drunkenmaster replied to nismo devil r33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Have a think about if you will do a package with the: GT30 Haltech oil cooler and Pm me, thanks -
Hi Guys, I am readjusting my project stockpile and one item which I may not need are the EVO 1 recaros I bought. They are the N-JOY reclinable style ones, they are black with a dark grey suede/felt type centre and they include seats rails and seat belt latches. No rips. Bolt in upgrade for GSR's or good upgrade for skylines etc. $750. Can deliver around Melbourne. thanks

Fs: Hks Gt 2535
drunkenmaster replied to TZNYOU's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Anyone know the suitability for this on a 3.0? Im thinking maybe on the small side, what is the A/R? -
I see what you mean now, I think the lines were blurred between suitability and quality. I think just because HKS take some of the guess work out of the Garrett range, doesnt mean that they will be automatically better suited for individual applications, but certainly easier for Joe Schmoe
-
Because garrett's target market isn't the aftermarket boy racer where as HKS's is? Garrett supply to a much larger market than the aftermarket industry and I sincerely doubt HKS have much OEM input in the scheme of things, certainly pale in comparison to garrett. I am/have worked for 2 of the largest suppliers to the automotive industry in Australia, probably the world, and I can assure you neither of them could care less about showcasing anything at autosalon. I think too many people put faith into the supposed extensive R&D performed by the japanese aftermarket industry, I am not sure where they get their facts or ideas from in this area. Sure they supply good products, any good business around the world will, but blind faith is a dangerous thing.

Hi Guys, Could those experienced in sump design please comment on this non baffled sump, it looks a bit rough to me but I have not much experience in them Thanks http://board.performanceforums.com/forums/...ostid=839172552

I tend to disconnect everything that is attached to both the motor and the car at the same time, it makes it hard to pull otherwise Seriously though, just have a look on both sides of the head and block, it becomes obvious what needs to be unplugged, unhooked, unscrewed etc just remember where it all goes back!

I understand what it is, but i was referring to its size respective to the CD on the left. Considering popular external gates start at around 38mm, it doesnt look that far off.
-
Thanks, I understand, I guess I am just looking to take advantage of a bargain. the big online suppliers all do an internal gated GT30 or GT3040, I think on an exchange basis with the stock turbo to use the exhaust housing. These are over $2k plus the exchange turbo which I dont have, but they seem like the way to go for this application.

It doesnt look THAT small :aroused:

Why is that? at around 15psi I thought it still may be up to the task? Maybe you think that this power level will only keep me happy for a short time before i get silly with the boost? I am sure this will not happen due to a few thoughts of mine: My 3L engine is not built with stronger internals, don't want to break anything. I never plan to run 20psi+ for power runs etc, numbers are not my interest. i have fully seam welded the car, but short of a full cage, the paper thin chassis will have trouble with too much torque across it. 250 at the rears will be plenty. To testify to the power delivery I want, i almost bought a VH45 before this motor was built. Anyways, I appreciate the input and if you can clarify to me why you think this it would be great Thanks

Revive the dead thread I was pretty much sold on the idea of the gt3040 but the seller of the internally gated gt3540 has come back to me and now I am tempted again. Is it really too big? What would be the effect? Bear in mind that it will be cheaper than the GT3040 which seems to be mid to high $2000's plus supplying your own rb25det exhaust housing?

R33 GTR intercooler for sale!

Please post photos -
It must be just me but I am not building a performance car just to make funny sounds? As above, personal choice I suppose.

I'd lean towards "Yes, eventually"

RB26 suited ecu loom on other RB motors?
drunkenmaster replied to drunkenmaster's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks. I'll extend on this a little further: What about plug and play ECU's like the power fc and wolf v4? The head I am using is an RB25DE and matching engine loom. Will this suit an RB25DET spec plug in ECU? Are the ECU connectors on the engine loom or the dash loom? -
I am looking at a 2nd hand Autronic from an RB26 with loom an sensors and am wondering what would be involved in order to use on my RB25DE/RB30 3.0 twin cam turbo from a wiring/sensor point of view. I would think it would be pretty similar but do not have any experience in this Thanks

Very interesting. So which suppliers are actually supplying complete up to date turbo assemblies?
-
All of them will, whether there sheer size will foul up against anything is another matter and whether you want/need and external gate will also dictate whether you need a new manifold. Half my dilema above is the fact I cant really stretch the budget another $2k for a new manifold and external gate when my project is already running $10k over budget.
-
Thanks, very definitive answer there! What is the GT3040 made using or do garrett actually supply this combination? So the GT3540 is sliding out of the question?
-
Thanks for the input. Does the GT25R flange suit the RB manifold? I had thought (with no evidence) that the GT25's were matched to the SR series. The decision i have to make is that the GT3540 i have in mind is new and around the $2k mark. I also had a look around and both horsepowerinabox and UAS offer bolt on upgrades which look like standard turbos with GT cartridges, also UAS have the internally gated GT3040. There seems to be too many choices to do the same thing.

The RB30DET, is that with an RB25DET top end, RB25DE top end or RB26DETT top end? RB25DE If you used an RB25DET top end, do you still have the standard turbo? No What are you going to use the Zed car for? Road car with light recreational track. Is your power target really only 250 rwkw? I beleive so, in a 1000kg car I think it should do fine. The compression ratio of 8.3 to 1 and 1 bar target boost, are they correct? Yes What engine management are you using? Undecided, most likely autronic SM2 What boost controller? Like wise. Background: I am building the car from the ground up, over the last 6 monthes I have stripped the car to a shell, had it sandblasted on a rotisserie, now it is at home with the engine bay and interior painted only and the RB30DET has just arrived home from the engine builders. I have to finish off work on completing my garage/workshop so this gives me some time to do some research/shopping etc. I could have bought a GTR with the projected cost of the project, so understandably funds are starting to slow down now and hence the interest in running an internal gate and saving $2k of manifold and gate. Thanks for your help.

Ok, another question: How does desired boost pressure affect turbo selection? i.e. is there a rule of thumb in turbo sizing for low and high boost applications?
