. How much power would you be looking at?
  4. Mmmmm z4 coupe. Never seen one though have driven a z4 litre convertible. great car. can't and don't think I could justify the money. At the most I was going to spend $50 large so the Merc c200 was going to be second hand. Is the 35 skyline coupe a V35 or Q35. I personally rate them very highly. I saw a lot when in Canada and think the look great, alot better in the flesh than in photos. Do you think they will soon get the same reputation as the rest of the Skyline range?

  6. Hey all, Just wondering what everyone plans on buying next. I now have a R33 GTS25T. I have loved owning it and may own it for a little while to come. I am thinking ahead to my next purchase. Now that I am 27 and have a job where I need to mix with extremely wealthy people I'm not sure I can continue to hold own an import. Mainly because of the poor image it has. I'm not saying the common view is right, it just will work against me. If image didn't come into it then I would like a heavily modified R33 GTR that looks almost stock. I am thinking second hand C200. Maybe a 2003 model. A little luxury, high quality. Not too many thrills though. My other thought is to buy a Q35 Skyline Coupe. At the moment there aren't to many and most people don't associate them with the import scene. On this note do you think alot more will come in soon and the price come down? I'm not trying to sound like a snob or offend anyone it's just a reality for me to succeed. What does everyone else plan on buying for their next car? Another skyline or a bigger car because you now have a family or.............? Cheers

  8. Just a question. Say you have a pretty much stock 33 (cat back exhaust only). If you were to upgrade the turbo (without going too big) and increase boost, would you gain much power. The reason for asking is that the R33 turbo can only handle a moderate level of boost so would a new turbo be one of the first items to buy. From what I can see they are quite cheap for a minor turbo upgrade (around $1k fitted). How would this compare to say keepting the standard turbo and adding a FMIC instead. What are your thoughts and experiences. Cheers
  9. you look at that site and can find all sorts of cars beating machinery you wouldn't expect. ferrari's and lambo's get beaten by some cheap cars with big mods. there's even a turbo'd viper (could be twin turbo) that beats a turbo suzuki hayabusa (spelling?) where the rider of the bike admits to getting beaten. I found that hard to believe though apprently they were both trying. it you want acceleration by a cheap car. Add a big big engine and add forced induction. Oh and take out the unwanted weight. it's a simple formula.

Some civics sure are fast. there is quite a fwd culture in some countries where they are posting some good times. with a decent suspension setup they can corner well too. with enough money you can get a hyundai excel to accelerate faster than a badly tuned gtr. it's all about power to weight not the badge on the car.
  11. I would have thought both the R33 GTS25T and R34 GTT could keep up with a Integra Type R on track. I understand that the Type R's are one of the best FWD's going around. I would have thought they would lose out on the straights and make it up through the corners. Does anyone have actual experience with these two cars on the track.
  12. Just wondering why so many manufacturers make FWD sports cars. I assume they know what they are doing. My thoughts on it are: 1) They consider FWD's to be safer, esp when they are short wheelbase cars; 2) There aren't enough buyers to make it worthwhile on all cars. My thoughts on this are that there would be a whole new market if they made them in RWD and those that don't care will continue to buy anyway. Specifically I am thinking about the following cars: 1) Renault Clio Sport. Obviously a good car already though could be better I assume with RWD. Same goes for the Megane Sport or whatever it's called; 2) Celica. Not my cup of tea though maybe of interest if it were RWD. 3) Any "hot hatch" you can name. By changing to RWD you get rid of torque steer, understeer and adds what I believe to be a better driving experience. I could be wrong, but I think the Mitsu 380, Toyota Sportivo Camry and Maxima would be a lot more popular if they were RWD. I honestly think this is one of the reasons why Holdend Commodores and Ford Falcons are so popular in Aust. Maybe I'm in a small minority here. Maybe my focus is on Aust's preference and not factoring the possibility that other countries make up the majority of the market and don't care.. What do you think?

  14. Hi, I have an R33. The battery is completely flat. It does this if I haven't driven for around 3 weeks. Normally I jump start it though this time I can't move the car to a place where the leads reach another car. I have bought a battery charger. It says I need to take the battery out of the car. So far I am having a lot of difficulty in getting the battery out of the boot. My questions: 1) Can I jump start the car from the battery or does it have to go through the points in the engine bay? 2) If I can't jump start from the boot and I have to get the battery out, are there any tricks associated with getting the battery out? Thanks
  15. Good stuff Fender. nice choice. A great combination IMO of style and sportiness. Can you explain how it drove better than the 350z. not doubting you, just interested as from everything I read the 350z is a great ride. also, how much are they going for these days - ball park figure will do.

  17. in all ohenesty, I think that most family cars will beat most stock gtst's off the line, unless the gtst driver gets a great launch. the ease of launch combined with the additional torque can make the standard commodore or falcon difficult to beat. i'm not saying they are better cars, just difficult to beat off the line.

I was only thinking this morning that I haven't heard any XR6t's being pushed. i would like to because they apparently sound great. i hear more silvia's being thrashed than new falcon or commodores. I probably drive my skyline and charade harder than most people drive their fords and holdens, not that I am reckless or break the law, just accelerating, breaking and cornering.
  19. I would love to buy one. They look excellent in the flesh, the pictures certainly don't do them justice. A great combination of sport and luxury. My only reservation at this point is that they will eventually turn into the rest of the import market. I'm not having a go at the import market, it's just that I can't own a car (in my line of work) where there is so much bad press and attitudes towards the cars. Also, I don't want a car where after 2 years the market is selling terrible examples at really low prices, as was the case after I bought my R33. I'm not trying to sound like a snob, it's just the way it is for me.

  21. If they can add all those gadgets and keep it at around 1500kg's then I say go for it. If I was forking out $150k I would want way more than the basics. Does anyone know what weight they are aiming for with the new GTR (or are they keeping that a secret too). Over and out Smurf
  22. I think the lump sum was pretty hefty, don't think he spent all of it on the car. The company involved told they guy they wouldn't do it because he will kill himself with such a beast. They guy responded by saying he would take his business elsewhere so they agreed to do it.
  23. I lived in Newcastle and when I bought a front bar for my car, the owner of the place showed me a project they were working on. Basically it was a guy who brought in a clubsport and commodore stationwagon. I think they were VX or somewthing like that. They owner of the cars was a paraplegic and had a lump sum payout. He imported a 7.2 litre Chevy engine to put in the Clubbie. The engine was almost the same as the one used in the Nations Cup Monaro, the only difference beeing it was bigger. The engine alone cost $119k apparently. He wasn't happy with the power so he wanted to add two massive turbos. An engineering firm said that they couldn't strengthen the the car to handle that sort of torque. They guy settled for supercharging. All up the car and changes were supposed to hit $300k. He had some massive AP racing brakes already on the car (cost $20k). The new gearbox had it's own digital screeen. I think they planned on getting around 1000hp at the wheels and who knows how much torque. In addition he decided to put all the lefto over clubbie bits in the station wagon. He planned on supercharging the 5.7l too. Commodores of any kind are certainly not my cup of tea. Imagine spending that sort of money on a car, a commodore!!!! Would be a wild ride though, good for towing a caravan (isn't that why people buy commonwhores). Given that he couldn't use his legs, I imagine that would make the driving expereience even more interesting. Does anyone know whether he finished the project? Cheers

Assume latest incarnation of each option car. Whate a great predicament (except for the last comparo though a free car is a free car). I would choose F430 Enzo Turbo C6 350z RX7 IX Vehron (tough call, love the Koenigsegg) GTR (silly question) E55 M5 XR8 Cheers
  25. On the side, unless the new M3 is a screamer (which it will have to be to keep up with the new RS4) the new turbo engine is going to be the pick for a lot of the tuners..... and there appear to be alot of them overseas. Could be wrong.
