  1. This makes me sad!
  2. Oooh spiral bound, how fancy! Look nice, shall I PM you my address?
  3. That is good news! Thanks to all involved. Next year ill be sure to get some pics in it.
  4. Welcome! That does look nice. I like the Grids on it, do you happen to know offsets and tyre widths? I'm looking at getting new rims soon!
  5. Keen! Sign me up for one! Nice job taking the initiative and getting it done!
  6. Nice! So it's running all good now? Great to hear it was a cheap fix. Any idea what in particular was wrong? Gap, heat rating or just bad plugs?
  7. Spotted that other white R34 that looks very similar to mine this morning at about 8am on Gundaroo Drive in Gungahlin. Has stock rims etc but not sure if it has a sunroof like mine! ;P Anyone from SAU? I've seen them driving around Gungahlin area a few times.
  8. Depends on type of boost controller I think, but in essence, the boost controller should limit the flow to the actuator to increase boost pressure by making the waste-gate open later. So the most simple set-up will be| Hose from Turbo ---> Boost Controller ---> Hose to waste-gate actuator. Then all other connections like the stock solenoid hoses etc can be plugged up, just make sure they don't leak. You can get different types of boost controllers though. Some withhold/block pressure to waste-gate actuator (like TurboTech and Turbosmart "T-Pieces"). Some vent/bleed pressure somehow, either back into the system or maybe even atmosphere? And some have a replacement solenoid type thingo. I think these are more for Electronic/Dual Stage Boost Controllers. Again... may need confirmation as I'm no mechanic/expert lol
  9. If it was a vacuum/boost hose leak wouldn't it cause either higher OR lower boost than desired depending on where the leak was? eg. Pressure leak in solenoid, boost control or waste-gate actuator lines would result in higher boost pressure due to actuator reading low pressure and wastegate opening later or possibly not at all! and Pressure leak after turbo, intercooler, intake manifold plenum etc would result in lower boost pressure due to...well... loss of pressure? Also you would possibly be able to hear it leaking anyway, like a high pitched hissing noise... But I didn't think either of these would necessarily cause the symptoms you are describing BUT... I may be wrong? :S Maybe due to weird air/fuel mix but yeah...Can anyone confirm?
  10. lol No worries Jeremy, but the shoutout was already in your 1st post i think! ;P Glad you thought I could help, even if it didn't really solve your issue. On another note, do you have any pics of your car somewhere? *EDIT* never mind just saw your intro thread from the other day, shame about repairs needed but I love the colour! It'll be hard to miss you driving around in this! And a belated welcome to you!
  11. Nice work man. Looks like you've already done quite a bit of trouble-shooting! The video you linked definitely doesn't sound like engine cut due to overboosting, so I'm going to jump on the spark plug bandwagon too! Be sure to keep us updated and I hope you get it sorted out.
  12. ^haha wow top bloke Rob! Looks like your all set then Jeremy!
  13. While I can't say whether or not you'll need new coilpacks, lowering the boost might fix your problem, but it might not too... Even if it doesn't fix it, you will have narrowed it down and your car will also be running a much safer boost pressure which is a good idea regardless! And if it does fix it then YAY! This tells you that it was just the stock ECU doing its job and cutting power before any harm can be done to the engine, something the stock ECU is designed to do. But like Troy said the cut will be very noticeable and not just spluttering, will be more like it's suddenly shut the engine off for a moment. ^also like Troy said - beat me to it! - The lowest possible boost you can run is determined by your wastegate actuator but the highest boost limit is determined by a boost controller of some kind, whether it be stock boost solenoid, bleed valve, manual/electronic boost controller etc.
  14. Apparently stock engine + ECU + Turbo shouldn't really be messed with to go over 10 psi. Stock boost for an R34 is something like 6-7 psi so having 1bar/15psi is like double! which surely cant be good... It may very well be combination of things - having boost too high + having odd/failing coil packs etc but I would start with the cheaper possible fixes 1st. You don't want to spend $1000 only to find out the problem was a $50 fix. IMO get yourself a decent accurate boost gauge if you don't already have one, even if it's only temporary, and lower the boost to safe levels and try that out. Not sure about stock R33s but the stock R34 GTT boost gauge is a bit hard to get an accurate reading on account of the short sweep but large range. For example it's kinda hard to determine whether your boosting to 8 psi or 12 psi, which is a pretty big difference really.
  15. Not trying to throw a spanner in the works... but, 1 bar is actually closer to 14-15 psi. IIRC on a stock ECU if the boost goes higher than a certain amount (like 12psi or so) it will cut power to the engine to prevent damage. I had the same problem when I 1st got my R34, when boosting hard it would cut out pretty sharply. Found out it was over-boosting to around 15psi - which is bad for stock turbos. So I bought myself a manual boost control (TurboTech! ) and a decent boost gauge, wound the pressure down to 8-9 psi and the problem is completely gone! Might be something to look in to, hope this helps!
  16. Spotted 2 R33s on Majura/Horse Park Drive this morning around 8am. One white, one black.
  17. Spotted that same black R33 along Majura/Horse Park Drive this morning around 8am. I think I may have finally got a wave lol! ...or maybe it was my imagination :S
  18. Is any of this still available? Or is the new owner selling anything? I may be interested in: Front strut brace Drivers side door switches and/or panel (depending on year model) Exhaust Floor mats etc Let me know!
  19. Also keen. Would be good to finally come meet a few of you guys and see your cars in the flesh/metal!
  20. Spotted a black R33 yesterday arvo on my way home on Majura, I waved. Also another R33 in red/maroon at Brindabella Business Park out near the Airport this morning.
  21. Wow dude that sucks, I feel for you! I would be GUTTED if someone keyed my car Any idea where it happened?
  22. 100% QFT! I really hope other car companies start to follow suit. *ON TOPIC* Spotted an R32 GTR in Canberra Centre lower basement car park on Sat morning, was that yours? I parked my car just a few car spots over from you.
  23. Yeah that is one problem with it for sure. I hear they do have TRD plans for them later down the line. My guess would be Turbo(s) and bigger wheels/brakes etc...
  24. OR! Tell him to get one of those new Toyota 86s! They are surprisingly cheap and seem pretty awesome, I must say I'm a big fan of them.
