Hey Guys The time has come! I finally have enough funds to buy what I've always wanted - a GTR. Was going to put in a high flow turbo down the track etc but Ive decided Im going to give my brother the gtst as he gets of his p's soon and Im going to get either a 33 or 34 gtr Question is , which one? I know for a fact a 34 is better but also twice as expensive. I can easily afford a good condition 33gtr now (selling for around $25k) but I was wondering whether I should save up for another 7 months or so and get a 34 instead. I've driven a 33GTR and loved it but have never driven a 34GTR before. Is it worth being twice as much? Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks in advance Cheers PS: Merry xmas!

its my daily so just a tune and remove those sideskirts as theres to much going on. after that im installing a killer sound system , clear indicator side lights and l.e.d tail lights (not altezza) Going to get a tune in feb and then maybe a high flow turbo later in the year after i put in a trans cooler and a shift kit. Looking at creating a car that is cruiser friendly and a balance between sexy and defect free(as much as it can be) The only thing I didnt like about the s2 where those orange indicators , thats why i shaded them and I personally think they look much better. is still as visible as normal when they come on so hopefully not defect worthy. to each their own:)

just head a nightmare relating to my car being smashed from all sides( what a releif when i woke up) but this leads me to another question.with these defects..if i where to meet in an accident...would my insurance cover me or refuse to because of the defects?

tripsteady replied to tripsteady's topic in General Automotive Discussion

falken ziex's...not even once Ive now got ku31's all round. its all good now seriously guys we need to start a petition or something to prevent these tyres from being sold.it is by far the most dangerous tyres to drive on,outright stupidly bad in the wet. who can we contact, its now a safety issue for all those who purchase these... -
Hi Guys I'm looking for a place where I can get my system installed (head unit , 6x9's , amp , sub & splits) Not looking for a top notch install , just want a place that takes pride in their work , will do a basic install and take care of my baby 1997 Nissan Skyline R33 S2 I am in the process of purchasing the following and have quite a limited budget and the below componants seem to fit in my budget. - MB Quart FSB216 6.5" 2-Way Speakers + Crossovers + tweeters - Pioneer 3-way 6x9's - Pioneer 12inch sub woofer already boxed - SONY XM-GTX6041 4 / 3 / 2 Channel Car Audio Amplifier - Sony 6ga amp wiring kit - Pioneer DEH-7450SD head unit On average, how much would it cost to install the above All brand new , Ive spoken to FHRX but they are real perfectionists and while I admire their commitment to perfection I am by no means an audiophile and just want an average install (no sound deadening ,no testing equipment, tuning etc) done right and my car taken care off.Nothing more. Any reccomendations for good install shops in Sydney that take pride in their work and arent filled with apprentices and pimply faced teenages? Cheers

Defected - Still Want Turbo Sound Though
tripsteady replied to hop1308's topic in General Maintenance
lol , yes pack up and move purely for the bov sound... just get the cover man.. check my other thread as long as your car isnt to loud , its isnt ridiculously low and you arnt driving like a total d*ck , you should be ok 99% of the time at the end of the day you drive a skyline and if a HWP wants to defect you , he will. -
excellent. bottom line - sensible mods - dont be an a$$hole , drive sensibly and you'l be fine dont go to the extent of making sure verything is 100% defect free as it will never be 100% defect free if you drive a car like a Skyline. Its just something that comes with the territory I guess. Lets see how long i can last with my pod cover , height and front mount. Only three items I see being a possible problem
-
i have a cat and canon , it seriously isnt to loud (was thinking about making it louder but now have decided against it) I dont drive like a d*ck ever , and truthfully Ive owned my Skyline for abour 6 months now and havnt been pulled over once. Im doing everything as legal as I can do it ,I guess Il get the pod covered and hope for the best.

Defected - Still Want Turbo Sound Though
tripsteady replied to hop1308's topic in General Maintenance
so , have we come to the conclusion that as long as you have a heatshiled cover of some time , the majority of cops will not defect you? Also , there is no way to keep the bov sound while having a pod legally ( it being fully enclosed) ? -
]thanks for the advice guys but still looking for answers to the following question : FMIC - Heard these are defectable if it is open - requires a mesh in front of it . Also cant have it if you have a pod filter as only one intake mod allowed. True? Also , when you say polite , you mean the usualy , yes sir , no sir kind of thing....or does that sound like brown nosing?

Defected - Still Want Turbo Sound Though
tripsteady replied to hop1308's topic in General Maintenance
Hmm... well next thing is...how knowledgeable is the average cop on the legality of a fully enclosed box? If they just see a cover over it (that they cant remove at the time) are they likely to look beneath it or even know that its supposed to legally be fully enclosed? -
Hey guys Car : 1997 Skyline r33 s2 Recently sprayed my indicator lights at the front with VHT Nightshade Pretty dark now and looks awesome but also want to put int a brightor indicator bulb to make sure its visible... What kind would I be looking for and what would be the brightest I could put in? Would l.e.d's be the brightest? Cheers

Defected - Still Want Turbo Sound Though
tripsteady replied to hop1308's topic in General Maintenance
dammit. ok , so any links to fully enclosed boxes for pods as I want to retain the bov sound -
Hey guys So my aim was to own a Skyline but not be defectable. This seems like its going to be a hard task to accomplish unless the car is dead stock. Ive recently read the NSW defect list thread and got scared $hitless. Can anyone clarify if the following is defectable or not in NSW : - Pod filter - if it is secured and covered , is it still defectable? Heard it has to be fully enclosed. True? - FMIC - Heard these are defectable if it is open - requires a mesh in front of it . Also cant have it if you have a pod filter as only one intake mod allowed. True? - No aftermarket camber arms? - Not allowed to have larger width rear tyres then front tyres - Turbo timer not allowed I currently have the following mods - Pod filter(covered and secured but not fully enclosed) - Blitz turnflow front mount intercooler(uses stock routing of piping) - Coilovers - looks to be about 85mm clearance - i know 100mm is required) - 3 Inch exhaust straight through (sounds like its withing noise limit) - 18's 255 rear and 18's 235 front - Boost controller and boost gauge mounted behind steering wheel - Turbo timer What possible defects can I get? Are any or all of these able to be "engineered"? If so , how much generally? Is there a list that exists that anyone has a link to? Here's an article relating to defects just for your info http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Dodging-Defects/A_111168/article.html Beside returning car to stock , any other way for avoiding defects while still keeping the line looking sexy ?
