The NEO RB25DET's are good for 206kw. The RB25DE (NA) NEO makes the same amount of power as the non-NEO engine but at a lower RPM (6000 vs 6400) and the torque is higher (250 vs 230NM). Basically VVT allows the valve timing to be optimised across the RPM range, rather than being the compromise that fixed timing cams allow. See here for a full description of how it works: http://www.geocities.com/gkurka2001/CarTech/vvt_1.htm As for whether or not it is worth it - depends on whether or not the tuning shop you use is familiar with VVT engines. VVT has a lot to offer in terms of (usable) power gains, but as it is a relatively new technology and is dependent on electronic control tuning it for more power is far more complex than a non-VVT engine.

Could be a fuse issue as Terminal says, could also be a wiring problem. I believe the climate control unit has a 12V feed from the battery when the car is off (v. low current) to maintain the last set temp in memory. So it could be that this feed is either disconnected, or someone has bodged the wiring and connected it to the ACC feed.

300ZX Woes... Urgent help needed!
Ant replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Check out this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...293#post1220293 If you post the VIN in there someone will check it out for you. If you don't get any response, pm me with the VIN no and I'll try to remember to check it out @ home. -
Errrm, how certain are you about the wheel thing? I thought that the non-airbag wheel with the 'S' in the middle is simply the one fitted to 93 - early/mid 94 R33's where the airbag wasn't standard. Mine has the standard (for 95) drivers side airbag wheel (same boring one fitted to most other Nissans of that era), but the VIN comes up in FAST as being a type S model. Also from what I've seen the dual mode muffler is fairly rare (at least here in NZ where R33's are pretty common), I would have thought that most people changing their exhausts would go for an aftermarket hi-flow item rather than the no-doubt quite expensive type S one? Also I'd assume that non-type S cars would require the wiring to be added for the muffler actuator in the boot, making it an expensive exercise? gatty - type S specs listed here: http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/nissan/skyline/ As far as I can tell the basic difference is that the type S has 200ps, whereas the 'normal' GTS25 has 190ps.
-
In FAST, the exhaust assembly with the flap in it is listed as belonging to the R33 'GTS25 Type S'. So that is probably the indicator that it is a Type S. I believe that the body kit was entirely a 'tick the box' option in Japan. Incidentally, the 'type-M' front bumper doesn't have anything to do with the the 'type-M' GTS25T, all R33 GTS25T's are 'type-M', but they don't all have the bumper you are referring to. So again, just a 'tick the box' option.

Power supplies for PC's in cars - the Opus PSU is one of a few options out there, car 12V in, PC power out: http://www.opussolutions.com/ And can be purchased from here: http://www.digitalww.com The DigitalWW site has lots of other in car PC goodies as well. Also www.mp3car.com is well worth a look for anyone thinking about incar PC's.

Babelfish is your friend: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ Enter the URL and select the from/to languages. Translation is a bit odd, but intelligible!

Dunno how accurate this is, but according to here: http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/21597/ http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/21607/ The GT-V sedan is 1400 kg vs 1370 for the coupe - not much difference?

do you like the new skylines?
Ant replied to VL-TRBO-RB20's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
... which is the point of the design - 40 - 50 year olds are the ones with the $$'s to buy them new. Since the new Skyline was designed as a world car (unlike the R32/33/34 which were aimed at the JDM market only), it is targeted at the equivalent competition around the world - 3 series, C class, IS200/300 etc, as those are the cars that the target market are likely to be shopping for, so that is the direction of the design. Personally I like the design (but then again I like the 350Z....), the only bit I don't like is that they didn't create a new inline 6 to go with it - that would have enabled it to better fight the 3 series and preserve some of the Skyline heritage at the same time. But the fiscal reality is that at that time Nissan probably couldn't afford to develop a new engine, so the VQ is the obvious alternative I guess. -
Thread here about replacing these bulbs: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=62358 That is for Skylines, but as you've found it looks like the same DSE bulb fits Stagea's.

Colours listed here at bottom of page: http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/21675/ If you back up a couple of levels on that site to here: http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/nissan/skyline/ ......you can get the factory colours for any model.

HR33 is 2.0L RB20E engine, can be 2 or 4 door, badged 'GTS'. ER33 is 2.5L RB25DE (GTS25) or RB25DET (GTS25T) engine, also 2 or 4 door. ECR33 is the same as ER33 except the 'C' denotes HICAS. ENR33 is a GTS25 spec ER33 with 4wd (N = 4wd), I believe these also all have HICAS (despite the lack of a 'C'). Badged GTS4. BCNR33 is a GTR (B = RB26DETT engine), 2 door only. So H = 2.0L, E = 2.5L, N = 4wd, C = HICAS, R33 = model series.
-
W = wagon in Nissan-speak by the looks of things. Judging by this list: http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/nissan/s.../stagea/1997_1/ G = 2.5L (H = 2.0L - WHC34 seems to be the 2.0L version - yuck!) and N for the 4wd variants. C34 is the model series (like R32/33/34 for Skylines).
-
Assuming that the Stagea's follow the same system as the Skylines, then the N signifies 4WD - ie it is a RS4, or 25G/X 4 model.

Aircon unit in dash lights not working
Ant replied to Swordfish19792002's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Check out this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=62358 Shows how to get at the bulbs behind the dash buttons. Bulbs in AC buttons are similar, as per my post in that thread you can get ones that are almost equivalent from Dick Smiths, part no P8140. -
I bought my grille direct from them a couple of years ago, a couple of emails and a fax with my cc details later I had the parts delivered to my door in NZ. Looks like C-Red have the agency for them in Aussie if you want to save yourself the hassle: http://www.c-red.com.au/ Also I see that Unique Autosports do a similar grille: http://www.nismo.com.au/ though I don't like the way it has a bar across the top, looks a bit odd.
-
'Tick the box' option in Japan - along with things like the different front bar, side skirts etc. I thought S1.5 refers to a S1 with any S2 bits on it - mine has a S1 exterior and interior, but has the S2 engine. Looks like Nissan did a heap of mixing and matching during '95 so S1.5's could be any combination! Gatty - you could order the mesh type grille from Nissan - I've seen the part number is listed in the FAST system, so they should be able to look it up for you. Or get an aftermarket one (probably cheaper!), I got one from East Bear in Japan: http://www.east-bear.co.jp/aeroparts/skyli...33/f-grill.html Run it thru Babelfish for a translation: http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Got the flap, the cable and the actuator on mine. Actuator is located inside the LH rear gaurd, below/in front of where the jack lives. Not sure what RPM level it activates at - I think I read > 4000 rpm somewhere?
-
Would be difficult, you'd need to put an LED plus current limiting resistor in, and the space available is about enough for the LED and nothing else! And you need the resistor otherwise the LED will not last very long. Best to try to find the right coloured sleeve thingy for the globe.
-
Definitely a factory option on S1 models, have seen both grilles in the FAST parts list. S2 grilles are kinda similar, but a bit narrower. And front bar aftermarket kits not-withstanding, I've only ever seen one type of S2 grille? For other S1 vs S2 differences do a search, zillions of threads on that topic.

Great thread PlasticStan, have done this process myself after realising that the Hazard light button thing is supposed to light up.... Only one other thing to add, watch out for the spring when taking it apart, can go flying out if you aren't careful! If you are in Aussie or NZ, replacement bulbs can be found at Dick Smiths, part number P8140. They are a 50mA bulb, so are very slightly dimmer than stock, but I don't really notice the difference compared to the other lights in the dash. These bulbs can also be used as replacements for the lamps behind the R33 climate control buttons.
