mounting 044 bosch in R32 GTR (in tank)
MidnightGTR replied to williamsf1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I dunno man, but if your so called mechanics cant even fit the fuel pump id be going elsewhere myself. Im no mechanic myself, i know they arent straight fit but my mechanic had no problem mounting it, might be a little bit of working out to do but thats what your paying them for. -
waste their time? isnt that what their day consists of anyway?
-
thanks champs, ill swap them next week and see how it goes. I hope its just one of them so the turbos dont have to come out. Can I buy just those 4 gaskets or do I have to buy the whole set from nissan? also will the leak cause any damage or is it still ok to go boosting it a little for normal driving?
-
it sounds like a ghost comin from my engine bay. can really only hear it from 2000-3000 revs under load, even coming off load from about 5000revs you cant hear it again till it comes down to 3000 or so again. Im guessing its one of the turbo gaskets? maybe to the manifold. Surly someone knows what it is. Car still drives fine and comes on boost fine.
-
argghhh. hope its not one of the gaskets. car still runs fine, it will make boost but seems to be down a little bit on power. the noise also seems to go away after around 3000rpm, sort of when the turbos really start spooling. most likely one of the turbo gaskets? would it be a head gasket? what are the symptoms of that?
-
Well not actually the engine itself. Last night I went to adjust the boost a little on my little boost controller (the one mark sells on here) and split the hose. Thought no worries. Replaced the hose but when I took the car for a drive it made a weird "whurling" type noise with any ammount of boost pressure. To me sorta sounds like a air leak but not sure< is that what noise it would make if a cooler hose blew off? Even with the hose removed it still makes the same noise. I thought I might have tore a little hole in one of the pipes from the afm to the turbos but they all seem ok, removed the clamps etc and checked under there. Anyone know what it could be?

I think gtr's can be the luck of the draw. Depends how long you look for one and how well you treat it / spend money on maintaining it first. Ive had my 33gtr prob over 18months now and never had a problem, but ive always tried to keep it serviced and running well before spending anything on it, its taken a long time and alot of money, but now I have a fairly quick and reliable gtr. Dont buy one that looks dodge and think "ohhh maybe it will be ok"

exactly. I have one of these on my GTR and it works magically. I had a avcr but was having problems tuning it so thought Id just give one of these a try seein how cheap they are anyway. swapped the avcr solenoid for this (plumbing is all the same) and now it runs between 1.28 and 1.33bar peak on average (as the avcr is still monitering boost, just not controlling it) which is around 18.5psi-19.5psi roughly, which is close enough for me for a $30 boost controller that can get boost that accurate and hold it. And as they say about the ball not letting any pressure through till its got the right level is true as boost hits really hard now, thank god for 4wd -

its funny how when you say firm people still try get them for less. if you were serious I dont think paying $10 postage would be that difficult for you -
actually I am having troubles occasionally with my car hunting on idle and other minor things and thought they may have been leaking, hence why I changed them and some other minor things. Turns out they wernt, but you get that

I just had a single trust type-s (old purple ones they dont sell anymore) put on venting to atmo and it works fine, doesnt stall or anything. I'd be looking at the way its set up. Just make sure you block up where the factory system plumbs back into the intake

if it doesnt it wouldnt be hard to get someone to make an adapter, you could prob even go into autobarn and buy one, think they sell adapters off shelf? -

MidnightGTR replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Depends on what EBC you use and how well its tuned. Most EBC's really need to be tuned properly to work well. The main advantage of an EBC is adjustable accurate boost control. I had an avcr that wasnt working too well (wasnt tuned either though) and just bought one of these for testing, it does indeed work a treat. I run 1.3bar and it builds boost nice and quick and holds it well too. -
I was quoted $100 to get flanges put either side of my cat so I can swap it to a straight through one for track days as someone above mentioned. He said the flanges would be about $60 and whatever labour, they are a cheap workshop though but that should give you an idea on price.

Yeah mate. Sorry forgot to mention all parts off my 33 GTR. all good working condition obviously. Shoot us a email and we'll sort something out for during the week if you want me to meet you somewhere. Busy today being mothers day and all -
Just found this stuff in my cupboard still. I dont have any other stock parts airbox etc so dont ask Standard cam gears $100 pair. Standard front pipes $100 pair. Standard dump pipes $100 pair. No offers, im in brisbane southside if you want to pickup. Can post interstate at buyers expense, would only be a few $ as its all small and light. Sorry I dont have any pics. Thanks Brett [email protected]

044 pump in a 32 GTR..in tank
MidnightGTR replied to ricknismo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
040 is a internal pump and will most likely be enough for your car. I used to have trouble starting it sometimes, it would always start cold but when it had warmed up sometimes would take a few times trying to turn over to get some fuel into it. I had a relay fitted up now and it starts 9/10 times, and if it doesnt then it will the next time. -

MidnightGTR replied to ricknismo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah I got a 044 intank in my GTR, it'll fit with some modifying. I have standard rail and regulator at the moment and im having some troubles, may or may not be the regulator, but it probably wouldnt hurt to have one.
