    Yeah Dan I am interested in the tune.

    As Andrew correctly points out Apexi base maps are based on standard cars using standard Japanese fuel which starts at 100RON.

    Generally the time taken to do the tune will depend on how much the car varies from standard and what the tuner knows about the mods, many imports have unknown modifications which of course mean the tuner has to spend more time analysing the responses from the car as each adjustment is made.

    Any tune is a compromise because a street driven car operates under such a wide range of conditions - chuck in additional variables that we enthusiasts subject our cars to such as a day at the skid pan - 400m dash - track day - nasho run and you would really need to go to a Motec ECU or similar and cart around a laptop with data for ALL the different applications if you expect to get close to maximising the cars performance everywhere.

    Dyno tuning itself will never simulate actual driving conditions.

    Carefully consider where you want your car to give it peak and make sure whoever you get to tune your car knows this. If you want it to be spot on for track days, then expect it to use extra fuel and not burn it all when driven on the road, like wise if it is tuned for the road it may ping when driven hard on the circuit or strip.

    Ric Shaw is located at 35 Parramatta Rd Five Dock NSW. If you know where E & M Unique Motors is then Ric is back up the hill about 100m and there is a pub opposite E & M so you won't need cards - just someone to pick you and your car up at the end of the day.

    They have days where they hire tracks and go testing - have been to a Wakefield day with them - Ric was happy to come out a give pointers - and the rule was that all race cars that went had to have a passenger seat fitted and be prepared to take plebs for rides - good day that was!

    Oh franks - they have a steep drive into their workshop, if you go see them double check they can get your car in - it looks pretty low with that 400r bar.

    speak to Peter, these guys have a mother company in NZ where they are keen on Mines ecu's so he may be able to advise. They were going to install a dyno and bring their tuner over once a month.

    he knows Skylines and Power FC's - his wifes Skyline has an fc and flowed turbo and gives 240kw on his dyno. He charged me $250 to tune mine from scratch and I got 180kw with a screwed engine (since been rebuilt).

    C&V charged $300 and I had to take the car back cause of uneven idle and knock sensor light coming on. Car runs better but has a slight backfire (timing?) and on their dyno I got 162kw with the new engine. (I know each dyno reads different)

    Yep I'm going to the Hunter but I don't know whether I will cruise with you all - is the meet point in the valley Cessnock Maccas? (What happened to the days when PUBS were used as landmarks and meeting places.)

    Thought I might head to the Mount View region first - some of my favs are here...................

    then slowly cruise through some of the boutique cellars in the Cessnock area................

    next - attempt the odd "sellect" door in the Lovedale/North Rothbury district before heading to Branxton for a few cleansing ales and a bed for the night...............

    That leaves Sunday for a leisurely wander around Pokolbin - out to Broke (which I will be by then) and the spendour of the Putty road with minimal traffic and (hopefully) the same amount of blue checked 5hitboxes.
