  1. dunno havent really sat down and calculated all that accuratly... but some headunits that go for say $1500 Aus can be bought from the USA for $380-$410 when I look around on online shops. Surely taxes and shipping cant add up to a thousand bucks can they???? *dont think so*
  2. Thanks Majanal ... all goes well I will send you my application in a couple of weeks proudly with my Skyline's model and everything *finger's crossed* and then I'll be anxiously waiting for the next cruise! :)
  3. Hi, I live in Sydney, and am currently actively looking for a R34 GT-T (see my sig for more info) I think I may have found one, and was hoping one of you could recommend a workshop I could take it to for a thorough mechanical check (with a written report). Of course, I'd be willing to pay for the service but that's not the main point here. Basically, what I am asking is, who (as in what workshop) would you trust to check your potential purchase before you forked over a large amount of $$$. Places like Powerplay come to my mind straight away, so tell me what you think of them, or perhaps suggest other places? On a final note, is NRMA a waste of money? (I am thinking yes from what I read and hear, but please confirm). Any help / advice you can give me as to where to take the car would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  4. NismoR34 ... thanks for that mate ... yeah but this dealer told me he won't let me have it checked by the RACV ( see this thread for further info: click here ) so it made me a bit unsure as to whether I really wanted to check it out ... so .... I am still looking
  5. glad I saw this ... I will join what sort of discounts for stuff do you get once you join? I want to do a service on my car as soon as I buy it and buy some nice wheels and decent rubber ... can you help me with that?
  6. Tony can you recommend any shops in Sydney I can take it for a comprehensive check (for a R34)
  7. isnt this just the sydney autosalon, and the one around november is the final battle (the one where all the state winners fight it out for god of autosalon?) dunno...
  8. ps. I hope you all had fun and got home safe
  9. I wish I could come but I dont have a car yet Hope I will by the next time you all have a Thai dinner (I love Thai food!) cross your fingers for me so my car comes soon!
  10. daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn that looks hot. I want I want please!! who's is it?
  11. thanks 33NIZ ... hopefully when I get one and you are ever down here we'll go for a mini-cruise eh?
  12. hmm ... alright thanks guys. I reckon best bet is to get a check by a local trusted import specialised nissan mechanic... someone like powerplay imports for example perhaps (in sydney) what do you think?
  13. um .... a bent chassis is a problem full stop. I dont need to pay more money to a workshop to tell me that. but I see your point and I agree. I will be having a check by a workshop as well for sure. (on the next car I find that is)
  14. During my search for an R34, I had an interesting conversation from a dealer / importer in Victoria, who expressed his opinion on what he thought about NRMA / RACV / RACQ checks: Me: So can I do a RACV check on the car? Dealer: No. Me: Um ... can I ask why? Dealer: Well ... we feel that they are biased, and always give a bad report on import cars. Me: What information are you basing this on. Dealer: Past experience with them, and also the fact that I think they are in cahoots with all the local manufacturers like Holden and Ford, compounded with the new BS regulations that have come in to make life hell for all of us. So, you can get it checked whereever else you like, but as far as RACV is concerned, you cant take it there. Me: Ok thanks for that. I'll get back to you. See ya. Dealer: Bye. So, there you have it. What do you all think? Is this true this "cahoots" business? or just a load of crock?
  15. Sciby: where did you get your loan from?? I was going to use prestige but then I heared that all finance companies will NOT finance you for a car that is not even on Australian soil?!? any advice there mate? Cwest: I have been in constant touch with Joanne, but I haven't really seen any recommendations from her come through yet. But she's looking into it for me as an option.
  16. blitz on what, skyline owners?
  17. Powerplay wants 42-45K for a R34 GT-T... I am not really looking to pay that much for one I think that's a bit over-priced. R33 GTR ... hmm... didn't really think about it, but yeah it's a possibility, but I doubt you can get a decent example under 40k???
  18. damn you Rob I want those plates!!
  19. cell I emailed you back. consider the price range I said. You can keep the wheels and give me the originals if it helps things btw you in melbourne or sydney?
  20. yotis you have pm.
  21. EVO83 I understand that you think that RACQ would not see a lot of imports, but then again you might be suprised. They do get to look at quite a few. The problems were not ... mechanical. The car was fine mechanically, and would probably run like a dream. The bodywork however (if you know what you are looking at) was on a totally different level though. PM me if you want to know more I guess as I'd rather not say more here.
  22. yeah I aint too worried about warranty ... as I will be looking to buy decent brands (like pioneer or alpine) what do u think?
  23. let me know when it's complied Rigo .. I am still interested. Also are you willing to get a RACQ test on it done and post it?
  24. Well I had one checked at a dealer in QLD by the RACQ, and that didnt go so well (the car was quite banged up even though the photos looked sweet) Anyway ... gotta keep searching
