  1. I lease an R32 VW which I drive every day, it covers @ 35,000km per year. My Skyline comes out occasionally for track days and has done less than 1,500km in the last 12 months - obviously not enough track days happening!
  2. EFT done!
  3. Got my letter from the DECC today to confirm the car passed.
  4. IN!! This will be a bit of a challenge considering the Sydney Food and Wine show is on Friday. Can I bring 2 cars?
  5. It all sorted thanks Duncan and reregistered yesterday. I have no plans to change it back, the intercooler caused the car to hesitate and the exhaust was to way to loud anyway (99db) so the car is more 'driveable' now. I don't expect much change to lap times due to this, however I do expect the new diff to drive some improvement so to speak.
  6. In short - I was told by the guy that did my noise test that if you get the emmissions test at the RTA and the car passes with the intercooler on it, there is then an RTA certification to verify it complies with the ADR standard. We all have different mods and in my case I decided that it would be easier for me to change the intercooler in order to avoid the test and the most likely outcome of removing a bunch of other stuff that would have affected the emissions. My intercooler plumbed into the original piping and it only took 1.5 hours to remove it and put the original back on, start to finish. Easier than removing the other mods. If you havent received a notice or been defected leave it on. If you do get a notice then assess what other mods you have that may be detected at the emissions test and make your call then.
  7. I just went through all this last week. I recieved a notice in the mail that I had 3 weeks to have my car checked at an approved DECC station. (one at Granville, one at Campeltown) My car was apparently reported by an DECC officer who made the assessment by looking at the car that it may exceed noise limits. (5inch canon) I had it tested by my local exhaust shop where it recorded 99db. The limit is 90db at 4800rpm. The shop made me up a nice quiet cat back system that came in at 87db while I waited. At the noise test the mechanic took photos of the airbox, exhaust and intercooler. As the intercooler was not standard my options were to have it tested by the RTA emissions people or return it to standard. I figured that it was easier to put the standard intercooler back on than have the test done and run the risk of having to remove boost controllers, APEXi and the like. Pain in the backside considering I seldom drive the car but it is actually nicer to drive with the standard intercooler (less hesitation) and I can actually hear the radio now when I'm driving. BTW I took my car to the Campbelltown testing place after speaking to the dropkicks at Granville. The Campbelltown bloke was really helpful despite having to ensure compliance. Details can be viewed here http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/noise/vehiclenoise.htm
  8. Adam, I have a S11 airbag wheel and for $40 you can keep it. When do you need it by - I have to come up to Newcastle in the next two weeks for work.
  9. Yeah - I missed having someone to have a couple with at lunch time!
  10. It was nice and quiet at Oran Park today, 3 groups X 15 minute sessions, only five of us in the 'street car' group. I had a good chance to try out my new diff and had pretty much had enough by 2.30 so I called it beer o'clock.

It appears that the fuel companies have developed a habit of putting the 'out of order' tags on their premium pumps on Tuesdays (lower price days). There has been a fair bit of press about this and I heard an interview on the way home describing how the fuel companies order the outlets to do this and cut off supply if they go against the order. It will be interesting to see if the supply of 98 comes good now the price is up. Post up your observations!!
  12. New diff isn't fitted till the following weekend - after that - I'm in!
  13. Condolences to the familys..... Never one to endorse 'street racing' - however similar to the St Marys incident that received so much media - I have always believed that if you turn across the path of oncoming traffic you are in the wrong... Sticker or no sticker...
  14. These would be just the thing for my Vee Dubya! I'll swap you a schooner for 'em..... You know you want it....
  15. Many thanks to Adam for organising and to all the 'helpers' on the day. It was great to be able to take passengers again! Credit to all drivers, the track was not user friendly, yet there were no serious offs. I have to mention Dave, my adopted track newbie for the day, well done Dave, you progressed really well - I look forward to seeing you at the next track day!
  16. Yep - I am planning to wait for you all at the Campbelltown on ramp @ 0630.
  17. After their 'tune' the car was pinging excessively during normal driving, which as you know can kill an engine - I took the car back to them two more times for no further improvement. (and no refund) I live in the Blue Mountains so obviously this was a huge inconvenience. I eventually took it to Ric Shaw who got running fine. The last tune I had was Bel Garage (different car) and I was impressed with them. They do a road tune then finesse it on the dyno depending on what application you want it tuned for. It is actually important that you decide what your application is and let the tunner know - if you get the car tuned for drags don't expect it to be happy in the traffic. From the feedback on the forum over the past couple of years it seems CRD, the Hitman or Unigroup are the go. i hpe i hve put ths in trms u kan undrstand
  18. I used them once for PFC tune....... Never again.
  19. Count me in - as an elder I guess
  20. Easy fixed Paul.... I'm off the Qld next week, car swap should fix your problem, it will help with the vee dub too..... 5850km..... haven't had it a month yet.

  24. This sounds interesting. Are LS2, extinguisher, triangle required? PM sent
  25. You are correct, a factory turbo would have guages in the dash. So - its either a non turbo or the dealer has been to lazy to upload photos of the actual car. I guess dealers can be misleading 5hits eh?....... What about this..... http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=7672 I know it an auto but it is an 8 speed........ cheap on insurance..... unique....... sunroof....... grade 4.5....... aftermarket alloys......
