  1. Ok a little more info... The 25 is a built r33 25 with mildly ported head and his step2 cams, upgraded springs ect So by having a read of the threads you mentioned as long as i use a quality workshop i can expect around 10k too far over that and I'm getting taken for a ride? As i said built 30 with my 25 head and a gt42r, e85 should net my 150mph reliably for many years? The 25 may only need new rings and bearings but i will probably just go the 3025 rather than muck around. Thoughts?? Also my car runs a c4, do you reckon the 2530 with gt4202r will get on the trans brake no dramas without nos? Would a gtx4294r do the job? A friend is selling a gt45r but i thought it might be a stretch?? thoughts??
  2. Hey all, Long time reader but i don't post much... I have been racing a built rb25det at willowbank for a couple of years now and have cracked the 9 second barrier finally but on my last oil change i found small pieces of metal in the filter. Fearing the worst i am preparing myself for the inevitable upgrade that has been long overdue to a built rb30. I am not chasing 1000hp or anything i just want another reliable strong engine capable of around 150mph.(pb with the 25 is 135mph) To keep prices down i was just going to get a workshop to take my mildly worked 25head and manifolds and throw it on a built rb30 bottom end with a gt42r thrown on in place of the t04z. My question is, roughly what is the ballpark price range from a reputable engine builder to do this job and / or do you have another option for me that may be better bang for the buck like how limiting is the 25 head vs 26 head or anything else??? Im not real knowledgable with engines i just like to go fast. Cheers
  3. gt35r
  4. Cheers dude, Ill be using willwood brakes... VPW were nice enough to give me a trial fit of some wheels they had in stock in the 1 and 3/4" backspace so hopefully they work if not i can send them back and order the 2 and 5/16" ones...
  5. Wanting to buy some front runners in 15" by 4" for my skyline and need to know what backspace sit best on a skyline before i hand over the cash... What have others used or recomend??? choices are 1 and 3/4" , 2 and 5/16" or 3 and 3/8"... I was thinking 1 and 3/4" but dunno... 2 and 5/16" is pretty much zero offset...
  6. Good shit mate, that big rear housing sure brings it on late...when are you going to hit the track next? 335rwkw should get you a 10>>>>
  7. cons for the r1... rain, fender benders that kill instead of bend,no boost,no comfort, only one mate at a time, getting hit by vn commodore p platers, not turning heads, getting beaten by gsxr's,joining the r1 forum and leving the skyline one
  8. can always put a 66mm wheel in the the 35r for a bit more but i reckon your right, the 35r on the limit will make bulk power...
  9. I was under the impession the stally and auto helped the turbo onto boost more than the manual???
  10. Its always possable but it wasnt too bad with the manual so the auto/stally/transbrake/2 step might be fine... If im going nos ill go an even bigger turbo i reckon, or atleast just a larger hot side on the to4z...
  11. Its all through cv performance mate,so whoever they use...
  12. payed the deposit,going 3spd C4,2step transbrake,4500rpm stall,cooler and tailshaft
  13. oh...after checking out that site 2rismo,powerglides are gm and c4's are ford ok i didnt know... and so the c4's are lighter too?definently sounds the goods??
  14. it weighs about 1300kg and it is very peaky with a narrow powr band... lag until 4000,hits hard at 4600 and revs to 8000... how many gears does that second one have??? really sounds the goods, thanks heaps mate you really know your shit...
  15. cool thanks heaps... ive heard the jatco's arent as strong???im not going anything nissan i have big plans for future and dont want to change but i still know next to nothing about auto's... What about powerglide??? Any other choices or c4 is def the pic???
  16. Hey guys, I currently have a 350rwkw rb25det and want to go auto/stally/transbrake. What box, stall limit and diff ratio can you recommend for 10's?How many gears too? It runs a garrett to4z and hits full 22psi at 4600rpm in 4th... thanks for the help.
  17. Nothing like that at all i was just wondering why there are guys running 20psi through stock 25's and i spent alot on getting a strong motor built and it still only runs 20 psi. I'm happy with how it goes 315rwkw is nothing to sneeze at even if it is a tad laggy but it should pull an 11 at over 120mph so im stoked. i was just wondering what you guys thought. Ill keep yas posted on what changes the cams and gears make, thanks.
  18. Thanks guys awesome now i know what to ask. compression, timing, springs.
  19. nah man its run in its got 7800klms since build.
  20. I dont know but its good for 32 psi so i would guess it would be happy around 25 psi. It is water and oilcooled.
  21. I have a fully built rb25det with 700hp t66 turbo. tuned and built by the same company. Why would they only want to run 20psi? I am always reading about stock 25's running 20psi and built 25's running 22plus. The car made 315rwkw on stock cams with that 20psi but i was just wondering why they dont want to lean on it any harder. Also the car is a tad laggy with full boost hitting at 4900 it builds from 3500 though.(stock cams and gears though) The rear housing is a .86 t04r flange housing. Any input would be great cheers.
  22. thanks man thats just what i needed to know pm sent.
  23. yeah mate its got good exhaust and tuning and runs an ems 8860 with eboost2. So do poncams come in different stages cos obviously i dont wanna get the set that someone would get for their 250kw stock 25....(or do i ?) Has some one else done this what changes did the cams make? Any info is great thanks.
  24. I have a fully built rb25det with t66 making 315rwkw on 20psi.full boost at 4800rpm till 7600rpm(stock cams.) I would like less lag(more response)with more top end,is it possable? What cams do you recommend to do this or otherwise?(cam gears too?) Thanks.
