50K 2Nd Hand R35's In Japan With $A At Record Highs Against The Yen
AussieMark replied to GT-R OZ's topic in R35 GTR
What was the RRP for the 2010's? 155-160k? I recall it being somewhere in that vicinity?? Even at that level it's much easier to swallow than the 193k or so they are now. Wouldn't a Dec 2010 build be a MY11? When is the cut-off when they start building the next year's model? It seems strange that they'd build a 2010 model in Dec 2010 that wouldn't even land over here until probably Feb 2011 - it's last year's model the day it lands. When I was into WRXs a few years back I remember Subaru would be launching the next years model around September. -

Not that it really matters to continue on with this dribble but anyway.... I didn't mean his ratio assumption of 1:15 was right or wrong; it is largely irrelevant to the point he was trying to make. He was basically saying that the USA sells a lot more GTRs than Australia so therefore each individual dealership in USA would be selling a lot more GTRs each month than dealerships out here. What I was saying is that he seemingly disregarded the fact that there is also many many more Nissan dealerships in the USA making all those new GTR sales and not the 1 : 1 ratio of dealerships in Aust that he used for his calcs. They are interesting sales figures though Wardski, so thanks for the link. Whatever the reason, no one likes the feeling that they're getting ripped, which is why it is a sensitive topic. Software/games etc are twice as much here as they are to the UK and there is no possible justification for this that I can see. This doesn't bother me though because I just buy from the UK. I can't do that with a GTR though... -

I see the point you are trying to make but your analogy is very weak (it also has nothing to do with "economies of scale"). I'm guessing your GTR sales ratio of 1 : 15 would be based on a population ratio?? Either way, the number of Nissan dealerships in USA compared to Aust would also be a similar ratio which totally dismisses this point. I hope you don't teach this in your "classes" !! I agree high wages, high living standards and high costs of living (as well as higher GTR prices) generally all go hand-in-hand. It still does not account for, nor justify the obvious huge price gouging we face here. That said, I am no expert and I'm not here to whinge. I'm as guilty as you guys as I too have added justification to Nissan Aust for the inflated prices by being a proud GTR owner.... -
Thanks for the feedback guys. An R33 I bought a few years back had a lot of work done by Gavin back and the previous owner told me he was great. Maybe that's the way to go then....

Hi Guys, I'm guessing most of you read the US and/or UK forums as they tend to have more than the average 1 post per day on this forum lol.... Anyway that being the case you've probably seen the threads from the guy making the plug n play kits in the UK to upgrade the standard weak Bose subs?? I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the overall sound quality of the standard gear as I though it would have been quite good with the Bose system. Nissan seem to have made a real feature of the twin subs between the rear seats but then put piss-poor quality units in them making them really to be a joke imo. I'm hoping that a quality sub will help out the bottom end and improve overall sound so I have put my name down and bought a kit. Andy, the guy who's making them is a great guy to deal with and was very happy to ship to Australia. Anyway here's the thread (I'm guessing it's ok to link to??) http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/174137-dynamat-new-amp-sub-install.html I'm expecting to receive mine very soon so happy to give first-hand feedback once it's installed if anyone's interested.

Hi Guys, I'm interested in getting some work done on my R35 and I'm looking for recommendations for anywhere SE Qld. Mercury Motorsport?? Gavin Wood Autotech?? What are the options and who do you guys use?? I'm especially interested in the Ecutek but it appears Mercury and GSA Racing are the only agents around here. Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated.

I had the Willal mid-pipe installed on Friday. The car sounds a lot better now though still pretty quiet and tame. I did a drive up to Harvey Bay and back overnight on Friday and very happy with how it cruises at highway speeds - no droning etc. They are a pretty noisy car imo with heaps of road noise etc so I'd much rather it be noisy with the exhaust. I might consider doing the dump pipes now but then have the considerations for cats - catless or high-flow in the dump pipes or the mid-pipe???

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm sure the cause is just the reasons you mentioned Mike. It wouldn't be running aftermarket oils as it's only had one service by a dealer. It's got 5000km on it....last week when I bought it it had 3000km

Congrats on your car. I'll be very interested to hear your feedback on the work you have done!

I paid 161k and just looked tonight and there's another listed in Vic.....same colour, same year, EXACTLY the same kms but is listed at 159.5k. Serves me right for getting back on Carsales after I already bought one lol. I was actually negotiating with Suttons @ Chullora on the black my12 that's listed. It was listed at $165,900 and we were negotiating from there. I thought for sure I had it as they even took my cc for a deposit. Next thing I get a call and they tell me they are putting the price up!!! I checked that night and the ad had been updated....kms jumped from 3000 to 6000 and the price jumped all the way up to 172,900. No idea wtf is the go with that???? Anyway the very next day I was booking flights to Sydney to buy my grey one and now very happy that it worked out that way

I've only ever seen 1 R35 on the Sunshine Coast cruising down Hastings St but have 4 separate sightings out Maleny way. I travel out west through Maleny every Thursday and have seen 3 down in Landsborough and there was one in the main St in Maleny a few weeks back. It must be all the nice roads out that way!! I'm always up for a cruise too......

Hey Guys, just new to R35 ownership...... mine has a rattling/scratching sound at idle and start-up. The old owner told me it is the dual clutch??? I recall reading something somewhere??? Is this common????

Hi Guys, I bought a MY12 on Friday in Sydney and drove it home overnight to Qld. Gun Metal Grey colour with 3400km in showroom condition. I have already bought a Willall midpipe and will have that installed when I get my safety inspection done this week for Qld registration. I had been searching for a black one for months but settled for this grey one.....great news is I reckon it's the best colour of all now I'm very impressed with the overall performance so far but looking to up the ante a bit of course!!! All I can say is that I LOVE that launch control lol !!!! I owned a highly modded R33 a few years back but overall it was a bit of a horror story for me with carjackings and blown engines etc, so now looking for a fresh and positive new start to GTR ownership I have a heap of newbie questions so hope you guys can be patient with me while I get a grasp on this new beast that I own!!!! Mark.

I got some prices on the Akropovic exhaust from the Qld distributor...... cat back $5480, full exhaust $8000. Big $$s there!
-
hmmm well I *will* be keen but you'll have to give me a bit of of time - I'm on the hunt for an R35 right now. I live on the Sunshine Coast and as soon as I get one I will be keen for catch-ups
-
Any idea when the 2013 model is due to be launched out here?
-
Nice to have a unique GTR and congrats to the new owner but......a gold GTR???
-
Congrats on your new car mate! I'm glad it has all worked out for you. I'm very jealous as I am in the market for a used R35 myself so just waiting for the right one to pop up.
-
Thanks guys for the responses and feedback....very interesting! Hey is the launch control improved in newer models or is it just as good in the 2009?

Hi Guys, I'm in the market for a used GTR and just looking through the pros and cons of the year models. I would be looking to do some "light" mods such as exhaust and Cobb tune so just have a question I'm hoping you guys can help with... The 2009/2010 model has 357kw compared to the 2011 model with 390kw. Would similar gains in power be achieved with the exhaust and Cobb tune (for both 2009/10 versus the 2011) meaning the 390kw factory power would be a better base to start with? Or would the 33kw difference be negated with the mods ie. both models would have similar power with the exhaust + Cobb tune? I'm just thinking that maybe the 33kw power rise might be attributed to a something simple like an increase in factory boost which would be irrelevant after a Cobb tune. I hope what I'm asking makes sense?? I'm just looking for justification for spending the extra $$s on a 2011 or even a 2012 model

Hi Guys, does anyone know if this bellhousing issue applies to the 2011 model? I am looking to buy a used GTR at the moment and was warned about pre-2011 models and their transmission failures.
