hi ..diggin this up again .. but i have a question
i'm looking to buy both of these kits ... inparticular im wondering about the boost solinoid... says u use one from a rb25 ....
alternatively ..i have a Greedy soleniod .. dont remember what type.. but it was on a GTR ..that had the boost controller pulled from the car in a smash and grab.. so it has no plugs ..just wire and a soleniod.....
is this useable in this application....coz i'll order these kits tommorrow for sure.
thanks
Matt
Any further results SK?
10psi is stock on silvertops anyways i thought
i picked up 20kw at rears from a turbo dump back 3inch hiflow exhaust ..mind u my ole school ECCS redtop 20det only made 96rwkw bog stock as a rock with auto .....
Matt
So do i run both lines from both cam covers to the catch can? as my can has a breather on the top
or do i block the (lookin from the front) left side cam cover and run the line to the catch can from the right cam cover and a line out of the can back into the turbo inlet hose with a inline plastic filter like u suggest.
thanks
Matt
this is going to be interesting .....
for high reving ..joy riding and thrashing .. Rb20 would be my preference
but for pulling power , punch and off boost driveability .. Sr20 does pretty good for a 4cyl job .
just my thoughts
Matt
Power FC isnt an option ..coz they are NOT compatible to NICS or anything rb20 pre silvertop..
i honestly dont think u'll get thhhhhhat much more out of an ageing NICS motor..... but .. prove me wrong anyways.
u could spend a bomb on inboard Willwood Pedal sets.. and do away with all of your standard pedals and slave/master cylinders completely..... u know like ..similar to how the V8supercars have their inboard pedals setup on the floor
but thats MASSIVE amounts of work... repositioning the seat ..filling up holes ..fitting new pedals.. engineers cert.. etc etc
how old are your spark plugs ...... check them out .. coz the problem sounds similar to what had go on b4 my fmic .......sparkplugs have random lifespans.. so they could be shot ......
Matt
very interesting article.... *adds to bookmarks*
i find that my K&N has quite a loud induction sound for a turbo car....... its either that or my turbo is reaaaaaaaaaaaaly ****ed.... but anyways its loud ... :aroused:
good luck
Matt
i plan on doing mine as soon as my new mig arrives ...and i pull my finger out and pick up the flange and step up sections ....basically follow the way the standard dump and front pipes flow..... if u can get it straight in some sections do it..
they pretty straight forward to do ..far as i can work out anyways...just hunt around for pics ..ie CES GCG websites etc etc.
Good Luck ..keep us posted
Matt
before even thniking about putting a bigger turbo ......do everything else first ... more so brakes and suspension....no good having 200plus kw if you cant stop properly and drive it.. and on on standard internals... unless u live in perth ... i dont think its possible to try and hav a motor reliable and make 250rwkw....maybe 230 ..but u'd be pushing your luck.
dont forget a good FMIC and boost controller...
thats just my thoughts
good luck
Matt
had exact same problem with mine yesterday...... under load and at about 4000 rpm and REALLY badly at 5000rpm it would be popping and braking down on power delivery..... got it home after blowing smoke and dropping flames..hehe ...... changed the plugs and now she;s good as gold now.
Matt
plenty options of the eqvilant fuel pumps out there.
Bosch 040 .. or 984 or 975 ....can get them pretty cheaply these days.. 200bucks roughly
then the Walbro's..the one rated 550hp is the way to go i've read..straight swap.. and for 170bucks its cheap as
Denzo are good .. but expensive in comparision to other fuel pumps on the market
Good luck Sharky
Matt
he picked it up off a m8 for 1000bucks the bugga! lol
mostly see them go for average 1500 to 2000bucks........ to buy them new from ford u'll be up for nearly 3000 i think from memory.
Drama is actually getting one is difficult ....a) how many ford turbo owners upgrade theyre turbo? B) finding a wrecked one at a wrecker that doesnt want big bucks for it.....
Matt
go stainless steel man .... Geordi Stainless Steel sales in Chelteham (melb) .. has 2.5inch pipe for pretty cheap ... 90deg are 18.50 ..45deg are 16.40 .. reducers 3" to 2.5inch are 11.50 .. 2.5 to 2.0 are 9.50......ring em up 9553 2000 (131 Herald St Chelteham)
Matt
ditch the nicks and invest in a silvertop ..u;ll better 200rwkw with ease with them perpherials .....well maybe not the turbo ..something bigger would b the go
intersting info on the plug in R31 wolf3d ecu's ....sounds good
Matt
