  1. Wow i didn't even know they had genuine ones. Got a picture of them? Also a price for them?
  2. Yeah saw him on Rundle street too.. Hotness.
  3. We'll i'll be there today, and hopefully i'll have some nice pics for our interstaters.
  4. Wax and Grease remover, not degreaser like the type you use in your engine bay (the one you're thinking off, usually is acidic and will eat into your paint). Theres a spray type, my detailer stocks which is about $15 a can. StageaGirl, try to avoid filler colour correction type polishes. In my experience they dull your paint. At most, use it to fill certain scratches and chips, e.g. on your bumper, key scratches you get the idea. yeah, i know hey. Another site that's worth checking is the Meguires forum.. they've helped me out of some very tight situations before. http://www.meguiarsonline.com/
  5. I was eyeing that fat wing too...looks awesome. the nismo led stove lights are the best too! i hate the clear ones on ebay.
  6. I know everyone's got their own ways of detailing their cars.. but mine on this occasion was . 1. wash the car 2. spray wax and grease remover to take off existing wax.. remove with a damp terry cloth. 3. wash again to remove the rest of the wax remover. 4. use quick detailer spray and clay the car. 5. wash the car. 6. cut if necessary (i used t-cut). 7. wax the car. second answer to the question... use a lint free polishing cloth. and i go in a back forth motion rather than in circles, try to go with the grain of the spray. always keep your cloth clean, as soon as it builds up grime swap to a clean section. i used about four-five cloths both sides to do the whole car this time around.
  7. Btw, the gentleman who distributed meguires suggested you do not try using a scouring pad or steel wool on glass, that is a huge no no. You definately need a Diminishing Abrasive, one that breaks down to a polish after it cuts or you end up with scratches that can't be removed.
  8. I'm warming to the white on white. Personally metallic grey or gold would suit white the most, but i've seen a few white on white that look alright too. All depends on your choice of rims. Definately must have a chrome edge if you're going white.
  9. You could also use a rag of some sort, there's probably no need to ruin your polishing cloth over it.
  10. Update. Meguires forum was right. Meguires Heavy Cut Cleaner (or Meguires Diamond Cut Polish) + a terry cloth + lots of elbow work will do the trick. And it also works on faded headlights for the R34 making them really crystal looking.
  11. I feel sick looking at shotty jobs like that
  12. Thanks ab! very informative post.. i'll check the sender unit out and let you know how i go.
  13. Really appreciate the work you're doing for us mate. If you could check mine.. VIN Number 6U90000ER34018678 Engine Number RB25313027A thanks heaps buddy.
  14. Could be a grounding issue vb. I had that before swapping the battery and installing a grounding kit.
  15. Think it stores it locally... but i was more interested in the fact that you can upload data from your trip and dot out a virtual path on google earth of where you been, how many hotspots you found on the way to work, and basically a lot of cool shit
  16. good if you're planing just to run a playstation or a gamecube, but as a pc monitor it'll suck pretty badly.
  17. My recommendation... carpc's and video-out do not mix. If you plan to get any sort of decent resolution on a screen, you're going to need one with vga inputs rather than composite video in. Best to get a screen that'll do at least 800x600 or better yet 1024x768. For instance : http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Lilliput-7-motorize...1QQcmdZViewItem OB1, have you had a play with the Google Earth GPS plugin yet?? It looks fantastic!
  18. Which parts specifically are you referring to? the taiwanese 1-din carputer with a slimline internal dvd rom? If you're not planning to build a carpc but instead plan to use a laptop. Best set up .... is either get a Lilliput 7" touchscreen (motorized or not is your preference), and run the vga cable and usb to your laptop. That's it. I was going to build a carpc out of a laptop also but there's too many drawbacks.... lack of startup/shutdown, inefficient if you're powering from a car cigarette lighter or a inverter, ended up being more costly if you had to buy a laptop to do it.
  19. If you get a touchscreen you won't need a track ball But you want a mini-trackball... there's a few from ebay sellers here http://search.ebay.com.au/search/search.dl...&category0=
  20. I've got a bu303 model i think the one just before the current one. I've heard of a hack you can do to make it pick up quite a number of satellites pretty quickly... you remove the battery type cap inside the unit completely, and it'll pull 7-8 sats in no time. I've heard that tint also adverse affects performance of the gps modules.... i'm thinking of discreetly housing it on the front dash somewhere, or by my sunroof. Btw ob1, what aussie maps are you running? I think i've got 2005 Q2 map monkey maps for australia. Hey stan, the software's called Roadrunner.. it's an open source front end for carpc's. Check out mp3car.com for links to RR and other front ends. It's pretty easy to configure, there's a mod for just about anything you want. As for indicative prices... budget about $300ish for an epia motherboard and suitable case.. around $110-160 for a dc-dc power supply with startup shutdown controller, and $300-$500 for a vga touchscreen depending if you want flip out or non-flip. Then get a hold of a laptop 2.5" hard drive, plus any accessories you want (bluetooth, gps, consult, etc).
  21. Nice one mate! I'm about 50% complete with my carpc install also. I like the persplex custom case you made to house your pc. Looks great. Say how do you find the gps on the rear parcel shelf of the r34? What model gps unit did you get and how quickly does it take to lock onto satellites? Been playing with bluetooth for my carpc and nearly all but given up with it. I must say bluetooth is the crappiest protocol ever invented... too much stuffing around and too much proprietory crap. Trying to get phonecontrol.net to integrate with roadrunner's becoming a nuisance. Anyhow, love your work... keep us posted mate.
  22. Interesting post I found on meguires online forum. Next time try this by hand with a piece of terry cloth or by machine with a W=7006 foam cutting pad. #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner It will work so much better than either of the two product you tried because of the type of diminishing abrasive this product uses. Next time you're around a bottle of #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner, shake up the bottle and pour a little into your fingers and then rub your fingers back and forth. You will easily feel the diminishing abrasives, (if you continue to rub your fingers together your will feel the diminishing abrasives breakdown and disappear). Now, feel any of the products in the 80's series, such as the #84 Compound Power Cleaner in the same way and it will feel like you're rubbing a soft, smooth hand lotion between your fingers. The difference is the 80's series uses microscopic diminishing abrasives while the traditional Mirror Glaze products use for lack of a better term, macroscopic diminishing abrasives. It is this larger size diminishing abrasive particle that cuts, or slices through the film that has built up on the surface of your glass and polishes it off. Liquid glass cleaners don't offer this polishing effect. When ever I detail a customers car, I'll almost always machine polish their glass with this system so that the glass is a glossy and shiny as the paint. When you do this and you've detailed the car correctly, the finished look jumps out at you! because everything on the car is gleaming. In Oregon and Washington, I ran into a lot of people with horrendous water spots on their glass, as such, I have a lot of experience polishing glass. Mike Original Link http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showt...p;threadid=4930 Sounds good! I might give this a go. You should check out that thread, the forum members decided to use it all over their bathroom and bedroom windows.. the results look great! lol
  23. LOL... you're seeing things... stay off the crack man haha Okay so it's probably not a common problem, i think i've got a grounding issue somewhere. Guess i'll just have to sit down for a day and trace it down.
  24. It's on the outside, rather than the inside so it's unlikely to be glue. But i'll ask the professionals... i've seen this sort of oxidization on a soarer that we imported, it took a razor blade and several days to remove it completely, but this is far worse that that.
  25. Does anyone have the small black east bear lip that goes under the factory nismo option front bar?
