  1. no worries. i just do timeattacks and motorkhanas, there's no particular class. you pay, you come you race, you get a timesheet, you compare and you go home. we have a points system implemented this year for a bit of friendly competition. engine wise: i've got extractors, cat, catback exhaust, tuned SAFC2 and that's pretty much it. suspension & brake wise: pretty much done to death, camber, castor, hicas, bilsteins/whiteline shock/springs, swaybars, slotted rotors, braided lines, upgraded calipers, master cylinder stopper, front & rear strut braces, etc. i had no dramas with the bolts, you should be replacing the bolts when doing a manifold/extractor change as they deteriorate over time. i.e. snap. try some washers/spacers to clear the welds if you have an overly large bolt nut. some intake systems have an emissions box integrated (not all of them had it). a metal pipe is a good upgrade anyway.
  2. can you take the whole twin intake and throttle body out in one piece?
  3. since there is no further talk on lightened flywheels, i will close this thread - please use cara's clutch thread for further discussions. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Cl...er-t193316.html edit: link fixed
  4. i do believe cara's bottle wasn't completely full.
  5. yeah the paint isn't a high temp paint - it's purely for rust proofing and aesthetics. i run a 2.5" outlet, with 2.5" metal cat (with an extra pipe welded on) as my cat was quite short, followed by a stock R33 GTR exhaust. does the job, bit louder than stock - not too loud. mine also has the rasp. might need to repack the fiberglass or put in some resonators. i'm not overly fussed, as long as the car performs.
  6. sounds like your surrounded by incompetence cara. regardless i personally think the dyno/curve is merely a tuning tool or a quick guesstimate at how the engine is performing. track it and see how it goes.
  7. yes you will need a flange. you may need to extend the extractors depending on the design of your cat, alternatively extend your cat.
  8. it's all quite straight forward. i doubt there'd be much difference to the turbo setup anyway. people do it all the time to do sparkies. just take a photo before hand if your overly paranoid. i personally wouldn't leave the coil pack cover off. wouldn't want water getting in there.
  9. my guesstimate at a quarter time was based on the 'average joe' on street tires. that being cara. certainly someone who is well experienced in the drag racing scene will be able to shave off more time again. other factors inclusive (suspension, weight, tires, etc) are up for discussion as well. a polite reminder for EVERYONE to keep discussions well on cara's topic cheers eug
  10. a high 13 with 170rwkw if your a half decent driver with a nice launch and correct suspension/wheel setup. although the ID on the 170rwkw graph isn't even of your car????
  11. deliveries after xmas/new years may take a while. sorry, it was either going to be an early delivery right on christmas or late well into the new year - we had the same issue with delivery times last group buy. give it till the end of this week and we'll see what we can do about chasing it up. got to hate australia post.
  12. this has been covered quite a few times before. check these links out: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/No...er-t193696.html http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Lo...html&hl=pod http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Po...html&hl=pod http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ka...html&hl=pod http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Po...html&hl=pod http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ka...html&hl=pod http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ai...html&hl=pod alternatively, use the search function: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/search.html&f=53 cheers eug

    Fuel Prices

i partly agree to the fact that 'alternative fuels will continue to be researched regardless of current fuel costs'. i agree that it will be studied, but only by those who understand peak oil and think long term. everyone else won't have a bar of it - because it simply doesn't concern them within this lifetime. however, with increasing petroleum prices - it hits everyone and affects their lifestyle. they'll be more accepting to alternative resources and the government will be more willing to implement the means to introduce them into society. cost is an influential factor into education. to put it simply, if it's cheap no one cares because it doesn't affect them.

    Willo And Hpi

saw the draft photos, the car looks amazing.
  15. nice work cara, eagerly awaiting results. is your car still a daily driver? i don't know why you are so adamant on the button clutch. if you do more street driving than track, then i guarantee you will end up driving like/slipping like its a regular h/d clutch. of course the clutch is stronger, but your damaging the other components by increasing unnecessary wear and tear. they're really more of an on/off type thing, but hey if your not paying for it then sweet. p.s. - upgrade your pressure plate!
  16. cant wait for some comparison times for each driver; traction control vs. no traction control. should show who's the better driver.
  17. nice one karlos, like the rims - its a shame they show so much of the braking system though. stephen, that car looks familiar did you buy it off someone from here? and how low is the rear!
  18. most of the info is readily available. valve vs. piston, head gasket? head/block decking? look into it try searching for compression ratios around the forum
  19. yes the headers will need a flange welded on, as will any aftermarket cat you buy - takes all of 5 minutes. entirely dependent on the brand and design. some cats are shorter and might require some extra piping.
  20. any coolant smell in the cabin? heater core? check the passenger foot area just to confirm.
  21. thread locked. do some measurements on the stock GTR exhaust of your particular model. i run the standard R33 GTR exhaust on mine, 2.50" standard - cheap simple and effective. its noticeably louder than stock, bolts up exactly the same and the bonus, it says NISSAN. might need to get the insides re-packed if it's been sitting around for a while.
  22. nice one ash! bout time!!!! can't wait to see you in a skyline - what will you be getting might i ask? the thermal wrapping is markedly cheaper than HPC!! upload some pictures for the rest of us guys. cheers eug
  23. well it seems something more specialized for local buyers only. seeing as you live in melbourne, it won't do much good for us up here in QLD or NSW. there will still need to be some form of co-ordinating/organization involved. you will need to call an exhaust shop and make the agreement with them then you will somehow need to confirm the amount of buyers you promise in order to qualify for the discount. no shop of any kind will honor a discount on the promise that X amount of patrons will buy their products, without seeing some money or without seeing some form of official/company backing. i don't think you fully understand what's involved in co-ordinating a buy on a large scale. call a place up and find out, who knows. you will have better luck having this thread in the Victorian part of the forum, would you like me to move it there? as it really doesn't belong here. happy new year eug
  24. beau, may i suggest you get some more details next time before you start a thread like this. there are quite a few missing details in regards to gaining interest. finding a place that's willing to supply. what exactly will be included in the group buy (cat back? cannon only? muffler?) will everyone be required to buy the same setup? photos? recommended retail price? special group buy price? how many required? is the supplier willing to ship interstate? are you willing to ship interstate? most importantly. are you willing to co-ordinate this buy? just some food for thought.
