  1. After 100K miles, the synchros in my V35 are not quite up to there old job and a clean change is becoming a challenge. So my query is this: A new box (because of the Oz Peso) is nearly $4K, secondhand starts around $1700 and getting a quote on a rebuild is proving adventurous, so a straw poll to see what you guys would do here. i am even open to names of whomever would do a good rebuild. What do you all think?? Craig
  2. Reformat USB to fat16. That was more common when the car was built
  3. Sadly, it seems my 03 has succumbed to the bearing/synchro failures we read about but hope never happens. So, 2 questions: 1. I am reading that a CD009 is the box to get. Straight swap or are there some parts I will need to make it fit? ? 2. Who has these in Aus? Or do I attack the net, Thanks for any help you may offer here.
  4. Trutrack were good as claimed earlier, although it really felt like a goldleaf service at invoice time. Car had been set up with 2mm toe all round and that was as Sonici prediced. After bringing it all back to about 1mm at each corner and deciding the shockies had hammer, it feels so much better. Would love to go further with performance bits etc but my V35 is a DD and having previously track tuned a DD to the point that it was not good on the road, standard she will stay.
  5. All viable questions and have been through those first. Last aligner did not issue a sheet and when asked, said they did not record it at the time so not available. Tyres and suspension are all standard spec although the wheels are aftermarket. And play is coming from the front not the rear. Car has not been crashed except for a roo in the front panel which went over the car. I will take onboard the comments about price and will get quotes before the job. Will let you know what is found.
  6. My V35 is very skittish at the moment and following every contour in the road. I recently had an alignment done but feel that there may be play in the steering that may needed attention first. Trouble is, that unless the mechanic gives a hoot, they just spanner some angles in and take your money. I will give Trutrack a Burl and see what happens. Thank you! :-)
  7. As always, sorry if this has been covered but be blowed if I could find it. Looking for a company that actually gives a shit about doing a good front end alignment. Been to several places and walked out on most and still looking for a good one. Must be a good one or 2 somewhere! Cheers
  8. Local AC bloke at Pansino Radiators found a rooted flow control valve so part is ordered and waiting for the slow boat to arrive.
  9. Hi guys My V35 has developed an aversion to retaining AC gas in the system. While I have it booked into Pansino next week, I was wondering if there were any V series peculiar issues that I should pay attention to. Thanks in advance
  10. Blessings are in small mercies. Thank you.
  11. Finally have my V back but oh so many issues. Have a pick list of paint I need fixing as well as others. And a stuffed window master panel. Honestly thought today would be one of joy not intense dejection.
  12. NORMA are famous for bumping premiums and hoping you just pay up without noticing. Works with commercial entities more than private though. Also, using the law of averages to extreme, the longer you go without an accident means one is coming sooner, so premiums creep up to entice you to shift your business for when you have to claim.
  13. And sorry about the spelling - autocorrect took over. Need to check it first
  14. Thanks Koby Latest thus morning (they called me) is firm for next Tuesday. We will see!
  15. Well, that makes me feel even better! Betcha can't guess what my first call will Tuesday morning!
  16. No. Guys at panelbeaters sat something on it. And now all I need is that damned headlight because everything else is done. Aaarrgghhh!

  18. Car is finally painted and awaiting the aforementioned headlight. Pity that in these many weeks, they failed to notice the huge creases and dips in the roof turret. When I pointed that out to them, they were very surprised indeed. The Painless Dent Removal guy was there and had a look saying that something heavy had been placed on the roof to cause that damage, not just a bump. And my photos bear him out too.
  19. What head unit do you have there?? Looks interesting.
  20. Well, the world turns and time marches onward. Seems Nissan Japan has done its bit and the headlights are made and we should land it Sydney on Thurs, hopefully here Friday or Monday. Not holding my breath though. Been here too many times.
  21. Hey Chris RACV has pissed us around for a week and only after I phoned on Friday (twice) did we get any action on them giving authority for the new light. Problem is now they are going straight Nissan with the hope that will make it somewhat more expedient than your estimate. I pointed out that we could have done this 6 weeks ago and saved not only time off the road but also some stupid stuffing around with second-hand lamps. Not happy Jan. And they know it!
  22. Good to see that too - this walking lark has knobs on it! :-)
  23. And Chris - approaching 5 figures by now I expect
  24. So the saga is on-going. Still off the road and now Chris has been roped in for the missing parts (at least I hope he has) Have passed on the above list to the repairer for his betterment! Cheers guys :-)
