My Restoration
R32gts-t replied to Godzilla32's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Great effort mate, the finished product will definately be one of a kind, your project reminds me a bit of another one i'm keeping an eye on from the nissansilvia forum. The guy is basically rebuilding his s13 silvia from the ground up whilst modifying it at the same time, his theme is trying to make the car come across as factory as possible whilst being modified at the same time, here's a link if you are interested, http://www.sillbeer.com/ are you planning on reproducing a brand new standard r32 gtr ie fresh off the show room floor, or are you going to add some fun bits in during the build up. either way, good luck with it, i'm keen to see more. Greg -
black intercoolers with black piping and silicon work well, it's stock officer.
-
no, it's a very clean cut silver car.

S14 definately stays, i drilled dean and his old man that they have come too far to hand ball it off, dean knew this all along too, it's still an awesome machine. I have no idea about jamie, they have a fair few to choose from, you never know which one they'll take. Last presidents day i was lucky enough to hitch a ride around sandown in his dad's 993 turbo it's got approx 400rwkw 240kph back straight, harnesses have never felt better to hang from under braking . Edit: I now know what nomenclature means hahaha, mr vocab. for those that care: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/nomenclature

it's not really my place to say... Deano's old man was tired of teh nissan, and didn't want to track the 996..... i'll leave it up to your imagination, it's older, but still newish, has a german acsent and it breathes for itself (NA). very cool too. there is already a few people with their hands up for moustache rides, so i wouldn't base your decision on which event to go to around a whim of a ride. i'm fairly certain deano has permission to stretch the s14's legs too. so the eye candy at sandown this sunday will be fantasmiktoricle. If you decide to rock to my buller be sure to say hi to Jamie, he'll be blasting around up there with his old man.

jesus might be seen at sandown, hanging with a tall dark and extra handsome man, I think his name is all mighty Greg! AAHAHAHA, come to sandown you softess cockess, Deano might even get you a seat in a new toy ...can't promise anything though, as i'm calling shotgunssss
-
guys, don't jump the gun, i'm pretty sure there might be a clash, cup day weekend on the sunday there is a passenger day at sandown (presidents day, or something like that) which is twice as close and...well...you get to go in porka's

Blue S2 around malvern / glen iris FTW! awesome car
-
ah, tisk tisk, you guys need to witness a cossy close to redlinein a car like that then you will understand why they have such a cult following, although i'd definately go german for close to 100k, you can get fully prepped 964's and have change left over to cover your expenses for a year of racing, or even cheaper some older style rs replicas are priced closer to the 70k mark, both which would be pretty well matched to the little ford.
-
yeah but how cool is the idea of a tiny little hatch with a 6 speed box, if the box is genuinely worth 7k it'd want to be half decent and unbreakable with standard power... well maybe a chip and remus and intake...springs...swaybar..sticky tyres, see i'm at it again, cars aren't cool at all.
-
haha, yeah i have been browsing those forums for a while now, just reading up. that little 205 is sick: I have a couple of friends who have pugs or have had in the past, including a 93ish 205 gti series 3 limited edition with leather and a few factory options, he told me buyer beware, if things break on pugs they break properly and, for example you should budget approx 1200-1800 for a clutch (incl install) that is a lot of coin, i wouldn't spend that on my nissan let alone daily frog breath hatchback. i've still got a while to go before i will be buying so knowing me i'll change my mind another 10 times.

Can't fault him, free quality advice from a friendly guy.

ok, well it seems that there is an even spread amongst the people, some drive their skylines and some have less than adventurous daily weapons :S ... the legacy wagon is a cool and different idea, and the camira is well umm yeah..... Dane: I would normally steer clear of french build cars but the gti6 has grown and grown on me, i always liked the vr6 golfs but they are somewhat thirsty and getting a bit old compared to the pug, I know the seating position is a bit strange to say the least as i've driven the older 205gti and the newer 206gti both which are a pretty fun car to drive, i have to sell another car before i can go shopping though. keep the thread going, it seems like a winner

Correct me if i'm wrong but for one reason or another a lot of people have daily drive cars, well at least I think they do??? Whether it's because you like to tow your "real car" to those track days, or if it's the petrol bill at the end of the month that stops you driving your skyline (insert other imported/sports car here) Maybe it's because you don't want to clock up so many km's every week on your pride and joy commuting in traffic, maybe it's because you don't like driving to and from work with that guilty feeling that you are going to be reported to the epa or pulled up and have that boost controller spotted.... for whatever reason it is that you feel you need a more subtle car for your day to day ventures, what is it that you chose for your daily driver and why? I am looking into getting something in the next few months and i have been leaning towards a hot hatch of some description, namely a pug 306 gti-6 basically because it's a semi hoons car without the attention, they have leather and a sunroof, and a fairly punchable 2.0 donk, and they seem like they would be a reasonably comfortable and economical drive. down side to the pug is they have no towing capabilities what so ever. hmmmm fiddle dee dee.

Feeeee ewwww! nice footage.

these threads are bad for greg's wallet.

last year I went to watch a couple of friends in the sunday events of the vic dutton rally 2005. aside all of the eye candy this was probably in my top 5 cars for the day. http://www.pbase.com/duttonrally/car--11 keep in mind, this was amongst gt2's and similar standard cars etc. may have had something to do with the bloke who was steering it, i think it's his personal car too. mmmm cosworth goodness...
-
some events (ie dutton) require that the car is road registered, sp be certain thats the way you wish to go before you rush off and buy something. With the benefits of a track only car comes the added cost of a quality car trailer + somewhere to store the thing. every time you want work caried out on the vehicle you will need to load the bastard up and tow it somewhere, some workshops may not be to appreciative of you leaving the trailer with the car while work is carried out, also your daily car will need a fairly decent towing capacity, just be sure to think it all through, when it comes time to sell the car it is far easier to sell a car with road registration. good luck. Greg
