  1. Spoons The vacuum operated (or it it positive pressure...) tool is even better though, just adjust each till they push the ball bearing the same distance up the tube (must be positive pressure...) Bigger problem is the bloody shafts wearing out and jamming up with grit and crap
  2. Just so we know its actually yours and not a pic off the net... can you get a yeti to stand next to the car for pics please
  3. I guess I may as well lower it..... its still not high enough to clear the sump over rocks anyway So you managed to get it through Regency with the coilovers in!
  4. It was the legacy that went head first into the wall wasnt it?
  5. You can pick up a decent RB30E for a few hundred dollars, then $100 worth of oil, filters, coolant, and get a couple of young guys to swap it in for a carton each, have it done in a day easy
  6. Yes.... mine is rather high lol But I havent had a cop look twice at it and I'm sure its the ride height
  7. Bahahaaha, how can you say that harry wouldn't have heard of Warwick Park... it's still quite well known. Just because you or your friend has been there and done that it doesnt mean that you are all-knowing. My old man (who is the same age as you) was racing GT6's and Spitfires at Mallala/AIR/Winton/Oran Park/Phillip Island/whereever in the 70's and 80's and he was very quick but I doubt he could be trusted to set a car up. Same with his friend who was running a historic Datsun Fairlady and won the Porsche Cup in 93ish, I doubt Chris could set anything up. The only one of his friends that I would rely on is Simon Aram, but thats because he was building front running sports sedans and Formula cars for years. Yes, you have experience and knowledge but you're not necessarilly always right. You don't always have to jump straight on people who don't agree with you 100% and sometimes you need to check exactly what has been said... Arguing about crossply slicks when someone has been talking about street cars and street tyres is a tad pointless.
  8. It was Tom Monkhouse. His car is fuuuuuucking low, I swear it sits about 4 inches lower than mine. The judging was shithouse going by a lot of what I saw today, he was pre-apexing better than the S13 and seemed to be getting the last corner better too. His brother Jack runs in the ARC in a Galant, he usually shows up at SA drift days, used to bring his 180B rally car and then brought a VR4 converted to run rwd for drifting for one or two days at Mallala
  9. I think older guys would come up because they recognise the silhouette from Bathurst and the ATCC in the late 80's
  10. 1400kg is NOT light, its heavy Ash. A Lotus Elan is a sports car, as is a Frogeye Sprite or an MX5. A Skyline isn't. Well... maybe one of the first NA DR30's, but thats it
  11. This is the classic section, not the plastic section
  12. Oooooh, hood scoops. SWEET, can't wait for it... Bodykits and sideskirts
  13. I've got an idea....... Spend $1000 getting coilovers into the car. Then start experimenting with different spring / shock combinations at $? a pop for each set of springs OR Just start experimenting with different spring / shock combinations at $? a pop for each set of springs. In both cases you'd be silly not to start with adjustable dampers so the cost of experimenting is just in the springs. I'd start by getting Industrial springs to make up a set that are about an inch lower than standard and a rating that will give about the same ride as the standard ones, maybe a tiny bit stiffer. It wouldn't be overly hard to work out what rating it needs to be. Then determine whether you want the front or rear harder or softer and get them made. Or you could go ask someone who knows what they're doing like Darren at Fulcrum for their advice. Personally I'd probably stick with the slightly lower springs and start mucking around with sway bars instead, I find that my standard springs give an ok ride and the car handles very nicely at speed on my tyres
  14. But GTS-R's didnt come with Volks, and certainly not L20DET's or touring car hubs, plus they were a very dark blue, not black.
  15. Why not just get the correct springs and dampers in the first place, why bother with getting coilovers
  16. I havent seen your car on the road for umm... a couple of years Mine does quite well for itself, it has far too much grip on the slicks and I'm not a heavy braker. Plus cops don't look at my car because its standard height and doesnt bounce around
  17. L20DET R30 GTR with knock off hub Volks... Very very rare that model, I'd be holding on to it if I were you.
  18. Doesnt that say more about how stupid your friend is?
  19. How is the car coming along Harry? And have you done anything to the 1200?
  20. And DR30RULES is how likely to be pulling up from 200 repeatedly? No doubt the GTR brakes will be better, but if your current brakes will lock up the wheels the GTR ones won't make it stop faster, you'll just get more stops in before they overheat. My car will be doing sprints at Mallala but as long as the brakes will last 5 laps I won't be upgrading them
  21. If you can lock the brakes then they have enough bite, but generally with 4 pots you can have a thicker rotor so it can soak up more heat. I havent had any problems with my standard brakes though and my car gets thrashed in the hills a lot
  22. Why do you need coilovers and why do you need 4 pot brakes?
  23. Clark Rubber
  24. Stock Nissan R89C 6:16.054 Stock Jay Leno Tank Car 9:29.538
