  1. Just to let everyone know how things worked out. My very helpful local Auto Electrician Macca's rumaged through his collection of O rings. We found some larger O rings that were a fairly close fit for inside and outside diameter. Much thicker then the original O rings. Fitted these. Both of us were concerned due to the amount of play, so I also put some v good gasket cement above the O ring of the outlet and between the aluminium mating surfaces at the top. The gasket maker was also rated for refrigerant use.. This may not have been needed. Once together tested the system to 250lbs pressure. All ok. Job is now finished and air con is working beutifully. Next job is to make up a new floor for the boot. Threw out the old one as it had been wrecked by the previous owner(s)? installation of copious amounts of hi fi gear which I removed. Once this job is done the GTR will be back to standard with all working well throughout the car.
  2. Nothing goes as planned! Well the used compressor arrived. But now I have a new problem-hope someone can advise a solution. The outlet and inlet holes on the compressor are slightly larger then my compressor-about 2 to 2.5mm larger in diamater. I realise an obvious solution is to try to get another compressor with the same size opennings as my original compressor. Also to possiblt see about changing my hoses to get the right size connections. But has anyone had this problem (it seems Nissan made this change through the life of the R33) and found a solution to use the compressor with my original hoses that have been made to be a very snug fit in my original compressor. When I put my hoses into the openning of this used compressor with the larger openning there will be at least 1mm play around the fittings. Help! Any suggestions most welcome and appreciated.
  3. Over the past couple of months, with the help of this forum, I have been bringing an R33 GTR back to spec. With replaced steering rack, new shocks, tyres, reconditioned mags and a few other things it is now going well. Sits rock steady at 170-no vibration whatsoever. But now it is to the air con. The compressor is not working. I have ordered a working compressor from an R33 GTs-T. mIt looks exactly the same except for the backplate where the connection for the suction hose has been changed for what I guess is clearance. Has anyone modified this compressor to fit a GTR? What I was thinking of doing was changing the backplate from my GTR compressor to this GTs-T compressor. It should then connect straight up to the GTR hoses. Has anyone done this? Advice please. My first concern would be the back plate gasket-can it be reused? Thanks.
