do what i do - place the used oil in an open container, such as a large ice cream tub. then place the tub on the ground near the back door. then let your new puppy go for a wander around the backyard...

On the topic of fuel smells, my r33 has a strong unburnt stink when i start it up, especially when cold. I was told it would be probably a leaky fuel line or a carbon canister that has been saturated with fuel due to tank being overfilled repeatedly. Any thoughts? And if it is the canister where would i get a replacement and how much are they worth?

Yup, got it checked out and you're right. Thhanks for the advice.

Riddle: What's sticky, gooey, clear and odourless? I've no idea but its dripping outta my car!! Anyone have any ideas what it could be? It seems to be accumulating under the oil pan. It's not any conventional car fluid that i can think of e.g. oil, transmission fluid brake fluid etc. and it doesn't drip constantly. Just today i noticed a couple of spots on the garage floor.

most auto sparkies can install for about 50 bucks - i spent the money and saved the headache, trying to locate the handbrake wiring and the o2 sensor was a bitch

Improving my GTS25T AUTO
serial_thrilla replied to serial_thrilla's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i cant find contact information for JATCO in japan but they have on their website a 5-SPEED Auto Transmission for Skylines. Unfortunately thats about all the info they give out. theres no links to a technical specs and not even an email address to ask them. who here knows about these transmissions and can they go in a R33 GTS? -
Improving my GTS25T AUTO
serial_thrilla replied to serial_thrilla's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
actually the R34 tiptronic is the kind of thing im looking for. I dont want to buy a 34 because... err.. i just bought this 33 but yeah is it possible to get something like the R34 trans installed in a R33?? Otherwise im not complaining about autos at all. If I wanted a manual right up i would have bought one. (I do long drives as well as driving through the CBD and clutches frustrate me in traffic) It would be nice to have just a little more control over the gears when needed. I'm looking into shifts kits, is JATCO the thing to look for?? -
Im just looking for some advice on upgrading auto trans. I'm driving a stock R33 SII (apart from the nifty nismo front ) I really dont know much about available options for automatics. What I would really like to fit would be a automatic trans with a sequential shift like the ones out on the new fords. I could always convert the car to manual but I feel that would be too much of a job.

Mines a 97 GTS25T and I have a similar thing, although 3 seconds is really a bit of an exaggeration. When I start the car in my garage first thing it fires up instantly, but if I've been driving around for a while yeah it takes about 1 - 1.5 seconds to actually ignite. I notice this even more so when ive been doing several short trips consecutively i.e. to the bank --> to the servo --> to the shops. I have no idea why this happens but I don't think its a problem. I'm probably going to get a bigger battery though!

are you willing to share it?? please please please!!!

Skyline(s)Inexpensive driving pleasure
serial_thrilla replied to Johnny B's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I have just become a proud owner of this baby. Cost me $19K on-road and no regrets whatsoever. The cons of a Skyline I can sum up with: bootspace! (can't fit my bodyboards in) otherwise the pros are endless. Heaps of power, good handling, looks awesome especially with the 400R front bar. And shit-easy to modify. Some of the parts are interchangeable with the VL (e.g. oil filters) My last car was a NA VL Commodore and before that a ST Celica and there's just no comparison. Note about the Celica however - AWESOME gearbox, never driven anything like it. I doubt I'll ever go back from a Skyline now, go the R34 when I'm done with this one! -
I can't read japanese, but the plate on my GTS25T says KR4. What colour is this?

HELP! I've just bought a GTS25T SII and I can't tune the radio??? The stations only go up to 90.0Mhz How do I get around this, or is this a Japanese standard with their radio tuners??

Looking to buy : ADVICE SOUGHT!!
serial_thrilla replied to serial_thrilla's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks for the advice. Despite the fact the car has minor accident history its' probably a good buy. Its' completely unmodded so I would take a gamble and say it hasn't been driven too hard in its relatively short on-road lifespan. -
Im looking at buying a 1997 GTS25T SII AUTO. The clock reads 37,000 and the entire car is perfectly clean and straight, inside and out. The stickers on the engine parts are even clean still. The whole car is unmodified except for a 400R Front. The asking price is $19000. Everything in the car is functional except that when I had it checked out by a 3rd party inspection, the report came back that - The front wheels are slightly and UNEVENLY worn (and still wearing) A nut from the Caster Bar is missing, making it loose The front steel bracing has been cut out, presumably to fit the front spoiler but the report concedes that this may make the car unroadworthy. The Catalytic Converter has been tampered with (gutted) There is some slight damage to the front framework. I don't believe that this car is worth $19000, despite its clean appearance and low kms. I was wondering what other people would consider a fair price for this car. I would insist that the seller also replaced the front tires, the Cat Con and have a full front alignment performed prior to purchase. Thanks!

hi im buying a 97 model GST25T auto transmission. Im planning to modify it as its all pretty standard under the bonnet but i was wondering how far should/could one take it considering its an auto trans or doesn't this matter? im talking about upgrading the turbo mainly. thanks
-
certainly i would be looking to sell the auto trans i was wondering maybe are conversions "kits" available for R33s? Not that its a problem to scope all the parts seperately but it would certainly make life easier for me. I kinda figured it would be more than $2000 the guy is keen to sell his car obviously!

Hi, im right in the process of purchasing a 1997 GTS25T. The car has been virtually undriven since it was complianced in 2002 with only 37,000 on the clock. I believe its a fairly reasonable deal at $19,000 the only downside is that its a 4-speed auto. The seller has suggested that a transmission conversion to a manual would be relatively easy and cost effective around $2000 he hinted. could anyone shed some light on this issue here? id really appreciate advice from experienced owners as im a first-time skyline owner.
