  1. Hi, Boostzor! Yeah, I am just throwing some facts out there for you guys. I know there aren't a large number of Supras in your part of the world. The Supra is a chunky pig, but there is plenty of power on tap to make up for it. The MKIV suspension and factory brakes are superb, and many, many MKIV owners flog their cars at roadcourses with tons of success. Neat site: www.onelapsupra.com for a peek at Andi Baritchi's very nimble MKIV. Vipers and Ferraris and Z06 Vettes fear him. Again, it is personal choice. If I needed a daily monster to drive, or wanted to cut nasty lap times, I would choose a lightly-modded R33 GTR (my fave). I say "lightly" because I don't want broken 5-speeds or AWD components while racing a Corvette on the trip to the office. For all-out drag racing and street supremacy, I chose the Supra. Bulletproof rear IRS, nuclear-proof engine, and big 4-piston brakes. Not to mention you can run a 9-second ET and drive home with the a/c on. ...and chicks dig Supras. :uh-huh: Either car is a great choice for assaulting domestic V8 owners...
  2. Couple of items: 1) Stock shortblock in a MKIV Supra has supported almost 1000rwhp. Visit www.T04R.com for the details. Take a peek at Mike Carlin's beast. 980rwhp using a power-robbing TH400 trans. Many cars there making mad power on stock internals. 2) Stock IRS rearend with stock axles and a TRD limited-slip in Paul Efantis' MKIV has gone 8.255 sec @ 171 mph on DRAG RADIALS. Not too shabby for a RWD car meant for "roll-on's". What is the GTR street radial tire record? Not some lightweight either, like some stripped R32. Paul's car weighs over 3200#. 3) Visit www.WOTM.com to see the fastest 6-speed, NO nitrous, full-weight street Supra. That Getrag V160 gearbox is tougher than you may think. 4) Visit www.TitanMotorsports.com to see their 8-second 6-speed DRAG RADIAL car. They now run a 2-speed Powerglide, but ran 8's with the Getrag. 5) Somebody mentioned the stroker kits availble for the GTR. There are stroker kits available for the Supra, also, and for a LOT less money. By simply machining the stock crank, Chevy small-block V8 rods can be fitted. I am currently having this done to my new engine. Final displacement will check in at 3.3L or more. 6) At the dragstrip, we have found no GTR advantage using the AWD system. Evo's and WRX's are no trouble, either. Why? Because we race on slicks at the track. We have no traction problems. If anything, we have seen many, many broken AWD components at the track, while the RWD cars keep going. The extra AWD weight and parasitic power loss is a hindrance as well. 7) For those that think Supras are only fast from a roll (popular rumor), there are many, many videos posted on SupraForums showing the opposite. Our own Chicago-area automatic street Supras cut consistent 1.4X and 1.5X 60' times at the strip. 8) Not flaming the GTR, as it is an awesome car that deserves much respect. I hope to own one in the near future to use as a street driver and roadcourse car. But I would never sell my Supra to buy one. I will have to keep them both... Cheers, Dan
  3. We have temporarily disabled new memberships for a few days. We recently banned a few trolling azzholes, and are trying to prevent them from re-registering under a new name. Try again in a few days, dude.
  4. Some of you guys need to use the big-ass mongo-sized US 4X4 monster truck transfer cases and diffs in those GTRs. :uh-huh:
  5. Depends on how you do it. We did it the RIGHT way. The trans was cut and drilled to accept a 2JZ bellhousing. A custom torque converter was built to mate the trans to the stock flexplate. An adaptor allows the TH400 to bolt to the stock crossmember. A custom driveshaft was also built. The stock shifter works, and the trans even has a custom electronic lockup unit that handles 1000+hp.Check the photo I posted and see the nice fit. No tunnel trimming required!
  6. GM Powerglide. Been in most 1960's US cars and light trucks. Lots of drag racers use them in highly modified form. Usually found in rail dragsters...
  7. Cool! Need more fast MKIV Supras from down there! :uh-huh:
  8. TH400 going in mine...
  9. Another pic. Again, the car ran NO nitrous on the pass, and it was on drag radials.
  10. No vids yet. Car runs a 100mm Turbonetics unit, 272 cams, TH350 trans with transbrake, VP C16 fuel, and a factory IRS rearend. Here's a pic:
  11. Damned right, we love the juice. Why not go faster if possible? No footage yet. I will post it as I get it.
  12. Paul Efantis from Maryland, USA just ran a nasty time qualifying in TX: 2950#, stock IRS rear, TH350 trans, no nitrous... 60' 1.418 330' 3.68 1/8 5.53 MPH 133.50 1000 7.12 1/4 8.467 @ 167.28 MPH This was on BF Goodrich DRAG RADIALS! Paul also can be seen street-driving the car in his home town. :uh-huh:
  13. www.mvpmotorsports.com + credit card = a Wings West lip shipped to you.
  14. You bet! We're confident it will go 9.90's off the juice. Hoping for low 9's or better on the spray! :burnout:
  15. Here is a teaser pic I had:
