i think they are 30mm thick, with 28mm being minimum for road worthy requirements, so there is a fair bit of life still in them. i'm in Glen Iris.

Tyre Widths For 9 Inch Wheels...
R32gts-t replied to R32gts-t's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
QUOTE:Well my 215/45s have not popped off after grip track days, smashing the wheel on a gutter or light easterly breezes, so I think you will have no problems, but no, nobody makes a 225/40R17 R-tyre I have looked i understand normal road tyres will stay put on the wheels, even when given a hard time, i was more concerned that r rubber usually has a very stiff side wall and it may tend to be less happy to stretch onto a wider than suited wheel. thanks for the reply. i did searh, but found it hard to narrow down what i wanted to know, so search results were very broad. if anyone knows of an R rubber tyre that is made in 225/40R17 please point me in the right direction. -
I have r33gtr wheels on my s13. I am looking at buying some R rubber in the near future. I like the look and the reports i have read about the re55's. My main concern is that i currently have a 225 street tyre fitted and it has left me with next to no clearance on the suspension, thats with a 30mm bolt on spacer. i think i should be able to fit the 235 40 17 that the re55's are made in, i am just concerned that the width (235) is a little narrow for a 9 inch wide wheel. i wouldn't want the tyre to pop off the rim under hard cornering etc. also does anyone know of an R rubber tyre that comes in 225 40 17, and if that would be ok on a 9 inch wide wheel? i really like these wheels and would like to use them as my track day wheels, obviously this will only happen if i can get a tyre combo that will fit and be safe.

^^^ it's not that they will sit in, it's that they will hit the strut/spring, i have them on my s13, i have 3omm spacers all round, i could probably get away with no spacer on the rear but definatley needed on the front. 225 is about as wide as i can go with the spacers fitted, 215's may fit without the spacers... great looking wheels you should put a pic up.

audi s3, hoon car without the look of being a hoon. otherwise something like a subaru liberty gt...

I remember seeing that car in bowen st all the time a few years back, then i saw it at box hill brakes and exhausts... nice turbo setup and a good car all round. Anyway here's a few of my old skyline, kind of wish i never sold it, oh well was ages ago now...

very nice car mate, a gtr lip spoiler would top it off a treat, also the G banger on the rear view is all class

NateR31: You can find out more on the deca website, its the 5 day young drivers course, very beneficial for the young driver, ie L plater / fresh p plater. emergency braking on gravel/ashphalt, skid pan, plus a decent whack of helpful theoretical classroom based hazard perception, i did it with a mate when we were 17, just a couple of weeks away from getting our p's. prbably the best time to do it mainly because all of the important stuff from the course will remain in your head while your driving on your p's. (very beginner orientated, but EASILY worth the cost, should be double the price) saff_cossie: She has some experience in the family land rover disco auto, however she has stated she wants to learn in a manual car, she is coming up to 21 in oct and really just wants to get her licence whether or not she will drive everyday is unknown mostly because it is far cheaper for her to tram to work/uni because of parking etc, and she lives very close to both so it's hardly a long stint on dreaded public trans. she wants to get her licence as much aas i want her to, it's just that i'm going to try and guide her about it the best way possible, no harshness taken sarahB: your situation sounds almost identical, but the other way round, the racv bloke was a wang ker! she also got her L's at 16, just hasn't had to drive much at all, everyone else is also doing it phunky_monkey: Yeah she said he was really really helpful and by far the most approachable so far, didn't sound hungry for the cashola, his wife answered (i think it's the home phone) and he was having a cup of tea at the time, still had a decent chat even though he couldn't help her specifically, she is happy with the instructor he reccomended, the lesson is tomorrow at 2:30. just a warning to sau er's if your in the richmond vacinity it may be an idea to keep your car's off street level between the hours of 2:30 and 3:30 tomorrow

ok, problem solved! that was quick Jack sounds like a great guy (older bloke with lots of experience) but he doesn't do Richmond but he put us intouch with a quality instructor! Dane to the rescue!
-
cheers for that Dane, i'll look into it. anyone with feedback from their gf's? female instructors aswell, as the last male she had a lesson with obviously couldn't be arsed and was on his mobile twice during the lesson and dropped her off ten minutes early...
-
Ok, so my gf has been given untill the end of the year to get her P's. (by me) she lives in Richmond and public transport is her friend when it comes to uni/work. however she is of an age that she should have her licence, and her parents have offered to buy her a cool little ford focus, so it's up to me to make sure she gets quality driving lessons. it's been ages since i did anything like this, and when i did it was at deca in shep for a 5 dayer, this doesn't fit in with her schedule, so i'm after 1st hand experience, and i'd rather she actually learnt to drive rather than being taught to pass. ta, Greg

condolences to the family, and to the guys hanging it on him for driving the way he did etc etc bla bla bla, get off your high horse's. Greg.

R32 Gtr Wheels-realistic Price
R32gts-t replied to R32gts-t's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
wheels are now sold, thanks for the interest. -
when i bought my r32 gtst back in the day, i bought it from a place in chadstone called "Chapmans" near the corner of warrigal rd and dandenong rd, the actual workshop was in a side st called Neerim rd, he was an importer/mechanic/car salesman, i didn't have the best experience's with him on a personal level so just beware, i thnk the main reason was i was fairly young at the time. anyway, he had heaps of mercs in the place, and as it was a compliance centre i doubt all of them were aus delivered. i havent been passed for quite some time and i don't even know if their still operating, however you could try and get the number and give them a call, he should be able to answer your question.
-
i wouldn't be tooooo worried.... , he has come from a standard s14 turbo, to the new turbz which is pretty big and the car is very very different to drive, so i would expect he is going to be getting used to it more than trying to smash people... Oh and Dane, that day you saw the rs lib on city link, he had just come around the sweeper onto the bolty fairly swiftly then a few hundred meters down the rd lost all steering, the steering wheel was just free spinning in his hands, something to do with the rack, so so so lucky not to have caused a massive accident, the cause is yet to be determined, however to install extractors (which has recently been done) you need to muck around in the area that the rack is in along with other steering components. so do i need to have my name on a "spectators" list?
-
I'll be down for a look see, do i need to put my name on any list for spectating? Deano will be back in the s14, here's hoping for good weather and some fast times
