Hi there Nissan actually pulled out of Motor Racing for a time in 1973 during the world wide oil crisis and the KPGC-110 GT-R's production & can you believe almost sold it in Australia but pulled it from world wide release / production selling a total of only 197 cars "to order" in Japan from specialty licensed performance outlets during the days before Nismo. Cheers malcolm

Hi there Thankyou for your your post i appreciate it I am proud of it. Cheers malcolm

Hi there I was never comparing it to a - GTHO PHASE3 - BATHURST MONARO - DINO FERRARI - HRT 427 - TOYOTA 2000 SPORTS - FORD GT40-............ Just to itself in mint condition as it is today - as "i" believe if that is the case it "against what it is worth today" will appreciate Cheers malcolm

Hi there Yeah ! - Dean Summers from HPI mag did a fantastic job and to have a whole disc of pics to take home is unbelievable Not saying that even without the studio lights it still looks pretty "schmick" ! Cheers malcolm
-
Hi there No one is classifying it as anything other than a GTS25t - it was when it was made - was during its involvement - & still is today - it is not a GTX-1 2500R as one was never made however it is the only car that can genuinely continue to carry that theme. It would be inaccurate otherwise. It was what it was & is what is. I cant deviate from that. Cheers malcolm

Hi there Adam The thing here i believe is that car manufacturers are highly competitive sensitive creatures , no ones more than the japanese and these ideas that dont get the green light are really viewed as failures to them. Well perhaps not true failures as they still might have offered valuable information to be used at a later time. Theyd have thousands of conceptual ideas in the process of developing cars. They are only ever going to be interested in broadcasting the ones that are given the green light as they are the ones thatll keep them in business. Thanks for your post Cheers malcolm

Hi there Johnny Your input is appreciated - thanks We will get that drive in soon ! Cheers malcolm

Hi there ....& with a little help from my friends !! Cheers malcolm

Hi there The car is in good shape & the pics were taken for free by High Performance Imports magazine last year Cheers malcolm

Hi there The only reason this whole thing started was that i was asked by an SAU member if i wouldnt mind posting up ALL the pics that Dean Summers the photographer from High Performance Imports took last year. So thats what i did, then i started to get people asking "how much did i pay for it " & "whats it worth" knowing that its in good nick with low kay's but not really knowing what its "buyers price" could / would or might be i thought why not ask the same question back and see what people think as all i have is an insurance assessors appraisal. Im not talking my car up but if youve not spent a good half hour checking it out its hard to make an accurate judgement. It was beyond belief before i bought it ive just maintained that level. It is truely still like a new car like its been in some kind of time warp ! Ive never stated what it would be worth other than "if" its kept in "mint" condition with low kay's that in the future it will appreciate in value.Never was i comparing its value to any other car just comparing its value now to its value in the future which i believe will go up. AdamsR33 is right its so not a big deal about it being taken from the production line as it happens all the time. What "i" found interesting (and i couldnt give a flying f--k ! who doesnt) was the "concept" behind its involvement. It doesnt bother me in the slightest that nothing ever happened regarding a finished product. It was what it was and is what it is. We rarely get a glimpse of the automotive ideas that dont make it which would be many many times more than the the ones that actually do & to have the actual car to be used in realising this and to be able to apply those ideas to it "i" (& once again couldnt give a flying f--k who doesnt) find interesting.Tthats all its ever been to me is an interest. What AMAZES me is peoples unwillingness to simply let that happen. As far as secrets i have none. As i stated in an earlier post "when a complete stranger walks up to me and asks/orders me to do something the chance of me viewing it in a positive light is zero - trust between aquaintences is a two way street that is offered and accepted equally by both parties over time" ...and besides if i told you you have an unfair advantage in the guessing competition Cheers malcolm [edit] - I have to totally and 100% disagree about this particular cars rarity. Sure we all know that there are 10's of thousands of identical ones just like it. But how many of those got chosen as prototypes, stamped & badged (effectively noted) as part of the process by which change and evolution between models is achieved. Historically its important because it happened wether it made production or won a race is after the fact anyway. In a way though the other 2 prototypes which arent with us anymore both being crushed are even rarer as theyre gone forever. Id love to be a fly on the wall reading this thread had the GTX-1 2500R gone into even limited production just for homologation....... .......the IMPORTANT THING to NOTE would be ONLY the COMMENTS WOULD CHANGE - but NOT THE CAR !!

Hi there Thankyou for your imput i appreciate it. I personally dont compare GT-R's to GTST's. I dont see one as being better than the other. They are both excellent in their own right and all together different motoring experiences from each other. Im my opinion to have a mint GTST is every bit as good as having a mint KPGC-10 GT-R or a mint R35 GT-R. 3 excellent and very different cars taken from over 3 decades of motoring. Nor does a car have to be a limited edition to be appreciated. The Datsun 1600 has proved that & it was essentially just an over engineered 4 door "mums spaceship" that went like stink ! By suggesting that i buy a GT-R and sell the GTST you could be saying that the GT-R is better !!? - its different and does different things. To compare 4WD capabilities against RWD is a "no brainer" and shouldnt be encouraged. If i were to buy a GT-R i would do just that - but wouldnt sell the other As far as looking at it - I LOVE LOOKING AT IT ! (we've both shown brilliantly here how 2 enthusiasts can have a common interest in "motoring" yet see it in their own different way} - which is great !! Cheers malcolm

HI there Sometimes all it takes is mint condition and super low kay's ! Cheers malcolm

Hi there Insurance company !! ?? Look at recent "whats your job" ? thread and youll see what i do for work if you can call it work !! Cheers malcolm

Hi there EXCELLENT POST ! - Though i think somewhere along the line youve arrived at an insurance figure that would reflect the kind of response i myself would post. Its insured value is a private matter between myself and its insurance broker. Though does not reflect what youre hinting that im hinting at. All ive ever said was that its insured for many times more than an average gtst of whichit is not. However if it can be documented that that a certain car like the R32 youre talking about would cost so much to replace and an insurance broker accepted it then all youd have to do would be pay the premium.Be a bloody big one i bet !! I pride myself on being as fair as possible & I honestly believe my insurance cover is fitting. Cheers malcolm

Hi there Are we talking for now or for when its 25 year old ? If for now consideration is taken on : cost to replace with something of equal attributes or appeal - now this most likely would not be a gtst as one comparable may not be sourced as its still very much like a brand new car & a little different to an average gtst - that together with a "little" other "cred" & "interest factor" add to the equation. Its actually not easy determining market value when theres still so many R33's of differing calibres out there. Now if we're are talking for when its 25 years old it all becomes a lot easier. As with every sporty nissan ever made there comes a time when they all literally disappear from sight. It happened with the 1600 & 2000 FAIRLADY SPORTS of which i one of each at the same time - DATSUN 1600'S,180BSSS's & 240K's all went the same way - NONE !! - or almost none. So when that time comes & theres still a handful of really tidy cars & i mean immaculate well the price goes through the roof. As ive said before the right buyer will pay $20.000+ for a DATSUN 1600 & they were only a little over $3000 new !! The same will happen with the Skylines theres no question about it. Motorists the world over have bestowed on them the exact thing that car manufacturers dream about and strive for. Human beings getting "emotionally involved" in an inanimate object. When theres passion and a cheque book involved anything can and often does happen. An insurance policy will ultimately when a car is over 25 years old be dictated to by the all the above factors. Cheers malcolm

The Oxford Dictionary meaning for "PROTOTYPE" - "a first or preliminary model of something, esp a machine, from which other forms are developed or copied" "a typical example of something" "a building, vehicle or other object that acts as a pattern for a full scale model" (i must be mad replying to my own post!!!) Hi there !! If im not mistaken it was Porsche that put in an early order for a couple of R35 GT-R's - not to drive through the german countryside on a picnic no sir'ee !! They wanted to get their hot little hands on those for no other reason than to have at their disposal a s--t load of prototype parts to scrutinise, test, pull apart, copy, re design, apply to their own cars, hopefully improve on & LEARN something about something !! If at the end of your day, week, month, year, or life you can look back and honestly say that youve learnt something then youve done ok !! The only thing that this thread has taught me is "tolerance" - Accepting that we're not all the same with all the same opinions & ideas For wouldnt it be an awfully boring existence if we were. Cheers malcolm

Hi there chris I meant more in terms of technology how over time things just dont change, theres a process of trial & error & testing. ....and drifting just wouldnt be the same in a Model T Still cant figure out whats so interesting about a cars value in terms of $$ DOLLARS $$ ? If that was the case for me id buy an expensive car. Cheers malcolm
