ok ill forget the plenum, do the covers need sanding back and primed like u mentioned above, or was that just for the plenum

Sorry dood, I didnt think my other rocker cover post went through so I made this one instead, didnt realise it took so long for threads to come up.

Sorry to ask the question everyone else has been asking, but mine seems a bit different. Under light acceleration the car seems to blow a bit of white smoke, but when you accelerate hard and prob a bit after full boost (around 5000rpm or so) a big black ball of smoke comes out the back (just 1) like a cloud and then theres no more. The car seems to still have its power (ran 13.2, stock 33 gtr), apart from that the only noise I started getting from the engine was a slight ticking when the car was first started in cold after an oil change, but was told this is just because of the thin oil (motul 4100 turbolight) Do you think its an engine problem, or just running rich in top end and will be sorted with some tuning? I have a PFC but ive been waiting till after I get the new turbos and other pieces on to get it tuned.

Im looking at painting my rocker covers soon and would like to do them that gold colour that you see a few GTR's with (im assuming the top secret gold) Anyone know where in brisbane I can buy it? or should I just try getting some mixed somehow.

I'll be getting some new parts installed soon (turbos, cam gears) etc and I was thinking while most of it will be apart how hard is it to paint the rocker cover and maybe the plenum? I can get the gear needed easily enough (compresser/spray gun), but what do I have to do to each piece to prepare for painting. Is there any protective under/overcoat I have to apply to the paint to stop it cracking/bubbling from the engine bay heat? and do I have to sand back either items (i guess the cover probably doesnt, but the plenum would yeah?) Is it a big job to remove the plenum/covers? is it something time consuming and how much would be max I should be charged for the workshop to do it (as I dont trust myself to try) 1 last question, is there anywhere in Brisbane where I could buy the "top secret gold" colour? maybe even buy interstate? Thanks in advance.

Oh what are the Q45's from? Ive never heard of them before... can they be sourced second hand or a bit harder to find?

Thanks for that info guys So I would be better off going to rb20 afm's then sticking with the factory ones. Then if i ever maxed em out I could go to the Z32

Yeah I think I read in a magazine or two that they were supposed to be 80mm, not to worry. thanks anyway

Forgot to mention the mods, I got a PFC and HKS 2540's and a few other little pieces going on soon.

Heyas Just wondering are Rb20 80mm AFM's as good of an upgrade as Z32 ones or would I be wasting my time? I understand they are both 80mm but I dont understand how the voltages work, I think the rb20 have a lower voltage or something? Just asking as rb20 AFM's seem to be alot cheaper then Z32 ones. On the weekend I thought id do a quick service on my car, I changed the oil and fuel filter (forgot to change the oil filter when it was empty, but more on that later) so left the oil filter in tact. First thing I noticed is that the oil pressure guage was moving for once, im sure its only ever just around half way no matter what the RPM was sitting at, but now it moves with the revs as it should, what would make it do this suddenly? not that im worried, just curious Second can I change the oil filter without fear of it draining all the oil in the engine? im assuming because its on the side it should be ok, but i thought id check before I accidently let out 4.5l of new motul oil onto my driveway and one last thing the aircon/fans have stopped working, only time any air comes though is when its on 18deg and the car is moving, but stationary or try turning the heat up and it nothing will happen. What could be the cause of this? need regassing or a new thermostat maybe? Any help is grately appreciated

Ah ok thanks, least now I know how its done. Because subzero would charge me a fortune and this guy has done the majority of the work on my other cars.

HKS is the green/yellow mesh like stuff yeah? My friend has one on his car, he just took the mesh out and threw it in the wash said it worked wonders, sounds abit louder now too. Either that or just hose it from the inside out. Just make sure you leave it to dry fully before you put on back in your car

Heyas. How much work is involved in fitting a pair of HKS 2540's to a stock 33 GTR engine? I thought it would just be getting underneath the car and start pulling off the exhaust and the rear turbo till you can get to them. One guy I took it too said he would have to remove a whole heap of shit, maybe even one of the engine mounts to tip the engine to one side to get to them. He does know his stuff and I trust him, just he has never done any work on a GTR before, also whats the max I should be paying to get them fitted, He quoted around $400, does this sound fair?

why only 10 units? im sure the guy wouldnt mind selling more then 10. if a spot becomes available anyway ill take one, whats the name of the place cause even if I had to pay $450 for one it sounds like a good price, you can pm me if u like

if its stock theres nothing wrong with 13.3, thats all mine did stock, but that was a 8000rpm launch too and not everyone likes to launch it at redline, 180kw at the wheels prob sounds about right too?
