  1. That's excellent news mate! Congratulations, that's a very nice Christmas present! I'm sure it won't take much to fix, give it a really good going over and you'll be cruising your very own GT-R down the highway before you know it!!! Steve
  2. R32 GTS manual, non turbo so easy to insure but still fun to drive and looks great too. I know a bloke who picked up a very clean 1993 R32 GTS RB20 manual with low kays for only $8000! Go get one now!
  3. I remember watching the GT-R race in 1992 and at the tender age of 10 fell in love with this sleek car, not that I knew what it was. But it was unmistakeable. And the lights... Go forward a year or so and my dad had a model of the then-new R33 GTS25t, I loved it. I forget about cars and Skylines for a few years, pursuing other interests but then got back into it, reading everything I could about them and gazing in awe at ones I saw on the road. And I expect my love for the marque to grow when I get my GTS in a few months...
  4. Stupid tosser. Driving home a month ago, about 11pm on a cold night. Sitting at a set of lights to turn left, I see headlights coming so I wait for the car to cross the intersection before they turn left. They go real slow and my green turns red. So I sat there and on the next green waited for the car to cross the intersection so I could turn left. I then saw it was a cop car and he flashed his lights at me to indicate I should turn. I did this and he basically tailgated me down the highway until I put on my indicator with the intention of zipping up a side street. Wrong move. The cop chucked on the lights and was a total tool to me. I had my window down and wearing only a tshirt I was shivering and he asks me "Why are you shaking???" and I go, "Um because I'm cold maybe". Should have said I'm a strung out junkie and my stash is in the boot, want me to pop it for ya maayt?! This shut the twit up and he then proceeded to try and chat up my girlfriend and tell me that this kind of car is "trouble" and I shouldn't drive it late at night. Tosser!
  5. Ok kool! Me bad, should have lookeed first. Can't wait for the cruise!
  6. Hi I have just been thinking that an Skyline cruise down the Great Ocean Road would be a good thing considering the excellent summer weather. Would be a good opportunity for the SAU people and others to shoot the breeze and enjoy a really fun drive. The cruise could begin in Geelong, say at Corio, which gives everyone a good meeting point. The Melbourne people could meet up in the city if they like and then cruise to Geelong or everyone can just meet in Corio. I am from country Victoria and me and my brother would meet in Geelong (2 hour drive for us ). Starting from the meeting point at Corio, the cruise would head down the highway to Torquay with numerous stops along the GOR before finishing in Lorne. From Lorne, we could all cruise back together or people could leave at their leisure. I was thinking that the cruise could take place in late December or early in the new year. Let me know what you guys think of my idea or if its already been done before. Steven
  7. The media aren't interested in our 'cause', only how many newspapers they can sell. F&%k them. I know people who have been interviewed by a local paper in relation to "hoon laws", speaking up for car enthusiasts and were painted as hoons.
  8. I wish the govt. would realise that it's people that are the problem, not high-powered cars. My younger brother, a P-plater, drives a GTS25t, which is illegal in Victoria. However, my brother has more respect for the performance of his car and realises that his limits are much lower than the car itself. As a consequence he is a far safer and more capable driver than the tool in a V6 Commodore hooning around with a deathwish trying to "race" everything in sight and speeding insanely. In this case , it's not the car that's the danger, it's the f*@kwit holding the steering wheel. I believe there would be more of these aforementioned tools in V6 Commodores that wrap themselves around power poles than young guys in Skylines with respect for the machinery. It all comes down to attitude, maturity and repsonsiblity not kilowatts, acceleration and top speed. Cars don't kill people, people kill people.
  9. franks, I see your point in comparing two different cars and I realise that the F6 and Skyline are completely different beasts. I have driven an XR6 Turbo auto and it was a very smooth drive and yes I can see how it would be nicer to drive everyday rather than a Skyline with rock hard suspension. I was impressed with the interior package which seems far superior to a Commodore, and dare I say it, an R33. The car in question had been back to Ford twice in six months for warranty work though...But yes, they are different horses for different courses. In my own opinion, I feel that cars like the F6,SS et al are utilitarian vehicles with performance forced on them and they often struggle to conceal this.
  10. My brother called me this morning and told me that EVLR34 had been in a serious accident. I came on here and I am absolutely shocked and saddened by this tragedy. My utmost sympathy and feeling goes out to all the families of the friends of the people who passed away. RIP
  11. Personally I don't like the F6 because as someone else said it's still just a big, heavy family car that happens to have a 270kW engine. Sure, it's relatively quick in a straight line but even so, not that quick, considering the sheer number of kilowatts it has due to the sheer bulk of the thing. I acknowledge Ford's efforts in moving away from the V8 'performance" car mentality, something Holden needs to look at. But I think, and no disrespect intended, that Holden fans are mostly V8 diehards with an ignorance of technology, twin cams and turbochargers. It's strange how in times like these when petrol is getting more expensive each day that Holden can bring out a new "SS" with naff guard vents promoting its 245kW 5.7 litre motor with a prodgious thirst coupled with a big heavy car and still manage to sell heaps of them. Well it seems like heaps because all I see driving around is VX/Y/Z SS Commodores driven by middle aged women and guys who think they are racecar drivers and own the road. But I suppose in my bogan town nothing impressess the neighbours more than a shiny new VZ SS in the driveway. The second reason I dislike the F6 is that for the money you pay for it you are still getting an inferior quality car. I won't even go into the list of things wrong with NEW cars bought by family/friends from Holden and Ford. It's disgusting. I'm not saying Japanese cars are without their problems but I haven't experienced the same number of squeaks, rattles and loose trim etc in a 1993 R33 compaed to a 2001 WH Statesmen with a bung GENIII. To me if you want a performance car and are serious about driving and not just using it as a status symbol to impress your friends, neighbours, whatever you can buy a far superior car for less money in the form of an import. Sure you don't get a warranty and it may be a bit older but it's a much higher quality car that can go fast, handle and look good Nearly $60,000 for an F6? No thanks, give me an R33 GT-R or even a nice R34 GT-t anyday. I'm sure Ford will manage to sell plenty of them though but I look forward to pulling up next to one at the lights one night and seeing how a ten year old Skyline costing a third of the price goes against one...
  12. I go whoa at: Skylines Supras NSX's Ferraris VN Group A HSV GTO/GTS coupes Porsche GT3 S13's with hot chicks driving them
  13. Hi I am in urgent need of a new vehicle as I just sold my last car and need new wheels, fast! I am seeking an R33 Skyline GTS-t manual, MUST be a manual. I am interested in both Series 1 and 2 cars, but that will also depend on the price being asked. I am not too fussed on the colour, but prefer black. Something relatively stock or light tuned, so I can insure it with less hassle. I need a car within the next fortnight so if you have something for sale or know of someone with a car and a view to sell, please PM me. I am located in Victoria, three hours from Melbourne and will travel to inspect the right car. Thankyou very much Steven
  14. Hey man I am buying a new car in a few months and I was looking at either an R34 GT-t or an S15 Silvia . I enquired at JCI for full comprehensive for the S15. I was told $1754 per year. I am 23 years old, Rating 1, no claims or accidents/speeding fines and I was shocked! I mean, why is an S15 dearer than a bloody SS Commodore? I see plenty of guys my age driving new SS and XR8 utes with 260kw. These bogans can get insurance for under a grand yet am I more of a risk or does it havbe something to do with spare parts etc? Anyway that's my experience. I'm a bit annoyed at the insurance cost because the car is only $26,000 and I'm paying a stupid amount for insurance I might not need... Steve
  15. I saw a car today that made me physically sick... It was a lime green metallic VN Commodore, some kind of lower bodykit and a GT wing on the boot The GT wing and portions of the bodykit were painted bright purple as well as the window surrounds. It had a stock ride height and 15 inch mags What an atrophy...
