Went to Lake Gairdner salt lake and raced the wagon . When i got there lake had water on most of it . We couldnt race until tuesday afternoon . Wind had blown most of water away . we ran on a shortened course and it was a bit muchy in places . I did a best of 141 . 18 mph . that was on my 1st run and on the short course . After that on the Thurs and Fri i did 2 more runs . For the secound run i increased fuel 10 % fitted new plugs and fitted cold air intake . At 5550 rpm in 5th it started missing , fuel starvation prob . For the last run i connected up the 6 ltr surge tank with extra bosch pump and had same prob . mmmm . I did break my class record by 4 mph , and considering the condition of the track , and the fact that not many records were broken this year , I spose i should be pleased . just got to sort that fuel prob out .

I HAVE AN RB30DE . Has a stock rb25de head ( stock cams valves and not ported ) , rb25det 370 cc injectors , extractors , 10.5 -1 compression , twin rb25de throttle bodies , Apexi safc 2 . Its in a 1986 aussie built station wagon with manual gearbox . Never been on a dyno , but best 1/4 mile time is 14.4 @ 94 mph .

thanks for that . couldnt find listing for plugs on internet . looked up the ngk catalog at the supercheap store , rb25de and det use same plugs , so guess i,m using the right ones anyway .

Just wondering what sort of plugs others are using in their rb30de . I,ve had a set of NGK iridiums in for around 50000 kms now , and never even pulled them out for a look yet . Am using BKR5EIX-11 . just found out these are the plugs for an r 33 rb25det and not sure now if they are the correct type to use in an rb30de . Any comments welcome .

in my rb30de i use rb25det injectors ( 370 cc ) as against 270 cc for rb25de injectors . i also have an apexi safc 2 . oh and a malpassi fuel pressure reg .

Am using rb25de 5 spd that has the taller ( . 76 ) 5th gear , 3.7 diff . This setup gives me an overall ratio of 2.81 Also i use the tallest tyres i can find that have a speed rating of 240 kmh ( 205-70 x 14 ) . 6000 rpm in 5th = 158 mph ( 252 kmh ) . Also taking 2 smaller dia sets of tyres for the rear to gear it down if i need too .

yes couple of reasons for such a huge surge tank . 1/ i.m at full throttle for up to 8 kms and around 5 km at max speed . 2/ only need a relatively small lift pump running at low pressure ( bosch 040 ) in the tank , and allows me to keep the stock fuel lines to the front . from the surge tank i,m using a bosch 909 inline pump for the high pressure side of the fuel system . heres an earlier pic of when i 1st put 2 x tb set up on

2006 EVENT ON 6-10 MARCH I,m going to run the red wagon again . Have done a few mods , twin throttle body set up , 6 ltr surge tank and extra fuel pump , adjustable cam gear on exhaust cam and a bit more tuning . Hopefully will get the 150 mph ( 240 kmh ) i,m after .

stock rb30e only makes around 80 rwkw . i got mine up to 108rwkh with rechipped ecu , big cam , extractors , head worked , xf falcon t/b .

cant say for sure if turbo and n/a piston rings the same , the manual i have doesnt say . spark plugs . ngk iridium DKR5EIX-11 had them in for 40000 kms now , never even had them out to check , will pull out in next week or so to check . these are the same as rb25de use .

do you know the pin hieght in the pistons is different . the rb25 pistons sit around .060" lower in the bore of the rb 30 on the rb30 rods . i run mine this way cos it still gives 10.5 -1 compression . you could deck the block to bring pistons up higher and get 11.5 -1 compression . Are you fitting new piston rings to the rb25 pistons . The top piston ring is different between the rb25 and 30 pistons . thickness rb25 1.25 mm rb 30 1.5 mm . The other piston rings are the same . If you did get new rb25 piston rings , where did you get them . When i built my engine i had to reuse the top ring allready on the rb25de pistons

fuel consumption hwy driving 9.5 ltr /100 km and better ( 10.6 km / ltr ) city driving 10.8ltr /100 km (9.2 km / ltr )

I used the rb25de cast exhaust manifold as a template for the exhaust place to profile cut a flange . so extractors flange is same as rb25 . my timing belt cost $65 2 yrs ago . well the engine seems ok after all , not using oil , smoke maybe was over rich fuel setting . hope to have it dynoed before i take it to salt lake speed trials in 7 weeks

BADR33 Ive built an rb30de This is what i did . Bought a complete r33 rb25de with loom and ecu for $1100 . Put the rb25de pistons on the rb30 rods . new rings and rod bearings . fitted rb25de head after filling oil passage for the vvt . relocated cam belt tensioner and used 1 x tensioner . hooked up the vvt using external feed from the oil pressure sender . made extractoors using a set of rehashed rb30e ones , now using rb25det 370 cc injectors apexi safc2 fitted originally had an 68 mm xf falcon t/b fitted with all this best 1/4 mile was 14.7 now have 2 x rb25 t/b manifold fitted and does 14.4 for the 1/4 , but it really needs to go on the dyno . i,ve now had this engine in for around 40000 kms , gets great fuel consumption and idles smoothly at 800rpm . lots of low down torque too . really dont know why Nissan didnt build this engine themselves .

Various Car Parts

hello i have also sent you a pm . do you still have the exhaust cam for sale -
I used Pintara 4.11 crown wheel and pinion on my aussie built r31 skyline with the borg warner diff . I fitted the crown wheel to the skyline centre . It bolts straight in ( bolt holes are the same ) . The skyline has 4 side gears as against the pintaras 2 . Also skyline has 28 spline axles , pintara 25 spline axles . My diff is open centre but i have fitted a mini spool which cost me $ 77 new . I,m not sure about axles for a VL think they are 25 spline with the turbo model having 28 spline , i may be wrong . By the way my engine is rb30de , and was happy with 3.7 gears , but i just wanted better times at the drags , hence the 4.11 mini spooled diff .

hey , ever heard of good manners and trying to help people . i,m sure people dont come into forums to be treated like that .
