never seen an rb30 e that looked like that , whats it out of
-
i have been comunicating with a guy in california who races a vehicle at the dry lakes . the engine he uses has a lot of similarities to the rb series 24v . you see hes using a ford taurus sho 3000cc dohc 24 v V6 ( this engine was designed by yamaha ) . the thing is they have ditched the fuel injection and have gone back to carby for simplicity sake . results 425hp @ 9600 rpm using a 1000cfm carb , cosworth cams , stronger conrods , heads ported and extractors . the original output of these engines is very similar to the rb series . so far their maximum speed has been over 220 mph ( 350 kmh )

heres what i spent on it , will probably scare me when i add all this up . r33 rb25de engine with harness and ecu $ 1100 timing belt , piston rings big end bearings and gasket set about $ 450 auto elctrician to wire it up $ 500 rb23 det 370 cc injectors $ 150 second hand injectors clean and test $ 130 malpassi fuel press reg about $ 180 bosch fuel pump 040 , new about $ 250 throttle body mods , about $ 120 apexi safc new $ 475 now whats that add up too , gees thats $ 3355 . mind you didnt do it all at once . the fuel press reg , bigger injectors and cleaning , bosch fuel pump were all done over a time span of about a year . i built up the engine over 4 mths as i had time and money . and i had a spare rb30e engine lieing around to start with . THERES PIC OF IT IN MY PROFILE

yep ive done it rb30e with rb25de head ( r33 ) with vvt . has the rb25de pistons ( 10.5 -1 compression ) modified xf falcon tb now 68 mm throttle plate . rehashed rb30e extractors . rb25det injectors . malpassi adjustable fuel pressure regulator , bosch 040 in tank fuel pump . stock cams , head not modified just port matched to manifolds , stock rb25de ecu , apexi safc 2 fitted . rb25de gearbox and stock non lsd 3.7 ratio diff havnt had it on a dyno have done around 30000 kms on it since march 2004 , no probs .

i had my old red 1986 gx wagon there . best i did was a 14.8 @ 92mph .Its got a rb25de head on rb30e bottom end , non turbo . -
on my rb25de headed rb30e, i put a modified xf falcon t/b ( had it bored out 4mm making it 68 mm at the butterfly) . was an easy fit . just ported manifold a bit to suit the t/b . now i remember had to mess with the t/b switch a bit , give you details if you want . as for performance difference , i dont really know cos i never ran the engine before i had put in on .

do they make a steel rim that size or are they mags ?

hi there DEANO hey you getting bigger diam rims to come out to the salt lake , where the real guys race

not a real simple fix went to an exhaust shop and they profile cut some new flanges useing the cast iron rb25de manifold as a template then i fitted the flanges to the head to align to ports put flat washers on the manifold studs then tack welded the flat washers to the flanges . that way your flanges are aligned as best as possible . at this stage i ported the flanges to match perfectly to the heads ports . i then cut the flanges off the rb30e extractors . to get the pipes to line up with the flanges , i had to cut the secondary pipe that is fed by the 3 front cyls then rejoin . tack welded the pipes to the flanges removed extractors from engine and welded it all back together . now if i had my camera i would do some pics , but its not here so if you are still interested i,ll post some later ( there are 2 pics of my engines in my profile but dont show exhaust very clearly ) much easier to buy a manufactured set , but i allready had the rb30e extractors from the previous engine the local exhaust shop was willing to make me a set for $650 , another place called Gonzo pipes said $ 900 but people tell me he is the best

RB25DE EXTRACTORS NEEDED . Hurricane extractors , hmm , haven,t heard of them . do you have pics or where you can get them . Also the fujitsubo extractors anybody know where you can get them or at least a pic of them I modified a set of rb30e extractors to fit , but would prefer bigger primaries .

PM SENT to you Mason -
Have you ever taken it to the drags 1/4 mile time would be interesting . Your high compression turbo set really interests me . My rb30 has an r33 rb25de head , using the rb25de pistons gives me 10.5 compression . a boost of 5 psi would equel a 7 psi boost at 10.0 compression . I,m part the way there in that i,m allready using rb25det injectors and have bosch 040 fuel pump , and i,ve got a rb25det exhaust manifold sitting under the workbench . So really i just need a turbo , oil and water lines and intake and exhaust pipes . Currently i,m using a 68 mm xf falcon t/b , and the afm is the same they use on stock rb25det . I still have to sort out a fuel starvation prob i had when running at lake gairdner speed trials , need bigger fuel lines and maybe a swirl pot . I,m also using the stock rb25de ecu with an safc 2 .

tyres for speeds up to 150 mph ( 240 kmh ) HR rated tyres " " " " 200 mph ( 320 kmh ) VR or ZR rated tyres most good quality radials are at least HR rated these days . you can download the rule book for free at www.dlra.org.au the salt hasnt done my car any damage yet . i,ve had it there 3 times . just clean it with air and water underneath . also because i drive it there i believe most of the salt gets shaken off on the road out of there ( about 150 kms of gravel and corrugations ) . i dont use an air filter at all , just have an 80 mm intake sticking out the front below the front bumper . at high speeds it s allmost like having a low pressure supercharger ( gave me an extra 6 mph the first time i used it )

nope , just come and race with us in March .
-
thanks for that , thats what i was after

only allowed there when the event is on . its classified as a national park . our club has to pay a $ 2000 deposit to use it and if we make a mess like oil spills etc we loose some or all our deposit . access to the salt lake is thru a sheep station called Mt Ive ( about 1 million acres of it ) . the station owners are tourist oriented the whole year . they have a camp ground at the homestead as well about 20 km from the lake . seems a bit ironic but the speed limit on the lake is 60 kmh , at all other times .

n/a injectors 270 cc/min turbo injectors 370 cc/min both use same head and inlet manifold same air flow meter

could you be a bit more specific about where to find that info . by .7 what psi do you mean ( i figure 10 psi ) , am i correct
