  1. hit up the BMW club haunted hills day yesterday with a few mates. some frustrating weather, but a great day regardless, with only 19 or 20 cars (mostly seriously expensive metal) we had plenty of runs, they setup the figure of 8 track hoping for less carnage.... a couple of unfortunate race prepped e30's needing new bodies, and a few other cars having close calls it made it eventful, nobody was injured so that is the main thing. a cheeky snap of my "racing machine" next to a gtr. then a group shot at the end of the day...
  2. my car has approx 210rwkw, the wheels and tyres worked well for me as i was able to post some fairly quick times (for my car) at a few deca days, plenty of grip in a straight line, and great handling characteristics due to the light wheels and stiff sidewall r rubber.
  3. i started with r32 gtr wheels (and i'm still a huge fan of 32gr wheels) for club day stuff, and can say they are probably going to be your lightest option, and they are extremely strong, 225 50 16 tyres are fairly easy to find, ku36 are cheap in that size, and if you call around you will be able to find used semi slick tyres. i have flared guards on my car and have recently decided to get 17 inch wheels to use on club day's only because there are wider sizes available. i'd like to start using 245-255 on the rear of the car to help with rear grip (and realistically help to mask the handling floors in the setup ).... i have my 32 gtr wheels up for sale (ideally i'd love to keep them for the sake of it but space doesn't permit) with some used semi slick rubber that has enough meat for a few days out. you're welcome to come and try them on, but, at the same time if you plan to increase the cars power you will probably decide to run wider rubber at some point down the track which inevitably will mean getting a set of 17's to suit http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/358182-r32-gtr-wheels/page__p__5723011__fromsearch__1#entry5723011

  5. Hi Guys, I've got a set of r32 gtr wheels up for grabs. They are in MINT condition for their age. The wheels have no fading in colour, and minimal gutter rash, there are a couple of tiny insignificant marks, but are among the cleanest i've seen. wheels come with Bridgestone Semi Slicks with plenty of meat for a few more club days. i'll upload better pictures asap, i've attached one for the sake of it, but we all know what they look like. local pickup is preferred, however if you are willing to arrange a courier then i'll assist. I'm looking for $850 thanks, greg- 0401 873 739

  9. he's a bit pushy coming out of the pits! another cool e30/tarmac drive (best after 30 seconds)
  10. i should really hit refresh before i post after sitting in a thread for an hour... e30's are the s13 of germany. anyway........
  11. i'd love to know what he spent...... such an epic car, i've heard they go well with late model m5 v10 engines
  12. meanwhile in estonia........ this was originally posted by someone else quite some time ago, i kept the link because i have a massive soft spot for e30 m3's, and i liked what i saw at the start of his restoration, after keeping tabs on this car for a while now it seems he's finished it, words don't do it justice in my opinion... i think from memory he bought it from a guy in the nurburgring car park after the original owner had just killed the motor at a drive day.... i can't read it, but the pictures tell me enough. http://opentrack.tqhq.ee/forum/viewtopic.php?tid=477&page=1
  13. bump
  14. Hi guys, i am looking for one, but am happy to buy a set of four (price pending) R33 gtr centre caps. please let me know via pm. thanks, greg-
  15. thanks for posting the pictures MacGillaZ, does anyone have any more? there were heaps of photographers snapping action shots all day but none have surfaced yet! i was looking forward to seeing a few.. anyway, as most have said, i enjoyed the straight track but would have liked to have at least 1, perhaps 2 more runs at it. however, i thought the figure of 8 was far more fun than the straight track. two very short vids of the starting grid: Dane's Sti Sam's Emo:
  16. i had a great time at HH, first time at the track as a driver, and we were lucky with the weather all day. i'm not sure about the majority of people, but the minority that i spoke to thought the track was super slippery, the wind was freezing. it's s tight technical track, that shows weakness in a cars handling very easily. i found i couldn't attack the straight track as much as i would have liked to as the car was squirming all over the place, and with 0 run off you have to be on the ball 110% of the time. i managed a 62.something on my last run of the straight track, but would have liked another 1-2 shots at the straight track because i was only just working out which side of the track i should be on at which point, and how hard to push it over the blind crests... the figure of 8 was a lot more fun for me, i felt the grip levels had improved, and my car preferred the way the track flowed on the figure of 8, better camber through a few of the corners, i think i finished with a 69 something on the figure of 8. the evo's, sti's and gtr ruled the day though, along with some very quick little mx-5's... bad luck to the few that had "offs" it really isn't a forgiving place to push it 110% and not pull it off. russ, casualties were evo x, and a couple of wrx's for me, a good starting point to build from and i'll definitely be back. if people spot links to picture galleries on other forums post them up here!
  17. if an s series car is an option, and NA cars are too pricey due to P platers, why not look at a cheap turbo one? this with a seat and some good rubber "could" be quite fun to drive... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-silvia-s13-s...3089?pt=AU_Cars (i don't know the seller, just figured some s13's can be had for as little as $5-7k and when stripped out can be quite light/quick/chuck able) one of the reasons i still have my s13 is that it's so cheap to maintain, even as day to day transport and for the odd club day. if it were for club days only it would be even cheaper. i have been epa'd once in the last 2.5 years of driving it daily, and that was for a noise test only (not hard to fix). and 2nd hand bits and pieces are so cheap, mainly because the kids that have these cars spend every cent they earn on them until they're broke, and then need to fire sale parts to buy lunch at uni... mx-5 isn't a bad idea, but the properly setup cars would owe the owners a pretty penny, as per mx5 prices on my105... if you could go the track only car from japan that would open the range up quite a bit, but as street reg is important so you can park it something local is goignt o be less hassle. mx-5 is more likely to be outside your house for longer as the s13 will probably get targeted more by thieves.
  18. my 2 cents... i think the beauty of an s13-s14 is the cost of replacement parts (entire body included), along with ongoing consumables. when you put those facts up against the fact they can be bloody quick in fairly basic trim (200-250rwkw), aswell as being challenging and rewarding and FUN to drive it's a great combination. i'm not saying gtr's aren't great track cars, i'm just not sure i could justify the extra expense, especially if your main reason/purpose for a track car is to have fun in it, if it's for competition then it's a different story, but if it's simply for having fun, i'm not sure the guy who is running around a few seconds quicker in his gtr is having any more "fun" than the guy running around a few seconds slower in his s chassis... not saying that gtr's win everything either, i've watched plenty of gtr's get overtaken by less powerful rwd cars at track days in vic. this car with some aero, a decent cage, a set of wider wheels and a different turbo setup would be incredible! http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=16244&latest=1
  19. i'd say good tyres helps the most, you can brake later...
  20. the old "if you didn't bugger up" if only... but that's what deca is all about and it's great fun. i was wrapped with some of the times considering the guy driving........ but a few little concentration lapse's is all it takes to throw a good time out the door, and as soon as you do slice some cones or wd there is always someone eagerly celebrating on the inside! birds: car is fairly mild, and still used as daily commuter, 200kw and some jdm tein super streets, it has a few basic suspension arms too, but nothing over the top. I need more grip!!!!
  21. well done to the winners! dane- blistering pace in your road car! some cracking times amongst the field aswell, which shows quite a few people capable of knocking on the top of the table... perhaps we should look at banning rear engine cars? some great pictures from various people as always. best fun i've had in my car to date!
  22. off topic puts on flame suit... pretty sure a factory standard dc2 r would match or even beat most factory standard rwd skylines at a circuit day.
  23. posting this in here because I know you're all motorsport tragics, and are seemingly not biased to one make or model, a friend emailed the link to me, he didn't have an explanation as to why pickles have all of this available at once, but some very nice gear none the less!!!!! edit: it appears they are having their muscle car auction... http://www.pickles.com.au/cars/listing/LIS...aleid-103001773 namely the vs gts-r serial number 001 with 79kms on it! also the HRT 427... the walkinshaw, and turbo XE... the list goes on!
  24. i'm not sure if you still allow this, if possible could entries: 5 Sam Zimber Evo6.5 10 Jamie Lovett 911RS 12 Greg Calmer S13 17 Dean Taylor 911 be grouped together?
  25. not sure how i missed this- your car looks amazing! such a cool r32, with loads of history too. and the wing is very cool, everything about it looks mint, and in my opinion it will look better sitting on some wide 17's. keep it up!
