  1. I'll see if Jaycar still do that 5.5 - 6a DC power supply , fella may not have known about them if he's new or was not in stock . All this BS is over using a dated lap top with a serial port and it only wants to work on battery power and the Datalogit few a few moments - no matter how long it's charged for . It can play a DVD movie for nearly 40 min on battery power but caves in very quickly with the Datalogit . Am I to assume that the Datalogit has high power demands through its serial port or is it some other weird electronic glitch ? This is using the Datalogit with the supplied USB serial converter BTW ... Yes I can hear the thoughts - why is he bothering with serial ports and not using them ? If that USB converter dies (and they can at times) your stuffed if you don't have the RS232 serial port . Cheers A .
  2. Just back from Jaycar again , they can't supply a DC DC adapter to feed this lap top 5 amps . Up to 3.5 amps only . They suggest that I see Hardley Normals and their best offering was a white AC and DC fed charger - for $199 ... No chance . Any ideas ?
  3. My lap tops AC adapter "brick" (67x36x165) reckons its output is 20V 5a and it gets very warm . Is a 12v 12v gasper adapter going to run this thing ? Actually I've just checked out the AC adapters on the other two LT's in this joint and they are 19v 3.5a and 15v 2a . ? . Yeah the pure sine wave Digitech 380w rated 240v AC inverter is ~ $240 . What else would it be able to feed - 380 watt ? Cheers A .
  4. So 50% for the 740's (side feed) and what latency ? Cheers A .
  5. I was having a read through the K Mon thread and it seems people like Guilt Toy and a few others are a step ahead with "reliable" power supplies for Lap Tops . Just today I was looking at inverters at my local Jaycar outlet and they carry two kinds of Digitech units in a range of outputs ie 150/300/400w - thats the modified sine wave type , and 150/380w etc in the pure sine wave type . I gather the pure sine wave type is better but I'm not sure which wattage level is the go and what 240AC devices that say the 380w one could run . Also I'd like to know more about the 12v 12v power pack device as well . Cheers and thanks , A .
  6. The R34 GTt side mount IC's are a little better than the R33 ones and you average insurance clot wouldn't know the difference . Cheers A .
  7. To get into the same solar system (but not really close) the best I reckon your going to get is with an RB26 top end and probably an RB30 bottom end . Don't know about the TT Bimmer but many before it had one throttle per cylinder inlet system and you won't get even close to it with one throttle - no matter what size it is . Thats purely for throttle response . I'd say Bimmer went with two turbos for the same reasons Nissan did , easier to package than one big unit and you get the advantages of pulse separation (with parallell twins on an inline 6 with a conventional firing order) PLUS one waste gate for each group of three cylinders . Cheapest would probably be a complete RB26 with a slightly higher CR and worked over head with mild cams and a pair of GTSS's . Granted not cheap but cheaper than the Bimmer engine would be I think . A .
  8. No time for this atm , being banished to Parks v soon . T04Z uses T series wheels , P trim T04 turbine and T04R compressor . I'd go with whatever makes the best innitial and mid range - torque wins races . Spud out , back soon .
  9. I'm not sure if I posted this but I did eventually get the supplied extension cord to fit under duress into my PFC's socket . I hate to admit I guttsed it but with a few prayers it did go in - it's just a whole lot tighter than it should be . The risk here is pushing the plug so hard that the socket in the PFC could break its mount and fall inside the box . I think the the bastards at Apexi don't use an industry standard 5 pin mini DIN socket , their rectangular hole for the plastic guide peg is smaller than a std 5 pin mini DINs peg . They possibly realised that 5 and 6 pin mini DIN plugs and sockets are very similar , all thats different is the 6th pin and the plastic guide peg/hole . Apexi's is basically a std 5 pin with a "custom" smaller guide peg hole to suit the commanders plug - which has a real skinny non standard plastic guide pin . Anyway the extension cord lives in the car and runs behind the carpet and under the edge of the console out of sight so that the black box and laptop can easily reach from the co pilots seat . I now need to nut out the software and interface the Tech Edge WB02 and start tuning . Going to be different working with MAF rather than MAP like the old Haltech and Autronic computers I had used . Cheers A . PS Also now in the Yahoo users group and have posted asking why some MAF Toyotas have a "base " AFR fuel table as well as the usual fueling table . Why doesn't the Nissan FC Logit software have this feature ?
  10. Fair enough Cubes , I imagine that would have been the cheapest way to get them at the time . 8 hunnet for a turbine housing , that's getting painful . I've got too many other things going on at the moment to worry about turbos for myself - Skyline anyway . I will be keeping an eye on the twin scroll twin integral gate Evo 10 variant of the GT3076R , I doubt its model specific footprint could be easily adapted to a twin outlet T3 manifold but you never know . A TS 0.94 A/R housing would be creamy on a well set up RB25DET . A .
  11. From what I was told the Garrett IW T3 flanged GT30 turbine housings were developed here in Aus and I'm not so sure there is any complete GT30xxR unit sold through Garrett with one . You can option them provided your turbo supplier has them . If you read the Garrett blurb page on GT3076R's it tells you that the cartridge and compressor housing is sold as is and you option turbine housings for them - well someone in the supply chain does anyway . Find a turbo supplier than can get the GT3076R turbo pn 700382-12 and tell them you'll only accept the genuine Garrett T3 flanged GT30 integral wastegate turbine housing in 0.82 A/R ratio . Others here have done it through mobs like (I think) Slide or GCG . If you don't trust your own judgement post the ID Tag no's on anything that looks interesting and I'm sure someone here will tell you if it's what your asking for or not . If anyone has pics of the above mentioned turbo post away , actually I'm reasonably sure that combination is what Cubes is using . Cheers A .
  12. Has anyone run one with a mass airflow sensor and if so does it work with the std loom wiring ? Cheers A .
  13. I don't remember the numbers for the stroke of a VG33 , from memory I think VG30's are 87 bore and 83 stroke - what RB30's should have been . What are you setting out to achieve ? Nissan obviously thought that the VG30 four cam engines were less than perfect and I guess they are bulky and heavy . Maybe just using a VQ35 is a better idea . Cheers A .
  14. I'm not sure how compatable a VQ crankshaft would be with a VG30 bottom end . However I did read about a Pathfinder in America (was an article in the now gone NPM - Nissan Performance Magazine E zine) about someone who put a VG33 ? crank in a VG30 block . I seem to remember them using the VG ? 33 heads as well but not why they did it . Search VG33 specs , cheers A .
  15. Have you ever driven one of those heaps of garbage ? Porkafied Falcon wagon pretending to be an SUV . Just another heavy bloated unguided missile to avoid ...
  16. Out luck on the twin entry T3 flange , Mitsy's turned the turbocharger around I think on the Evo 10 Lancer and changed it from reverse to the normal rotation direction . I'm told the turbo mounting flange on the 10 is just a reverse mirror image of that on used on the Evo 4-9 and that this rehashed twin scroll GT3076R is intended to be a direct bolt on for the current Evo and packaged to suit . So unless Garrett decide to make a T3 flanged version or some kind of adapter was made it won't be much use to us . I supposed a unique manifold could be made but it'd only be any good with that turbocharger . Cheers A .
  17. The housings are different , not even close . I believe the cartridges are the same though , I think it's 446179-21 . My list shows two complete unit numbers , 472560-4 and 472560-11 but not sure which is single type and which is twin type . Cheers A .
  18. Yes , more ethanol out there - bring it on . Have you noticed that just about everyone now sells unleaded E10 and it's just about become the std read cheap fuel about the place . Im beginning to wonder if the 85/15 grade may have been biting off more than most cars can chew ATM and it's possible that something more like E15 or E20 would be more in fitting with what most modern cars with self learning computers can cope with . I suppose if manufacturers were prepared to use larger injectors and give their computers a bit more scope to increase fueling it would help , I guess along with an ethanol content sensor thats a lot of what a Flex Fuel car has . Dealers could probably organise a flash tune probe and injectors as a factory upgrade if it was worth their while . Also while I'm here can someone tell me what the Ryco part no is for an R33 fuel filter (GTS25T) . Cheers A .
  19. Dropped in here today because I wanted to slip in enough E85 to bring Bp Ultimate up to "E10" , 99.6c per liter . Yes the pumps are locked but the feller gave me the keys when said I only wanted 4L and that I accepted full responsibility , got a love em - 10 or 12 minutes up the road from work . A .
  20. No the other way round I think . All the T04B wheels I've seen are ~ 70mm OD or 2.75" where the T04S ones were ~ 76mm or about 3" . My lists show T04B 6/12 (39 to 70 trims) and 8/16 bladed (39 to 63 trims) , plus T04S (TB41 ?) as 7/14 bladed (34 to 58 trim) . A lot of variation here so I need ID tag numbers and some pics of the turbo preferably with the housings off to know for sure . A .
  21. One of my contacts tells me that Garrett is tooling up to make a std rotation GT3076R for I think Evo Lancers , I think the turbine housings are going to be available in 0.7x and 0.9x A/R sizes which would be on the money . I may have seen pics of them and will see if I can find them . From memory they have the ported shroud comp housing and some kind of bolt on curved right angle bend on the snout . Pray hard for a split T3/Euro T4 mount flange people because if thats what it has we've hit the jackpot . Cheers A .
  22. For 8 bladed , what I call 8/16 because they have 8 full height a 8 splitter blades , I think you must mean th old T04B series . There were actually a few 6/12 balded wheels in the B series - the largestbeing the T04B H trim . Pics when it turns up , A .
  23. Do a few searches on Top Gear/5TH Gear and the evo 6/6.5 . I remember seeing a back to back comparison of I think a 6 and a 8 or 9 . The testers felt that the 6 was marginally quicker possibly due to is smaller size and weight . I think the TME is a marketing exercise and if you were going to throw Billies at it the factory dampers and springs don't matter . You can make an E6 handle better than factory and ride better as well . On price I wouldnt touch a TME . I think most people like Evo 6's because its a good combination of parts and they work . If you can look beyond the fit and finish they're hard to pass up , not everyone can because they're not really in the same class as most Skylines of the era - fit and finish wise . These cars can be very expensive to buy for their age , they cost a fortune new and owners want their money back - particularly for the locally sold Ralli Art 6.5 . I think just shy 0f 70 G new ?
  24. Well the engine has to be able to breathe in and out effectively meaning the ports/valve sizes/cam profiles/manifolds and exhaust all have to be up to it . If you can , measure exhaust manifold pressure under load and compare it to compressor outlet pressure . If the hot side pressure is two to three times the compressor side then I'd say exhaust gas restriction is the problem . The compressor/housing combination (71.1mm GT35 in 56T/ 0.50 A/R T04E) can pump enough air to make ~ 450 Hp/335 Kw , that doesn't mean a production engine can necessarily do it easily . People have talked about R33 RB25 heads being a bit short on exhaust valve and port side size and the one example I know of that fixed these problems made more power/torque everywhere , could take more ignition advance I think everywhere as well . It's Tomei camshafts are the icing on the cake and it still didn't lose anything anywhere - all gains . Personally I don't think you can lose with decent camshafts , it's the next best thing to reworking the head and they're a bolt in . A .
  25. Ball bearing T04S ? That would have to be either a large frame P trim/60-1 or a T04Z . How many compressor blades ? A .
