  1. I just thought of a classic example of this. The Shelby Cobra. Theres only a handful of real ones left yet every single "replica" Shelby Cobra has all the factory badges in all the factory places. Theyre not being "sold" as it were as original Shelby Cobras but as Shelby Cobra replicas. Surely a replica has the right to "replicate" the original it is replicating by using the same parts to become a replica. I also know of a GTS-t that was turned into a GT-R that has won Best GTR-R in a Show & Shine.
  2. I would personally never put a GT-R badge on a GTS-t - I dont even agree with painting a car a non factory colour - but just because I wouldnt doesnt give me the right to stop someone else. The car manufactures even do it themselves - The Honda Accord & Rover Vitesse were exactly the same car made at the Honda Factory yet some were badged Honda & some were badged Rover & the Ford Laser & Mazda 323 were exacttly the same car made at Mazda with some badged Ford & some badged Mazda. It all comes down to honesty & representing it truthfully ... ...
  3. I think theres two sides to this discussion. Although it makes no sense whatsoever to say put a GT-R badge on a GTS-t if thats what you want to do you should be free to do so & even leaving it on when selling it is again something that makes no sense but if thats what you want to do you should be free to do so. The only thing i would strongly protest about is if you did have a GTS-t with GT-R badge on it & you were selling the car as a GT-R. As long as youre representing the car as a GTS-t with a GT-R badge on it i dont see a problem. It certainly makes no sense to do it but as long as youre honest about it youre not doing anything wrong. The new owner will customize it to his/her liking anyway.
  4. The other highlight that deserves its own post is the winner of "BEST R32 GT-R - 20TH ANNIVERSARY 1989 - 2009" A well deserved 1st place in no uncertain terms. A lot of projects of the magnitude that you've undertaken can easily suffer from the build taking on a life of its own with well thought out plans somehow shooting off in all manner of directions which will create all sorts of headaches as the continuity of the overall "aesthetic" if not continually addressed and brought back into line will suffer and hence so will the ultimate product. The ability to recognise that this is happening is fairly straightforward - the ability to address it "correctly" as its happening and to "bridge" it each time it happens adopting a "linear" mind set is not. You have clearly "addressed correctly" every component of the build of the project because it all works and looks right. So much so sometimes that the untrained eye will not appreciate all the work because the finished project looks so good and works so well that a sense of "no effort" often is mistakenly adopted. As i myself know only too well it can take dozens of hours to get a particular part or pairing of parts to look like hardly any time at all was spent. You mentioned above that you "have put a lot of work into the car." That is the understatement of the century !! - along with that work you put in you put in "ability, talent & reason" which are the attributes required to adopt and stay true to that ever important linear mind set. Not everyone can do that or should i say not everyone can do that to the level that you have expressed. Its a talent that youve been fortunate enough to be able to recognise, adopt, use & refine that benefits us all !! - something to be very very proud of indeed ! CONGRATULATIONS on an inspired build - it is 1st class in every category - truly remarkable - & as far as having something to show for it its not the trophy on your mantle piece the trophy is parked in your garage Cheers Malcolm
  5. I had a top day ... a great venue being in the shade with open sides ... a big thankyou to Terry Ashwood & team for trailering the R32 GT-R Windfield Race Car all the way down from Queensland - thats a huge effort & very generous gesture indeed ... ... Really nice for me to see that the "BLING" era is almost over with so many cars being prepped with "drivability - reliability - performance" in mind rather then "head unit - widescreen - mp3" ... ... Loved the RC cars ... the KPGC10 actually had Watanabe wheels - siiiiiick !! ... ... Highlights of the day: Windfield car - R33 GT-R LM Limited - Raspberry Slushie - meeting Johnny aka GTR-32U - getting a trophy - wow! Disappointment of the day: Witness 2 entrants wilfully abandon criteria under which their New South Wales Drivers Licences & Comprehensive Insurance Policies remain validated by engaging their vehicles in an inappropriate manner in an uncontrolled environment. "A member of my family was killed when she was only 10 years old by a MORON showing off to his mates in a public carpark" - youre both idiots !! A big thankyou to the principal organisers of the Show & Shine & to everyone who participated & showed up ... ...

  19. R33 2500R GT-X 1 PROMOTING: R33 GT-R RACING AT LE MANS 24HR 1995/96 ... here is a few more photos of my R33 SKYLINE ... along with a few of the project documents from 1994/95 that i have been asked to post ... it has been in storage for the past 18 months up until a few weeks ago ... i will be attending the upcoming Skylines Australia Show & Shine in December to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the R32 GT-R & look forward to catching up with some familiar faces that i haven't seen for a while ... ... ever since the car made its controversial appearance in these forums 2 years ago i have had constant correspondence from one gentleman keen to purchase it ... ... i have had it now nearly 8 years and cannot yet part with it ... ... ... sorry its NOT FOR SALE ... ... ... see you at the Show & Shine ... cheers malcolm ... ...
  20. ... Hi ... try Famous Car Insurance on 1300886029 ... they have a special division for modded imports ... if you can substaniate the cars replacement value with receipts & photos they will most likely insure it at an "agreed" value ... just bear in mind the more you go for the higher your premium & excess may be ... hope this helps ... ...
  21. ... good post ... fair enough ... well said ... ...
  22. ... yeah the jobs great ... when you see those early V12 Ferraris up close you really appreciate the level of craftmanship ... no production lines for those early cars ... they were "entirely" hand built ... all the guards/panels hand rolled & beaten into shape ... crazy stuff ! ... ... ... its a shame that cars like Ferraris get labelled as "poser cars" ... there is the odd "flash with my cash" owner that you see out & about & he is probably the reason for the label ... from my experience 99.99% of all Ferrari owners are car enthusiasts who appreciate motor sport, engineering, style, heritage & quality ... youll never see them posing in their cars driving around town ... but you will definatley see them thrashing the living daylights out them on a track ... ... & as for the ladies ... id hate to think any woman would go out with a guy because of what car he drove ... & hate even more any guy who would go out with girl because she like his car ... rather than him ... ...
  23. ... Exactly ! ... you're spot on ! ... that is a fair "matching" for comparison ... ... ... (the same reason why Porsche was one of the first to place an order for 2 R35's so they could drive one and pull the other one apart to see what made it tick) ... ...
  24. ... i think thats what we were doing ... i may have confused the issue by bringing in the classic Ferraris - sorry ... but i still dont think an all wheel drive car should be put up against a rear wheel drive car ... theyre just in different "competition" categories ... the R32 proved that at Bathurst 20 years ago in no uncertain terms .... ...
